I use this in the garage and I have been very happy with it. The dark taupe color looks nice and, despite the larger size, it does not visually stand out too much. At the same time, when someone is looking for the trash can, it is still easy to spot. The design holds the trash bag in place well, which improves the overall appearance and keeps the bag from slipping. Replacing bags is simple and does not take much added effort. Best indoor garbage can I have ever purchased.

I have searched for over 9 years to find the perfect trash can. Look no further, THIS IS THE ONE. It looks beautiful in my home, it’s VERY sturdy, and completely contains odors inside. The lid also has a locking mechanism that is incredibly useful if you have nosy pets or young children in the house. My favorite part about it is that not only is it functional, practical, and very sturdy, it looks pretty in my kitchen unlike every other trash can. To make sure it doesn’t move, I placed a little rubber mat under it and it stays put. I did put a standard 13 gallon garbage can insert inside it so that the plastic ridges on the interior didn’t rip my garbage bags, but that’s a personal preference. If the company made a version that a had smooth interior, this would be the best trash bin in the world!!! Either way, I’d definitely buy this again.

Great Patio Accessory!

My friend has one of these Suncast 33 Gallon Commercial Trash Cans by her pool and I've always wanted one. She's had hers for about three or so years and it still looks new! It is sturdy, easy to assemble, and holds a lot of trash! I finally purchased one for my patio for use when cooking on my Blackstone Griddle. I use a lot of paper towels during cooking and clean up and instead of wadding them up and dropping half of them on the way to the kitchen garbage, I can just lift the lid on the Suncast and voila! Bye bye paper towels, drippy raw meat wrappers, and any other debris that might be created on the patio. I even hung a funny outdoor sign on the trash can where everyone can see it. You can lock the lid to guard against critters getting in and making a mess. This is one of the best things that I've ever bought for my patio and I highly recommend this item. PS It doesn't look like a trash can so is easy one the eyes!

I've been using this outdoor trash can for several weeks, and it's been a great addition to my patio area. The construction feels sturdy and well-made, and it has held up nicely through sun, wind, and a few rainy days without showing signs of fading or damage. One thing I really appreciate is the size. It holds a surprising amount of trash without taking up too much space, making it perfect for outdoor gatherings, barbecues, and everyday use. Perfect for a single person

I bought this because I needed a trash container for in between those trips to the dump. I refuse to pay $30/month for a 96 gallon container “suitable for 7 people” and have my trash picked up.. I pay $120/year if I take it to the local dump myself. This is the perfect size for me. It’s small enough that I can reach in without straining myself and easily remove the bags when I’m ready to make the dump trip, yet big enough to hold trash from one person. It sits unobtrusively off to the side of the deck, and doesn’t have that “trash can” look. It’s solid all the way around - if you put it together correctly, so flies can’t get in, and the lid is heavier material than the trash can itself, so it doesn’t blow off. It arrived in great condition- assembly required. There is an instruction booklet and it really does pay to read it first. You think you’re going to know how to put it together, but you won’t - not until you read the instructions. It took me an hour and I was sweating by the time I finished. In all fairness, I’ve had surgery for 2 torn rotator cuffs, so my arms are weak - and I didn’t read the instructions before I started. Once I read them, assembly moved along quickly. Frankly, I think this is overpriced, but many things are today. I read many complaints about rough edges inside tearing the bags. Another reviewer said she bought a 14x14 box from Wally World and placed it inside as a liner. When I priced them online, 25 boxes was the minimal amount you could buy, so I took the box it came it, cut it apart, and used that as a liner until I can find something better. I didn’t give it 5 stars because I had to assemble it myself, but I like it enough that I would buy another one if the need arose. This doesn’t need to be used for just trash - you could store kitty litter in it, wood stove pellets, oats for your horse - only your imagination limits you.

