  • The Best Smart Bulbs I've Used in Over a Decade of Home Automation The Best Smart Bulbs I've Used in Over a Decade of Home Automation
Style: Classic Size: 3 Pack
I've been using Philips Hue bulbs for approximately 13 years and recently purchased another 3-pack, which probably tells you everything you need to know about my experience with them. These bulbs are the foundation of my entire smart lighting setup. I use them throughout my home in rooms, zones, scenes, and entertainment areas controlled through a Hue Bridge. The color quality is excellent, the white light ranges from warm and relaxing to bright daylight, and the colors are vibrant without looking harsh or artificial. What continues to impress me most is reliability. In all the years I've been using Hue products, I've never had to replace a Hue bulb because it failed. They consistently respond through the app, voice assistants, automations, and schedules without the connectivity headaches I've experienced with some less expensive smart-home products. I also use Hue Sync for movies, sports, and gaming. Being able to have the lighting react to what's happening on screen creates a much more immersive experience, and these bulbs handle those transitions smoothly. Are they more expensive than many competing smart bulbs? Absolutely. But after more than a decade of ownership, I believe the quality, reliability, and longevity justify the higher price. If you're building a smart home and want lighting that simply works day after day, Philips Hue remains my go-to choice. ... show more

  • Superior Smart Lighting – Worth It on Sale
Style: Classic Size: 3 Pack
Another Philips Hue review here. Honestly, I only buy open‑box options or wait for Prime Day because the price is steep for my taste. But it’s the ONLY smart lighting system I’ll use. The superiority comes from the Zigbee hub setup. Back when I was using Wi‑Fi bulbs, they constantly searched for a better signal—even when they already had the best connection. With 50 devices on my ultra‑fast 1TB internet, 30 of them were smart bulbs, and the constant chatter bogged everything down. Switching to Hue solved that problem. All the lights connect through a single hub, so my Wi‑Fi is fast again, and the bulbs respond instantly. The color options are excellent, the app is reliable, and the system scales beautifully across the house. Expensive, yes—but if you care about performance and stability, Hue is the smart lighting system to trust. ... show more

  • Best Hue Bulb I’ve Tried
Style: Classic Size: 2 Pack
I ended up preferring these over the other Hue bulbs I tried because the ultra-low dimming makes a noticeable difference. The biggest reason I bought these was for softer lighting at night, and being able to dim them down to around 0.2% is much nicer for that. They work really well as a night light or for low ambient lighting without feeling too bright. Setup was easy in the Hue app, and like other Philips Hue bulbs, they felt responsive and reliable. The light quality is smooth, the dimming works well, and they integrated without any issues with my smart home setup. For regular use they are great, but the real standout feature is how low they can go compared to other bulbs. If you just want a standard smart bulb, there are cheaper options out there. But if you specifically care about very low dimming for bedrooms, hallways, or nighttime lighting, these are definitely the better choice. ... show more

  • Good product that works well with Apple
Style: Classic Size: 6 Pack
A bit pricey but works well, no issues connecting to my house from the garage which isn’t very close to the hub and the hub is even in the basement so dirt and block walls and old walls with another addition wall on the old wall. Use with Apple home, but the hue app has more scenes and fun things than Apple home so you have to save the scenes you like into Apple home. Hue app connects and controls things very well with the ability to pair with other hue lights for the multicolor scenes and effects. Doesn’t match well with the gradient lights but that’s just because gradient lights use linear effects and this is just a lamp so it can’t do multiple colors at the same time like gradient capable lights or strips can. ... show more

  • Works great!
Style: Classic Size: 3 Pack
I have these bulbs all over my house and I love them. Great color mixing, good brightness, and reasonable pricing. The HUE app is easy and with the bridge it makes the experience even better!

