Style: Power Inverter
After doing exhaustive research for 3k inverter/chargers (including Victron MultiPlus), I settled on Sungoldpower. The price was over $200 cheaper than Victron, and Will Prowse gave them high marks. I purchased this unit in March of last year (2023) and installed in my motorhome. It has worked flawlessly since. About a week ago I had to remove it to install an additional LiFePO4 battery. After I got everything reinstalled and buttoned up, the charger in the inverter wouldn't work. (!!!) I emailed Sungoldpower support and explained the issue. To my surprise, I got a reply the very next day with concise instructions AND PHOTOS showing exactly how and what to troubleshoot. After a couple rounds of troubleshooting, I bench tested the unit and EVERYTHING worked perfectly! One of the troubleshooting steps was to check the DIP switch settings. I evidently bumped/moved these switches when removing the unit for the battery install. Customer service gave me specific settings for my use case. After setting the switches PROPERLY, everything worked perfectly! I'm back in business! My point is I just want to say that I was totally impressed with Sungoldpower's customer service! Considering they're in China, they STILL responded to me NEXT DAY in the USA. Their instructions were also clear and easy to follow. Bottom line... Since purchasing I had read some "less than stellar" remarks about Sungoldpower's customer service. I'm here to say that was NOT the response I got. Bottom line... I think the equipment is solid and dependable, and I'm NOW confident if I ever have an issue in the future that Sungoldpower's customer support team will be there to back up their product! Solid product with stellar customer service! That's all I could ask for! ... show more

I purchase this inverter after reading a lot of good reviews and watching some good reviews videos on YouTube, got it to install it in my big truck, so I can run my ac, tv, and fridge and be able to keep batteries charged, the inverter works good but when trying to use shore power, it won’t work at all, won’t charge batteries and it just dies, I’ve tried to contact manufacturer by email and by phone and absolutely no answer, waste of time and money!!! ... show more

I use the Sun Gold 3000w inverter charger to replace a similar unit in my all electric e-trek RV. It has four 200ah lithium batteries that run everything. I set what I thought were the settings that would work with my rig. Battery type to lithium, DIP switch to utility preferred we’re the setting. When I turned on the unit the lights for shore power and rapid charge would come on along with the alarm light and a pulsating alarm. The unit would not charge the batteries. I contacted the company by email. Initially there were two problems. The first that the email turnaround took a full day (The response must have been coming from halfway around the world). The second was that they wanted video of the problem which I couldn’t send by email because of its size. They agreed to use stills and were able to correct the problem easily with just a change of the battery type setting that allowed the charger to come on at a higher voltage. The unit is now working beautifully. Be patient, the process may take days because of the turnaround time on email, they will stick with it until the problem is resolved. ... show more

    • Very good inverter, but...
Style: Power Inverter
So far this seems to be doing a very good job - seems to be a high quality product. Put this in my RV with 4 - LiFePO4 batteries (420 Ah). When plugged into shore power this passes the 110 VAC along to the RV. So far so good. However, sometimes when my 15K BTU A/C kicks on, the initial surge (up to 60 amp LRA according to Coleman-Mach) causes the voltage to suddenly drop and the inverter seems to think the shore power is failing so it takes over. That's not bad as the A/C usually finishes starting (surge is only ⅕ of a second or so), the voltage recovers (about 14-15 amp steady state draw) and the inverter switches back to shore power. The whole thing happens in seconds - if you're not monitoring it you may not even know what happened. BUT... a 60 amp 120 VAC starting surge is a 600 amp draw from the 12 VDC batteries when the inverter takes over. The batteries and inverter handle this just fine, but I fused my battery bank at 350 amps and the fuse blows about half the time. Slo-blow fuses would seem the answer but I don't like the ones I've seen... too slow to blow. Issue #2: Even when supplied with 110 VAC this unit needs access to 12 VDC to turn on. So if you lose 12VDC power (like with a blown 12 VDC fuse) you also lose your 110 VAC power - the inverter shuts off and doesn't pass thru the 110 VAC. Seems like a poor design to me - if it receives 120 VAC input it should pass it along to the output, with or without 12 VDC power. If it did that it would be 5 stars in my book.
