I’ve been using these bulbs for 4 months with zero issues. They connect easily to WiFi, offer a great range of RGB colors and white tones, and work perfectly with Alexa. No random disconnections or glitches. Before this, I used Sengled bulbs, but they were a headache—frequent resets, server issues, and I lost control of all my lights for almost a week. Philip's Hue lighting products have carved out a top-end niche as providers of programmable LED lighting. Others, like LIFX and Sengled have tried to muscle in on Hue's perch, LIFX with wifi connectivity not requiring a hub and bright lights, Sengled by going the Hue route with hub and repeater lights, but at about 1/2 to 2/3 the price of equivalent Hue bulbs. So, owning bulbs from all three of the main programmable-LED manufacturers, I was intrigued to try these Sylvania programmable LED bulbs. I don't know if Sylvania, recently spun off from GE, intends to go into this market in a big way. But these bulbs should make a splash--and make the established competitors wary. Sylvania has been around a long time and is known as a quality manufacturer of incandescent and flourescent home bulbs as well as a variety of commercial lighting products. This is their first serious foray into programmable home LED lighting, as far as I'm aware, and I hope they fill out their portfolio because these bulbs are seriously cheap and excellent. I'm not a techie. I don't measure lumens. I only eyeball the lights. But I'm discriminating and this is what I've found. The Good: 1. Cost. Twenty-eight dollars for four bulbs. Not just four while LEDs, but four fully-programmable, full-color 60-watt equivalent bulbs. That's just $7 each! 2. The light. Strong, bright in both white and colors. 3. Ease of setup. Exceptionally easy installation and setup. I had none of the problems others complain about here with my 2.4GHz and 5GHz (which share a unified SSID) confusing the bulbs. In fact, I’ve had more issues with Hue and Sengled installations than with these bulbs. I’m not denying the problems others say they’ve experienced, but I’ve learned that with IOT installations, patience and a willingness to experiment is often necessary, even with the top products in the category. 4. App. Good basic app. 5. Worked seamlessly with my Google Home once the Syvlania account was established. The Bad: Nothing really. OK, I would like to be able to schedule by sunup and sundown, and the app doesn't appear to do that, but neither do many others. I haven't checked to see if there is an IFTT plugin for the lights as there is for Sengled. But this is a common frustration I have. The absolute best for this is Lutron and no one else comes close. A few more details: OK. This sounds like boosterism and it is. I want to see prices fall in this market. I want competitors to Hue and Sengled and LIFX. But I want quality first, not cheapo, no-name, fly-by-night crud from overseas where every light appears to be a rebadged version of another, all with suspiciously positive reviews. This light may be the one I've been looking for. Installation is a breeze. Download and install the Sylvania Wifi app, register your email, respond to an email verifying your address, choose a password, power on the bulb, search for it in the app, enter the password to your wifi network, permit location access (or deny, it works either way) and you're there. Simple. The bulb looks as powerful and colorful as my Hue and Sengled bulbs. It's impressive. The app allows you to set certain scenes ("Effects"), none of which mean much to me, but may to you. The app comes with reading, leisure, awake and and night effects already installed and you can make your own choosing color and brightness along with static, strobe and fade effects. Finally, the light remembers its last setting if its power is turned off, returning to its previous state when the power resumes.     • Sylvania app works great, I needed a work around to link to Alexa

Bulbs connected easily to the Sylvania Smart Wifi app. Was installing into a chandelier on a 3 way switch to group together to control by Alexa. The cost of these bulbs was cheaper than a Wi-Fi switch and easier for me to connect than via changing an electrical switch. The app is great, it actually recognized all 5 bulbs connected at the same time. Did not have to connect each one separately. That's where the easy part ended. No matter what I tried, I could not link the Sylvania app to Alexa skills. Kept saying something about an operating system not allowing link to occur. Won't bother going through all I tried, what finally did work, I deleted the Alexa app from my Android phone. Then went into the linking setting in the Sylvania app and it took me to Alexa sign in on my browser. Signed in and linked. Then I reinstalled Alexa and now all works perfectly. A bit of a pain but for the price of the bulbs against others, it was worth it. The price allowed me to now control my chandelier by creating a group called Hallway through Alexa app for under $20. Alexa controls the colors perfectly, dims the bulbs and turns them on and off with no issues. The size of the bulbs fit the chandelier covers perfectly. I just had to put on covers first and screw in bulbs after. I did also try Google Home, Google app recognized the bulbs and controlled them well but I still cannot get the mini to control them. Keeps saying, lights have not been setup yet. Have not gone further since Alexa is working well. I can't speak to lifespan yet but I do know that LED bulbs have better energy efficiency than older florescent bulbs. To durability, I did accidently drop one and it did not break so easier to handle than glass bulbs. ... show more

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I really like these bulbs. I’ve only ever had to replace one and I’ve had the original set for a couple years now. They are connected to my home’s WiFi and they work pretty much without issue. There have been some times I’ve had to reset a bulb here and there but that’s as easy as unscrewing it and screwing it back in. The bulbs were very easy to set up. I use the app SYLVANIA has to control them and have automations set up for various settings and such. You can add the automations to Siri if you have Apple products like I do and run them just by asking Siri. Usually that works just fine but Siri does have problems sometimes and I have to use the SYLVANIA app to run the automation. I believe that is a Siri issue more than the bulbs themselves. I rarely ever use the color changing feature but it does work quite well and has a good amount of options. They are very bright when you want and also dim down when you want. All in all I would absolutely recommend these. They work great, seem to last a long time and the price isn’t bad either. ... show more