  • Simple to use with just the app
Style: Classic Size: 2 Pack
I don’t have the Phillips hub and just connect them via Bluetooth but WiFi is an option I just don’t want to make a Phillips account. I got these bulbs to replace the ones in my ceiling fan. Set up is simple just scan the QR code and plug them in and that’s it you’ve got light which was ultimately all I needed. My only complaint is that I don’t know how to control both bulbs colors at once without using the “my scenes” pre selected colors. I’m sure it’s possible but I don’t want to do the research. ... show more

  • Excellent quality, worth it if used or on sale
Style: Classic Size: 3 Pack
Are they really expensive? Yes. Do they work exceptionally? Yes. Are they worth how expensive they are? At full price, definitely not. However, if you're getting them used or at a steep discount, 100% worth it. I got mine half off as they were used, and the original packaging was torn but they worked immediately out of the box, no imperfections. Synced up immediately, connected to Google and Siri, and all of the color spectrums worked as expected. I will say that I have an existing Hue Bridge and lights in my house already, so getting everything hooked up was seamless. I'm not sure how adequate these lights are without a hue bridge though and using Bluetooth/Wifi. The bulbs themselves are a bit larger and heavier than your average lightbulb because of their internal components but they fit any standard light socket and you're off to the races. I'd say a solid 4.5 stars with the only knock being the price. But if you're able to snag these used or on sale for Prime Day, Black Friday, etc. I'd recommend it! ... show more

  • Some Of The Best Smart Bulbs On The Market! Some Of The Best Smart Bulbs On The Market!
Style: Classic Size: 2 Pack
Ever since I went to a large electronics retail store near me to get something totally different than these bulbs and saw the Philips Hue demonstrated in concert with what I was looking for, I was hooked on them. I have them throughout my home and have them in my office at work. I have about 30 of them in my house and 10 of them in my office. To say the least, I am more than satisfied with the Philips Hue products. Now the review… Philips have been making bulbs for many years and then when they broke into the industry of smart wifi bulbs, they became quite the hit. Pair the hue bulbs with the Hue Bridge and the app, one’s creative side can really shine. The Build Quality. These bulbs have a little heft to them whereas there is a lot of technology that needs to be crammed into a space the size … well the size of a light bulb. The build quality in my opinion is pretty solid and done well. The illumination part diffuses the LEDs used in these bulbs are very smooth and do not see any hot spots whatsoever from the LEDS inside. The colors produced from the RGB LEDS are pretty rich and vibrant but as in every RGB style bulb, the light output will vary from color to color and different white temperatures. Case in point. If you choose the bulbs to light up in blue, the overall Lumens factor will be less than if you choose to use Yellow or other bright colors of the spectrum. But if you go with the white ambiance aspect, the whites will pretty much be equal in Lumens factor from the lower temperature like 2700K to the higher temperatures like 6500k. Features. These bulbs are full of them when you connect them with the Hue bridge. You can have them turn on and off with the use of Google Home, Assistant or Alexa. You can turn them on or off with the use of the user-friendly app and even turn them on or off when you are out and about as long as you have the app connected to the cloud server set up within your smart home. You can set up various different scenes as long as you have multiple Hue Bulbs. Scenes really don’t look great or seems simplistic if you have just one bulb. To get the best results, I recommend 5 or more of the Hue Bulbs in a room to get the different color scenes to show off well. (Refer to the bedroom pic I posted with this review.) The latest versions of the Hue Bulbs can be operated via Bluetooth on the dedicated Bluetooth version of the Hue app. So, with bulbs having the Bluetooth technology, you do not need to have the Hue Bridge. The downside to that is you will not be able to set up multiple rooms and you can only control 10 Hue Bulbs via Bluetooth vs. up to 50 Hue Bulbs with using the Hue Bridge. If there is anything that would be considered a downfall to these bulbs, is they are a bit on the pricy side. I have a few thousand dollars invested in my Hue Echo System and love everything about these bulbs. That would be the only flaw I can find with them. The Recap. These are some of the top of the line of smart bulbs. Can you find cheaper bulbs as far as costs is concerned? Yes, you can. But the saying goes, “You get what you pay for.” And that holds true with these bulbs. If you are willing to invest into the Hue System, you won’t be disappointed. ... show more
