EDIT - we put seven of these bulbs in our kitchen ceiling two years ago. In the two years since, THREE HAVE BURNED OUT. 22 years my ass. These don't last. The original review is below: We changed out the seven lightbulbs in our kitchen ceiling can lights when one of them burned out recently. There was a mismatch of colors = warmth that my partner found distracting. We upgraded from 65W equivalent to these 100W equivalent bulbs. Wow, what a difference! We had recently installed a pot rack that blocked two of the lights and made our island beneath it quite dim. Not anymore. With the light from these, the island is back in business. These are so bright that we can now turn off all the kitchen lights in the evenings and only leave on the one light directly above the sink as a "nightlight". The one light is still plenty bright enough to see the whole kitchen for when you're nipping in to grab a glass or water or a snack from the fridge. We have not used the dimming feature, as the switch is not equipped for it. We also can't comment on longevity, as we've only had them for a week. One little annoying thing that occurred when we were changing out the bulbs was we couldn't initially get one of them to light up. We tried a couple of different bulbs in one socket - no go. The old bulb was still lighting, but not these new ones. After some finagling, we finally got it to light.