NEW ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING THE PROBLEM OF FULL BAGS RIPPING WHEN REMOVING: I've added more information, but the bottom line is that if you use 2 bags, 1 as a liner and 1 for trash, it would most likely solve any issue with a bag full of trash tearing while removing it from the bin. Here is sort of, condensed version of, yet again, one of my short stories about this trash bin. The 2nd bin (a different color) that we purchased in 2018 still sits on our patio in about half of day in full Arizona sun (over 100 degrees for 145 days in 2020) and STILL looks and functions like new. The dark brown bin (in photo) purchased in 2013, still looks and functions like new, and sits in the garage corner safely storing garden tools and other small outdoor garden/patio supplies After a couple of pool parties we had 2 very heavy and overfilled bags tear when trying to remove them from the bin, even with the very thick bags we use. I decided to try using one bag as a liner. It works perfectly. The same "liner" bag has been in the bin for about a year now, and the 2nd (top) bag slides out perfectly, no matter how stuffed with trash. We still use the the very thick, heavy duty trash bags sold by Amazon. The cost is now $26.97 for 100 thirty-three gallon bags. The only down side is that they do not have drawstrings, but do include twist ties for closing. They now they offer a clear bag, which I find useful for not only trash, but also for storing large comforter sets, boxed items like books and Christmas decorations, etc., for an added layer of protection.. These bags are thicker than all the national name brand bags. The site doesn't include the thickness, but their bags are much thicker than any of the big name brand bags we have tried. If interested, type this into the search bar: 33 Gallon Trash Bags (100 Count w/Ties Value Pack), Large Black Garbage Bags 30 Gallon - 32 Gallon - 35 Gallon. PREVIOUS REVIEW: The photo I have posted, taken today, is of a 5 year, 4 month old Suncast Outdoor Trash Hideaway, which I purchased from Amazon in April, 2013. Since that time the bin has been sitting on my covered patio in an area that faces the morning sun until at least 11:00 to noon during the long summer months, with temperatures of 90-100 degrees, or higher. Our town requires that all trash be bagged, so we put a 33 gallon trash bag in the bin. Each day we empty the trash bins from the house into the bag in the Suncast bin. When the trash bag is full we take it out to the large containers provided by the town that are stored behind our house, usually twice a week. I am writing this review now because we recently purchased a 2nd Suncast bin when we found that they also come in a lighter (beige?) color, which matches the patio colors, block wall, etc., and blends in better than the dark brown. HOWEVER, our more than 5 year old Suncast bin is STILL in nearly perfect condition. The photo shows that it is kind of dirty/dusty right now because we have had several monsoon dust storms in the last few days, but we normally hose it off once a week and it cleans up like new. It is also almost waterproof. It can be hosed off without water getting into the trash bag. When we have had severe storms where the rain has come down very hard and sideways there have been a couple of times where a little water got into the bag in the bin. The ONLY thing wrong with this bin, which was my fault, is that the plastic/rubber hinges partially broke when I knocked it over while the cover was open. However, it has in no way affected the way it seals the top. While I normally would not write a long review about a product designed to hold trash, I do feel that the quality and design of this product at such a reasonable price deserves to be acknowledged. Because the top provides a pretty good seal we can have the bin near our back door without attracting dozens of flies. We will use the old bin, which will fit neatly into a garage corner, for storing smaller garden items-trimmers, small shovels, etc. I believe this product will be around long after we're gone :)

Great water-resistant outdoor trash can - DIY cardboard liner dimensions and instructions provided!

I have a couple of these for use outdoors at my home. Great product, but Suncast left the interior unfinished and it can snag full trash bags. I've seen many reviews mentioning lining the interior with cardboard but didn't see any with exact dimensions. I'm providing dimensions and instructions here to save you time. Cardboard inserts work perfectly and are easy to make with just a tape measure, yardstick and heavy duty scissors or a cardboard cutter (which I used). 1) Left and Right sides - 13-1/8" wide x 25-7/8" tall. Install these first. They will press into position and hold themselves in place. 2) Front and back - 16-1/4" wide and 25-7/8" tall. Create a 1" corner crease or tab on each end of the 16-1/4" width (I've provided a picture of the pieces laid out and show the corner creases). The corner creases will press agaist the side left and right side walls. Next, press the front and back cardboard pieces into position inside the can. The pieces are wide enough to be contoured to the interior shape of the trash can and the corner tabs should fit tightly against the side walls. NOTE: You can use the front and back pieces of the shipping box for the front and rear liners of the trash can, but there isn't enough material left to make the left and right side inserts. In my case the cardboard cut at these dimensions created a tight enough pressure fit that I didn't need to tape or glue everthing together. Your choice. It's definitely easier to pull out the cardboard liner if everything isn't glued together. I've included some pictures of the cardboard and the finished product.

I think most people expressed their general enthusiasm about the item and I only can join the happy choir as it is truly great item. I ordered two of them and they are keepers. I wanted to share with you something that others seems to omit and those are the things I wish I knew while searching for it as they would help me to make the right decision so here they are: COLOR BEWARE!!!! or rejoice! I ordered brown and I was really hoping to get that dark deep brown that is posted but you know how it is with ordering online. Sometimes the color is way off. So this time, it was total delight. I am so happy. When I opened the box and I saw the exact color I wished for I was so happy. I posted the color I ordered along with my review so you can see which one on the amazon website I ordered and so you know that this is the exact color that they shipped. BACK VIEW.. I saw the same brand making similar container that has bit differnt patter, more of a planks then wicker and frankly I like it better but could not find it anywhere. So I picked this one instead with lower part plank like pattern and the upper part the wicker pattern. To my surprise the back side is all plank! So if I want I can keep them that way for the look I prefer, all planks... look. This require to turn the bin backwards so the flap will not open when you approach it so if this does not bother you and you can do bit of a extra lift then you can get that look too.. just by turning the bean back to front... no, you can not flip the sides while you putting it together because the sides are not interchangeable. Their position is set. But this is really great news for me. LOCK! that they don't tell you about! Yes it comes with a lock! It is a little slide type of thing that the top comes with and so once you lift the top, place your stuff inside and then close it, just by the same movement almost you can lock it... as ll you have to do is slide down or up the handle you use to lift it and that way it is locked or opened, YOU can keep it either all locked or all open it does not lock by itself. This is nifty to protect from smart racoons or kids. IT DOES NOT COME ASSAMBLED BUT YOU SNAP THE 6 PIECES IN PLACE IN 3 MINUTES. NO TOOLS. I was bit concerned when it come in a flat box I went.. oh.. oh.. As I know putting together some plastic containers may require screws and lots of gymnastics, I am not happy to do that. So this was a relief to see that NO TOOLS are required, NONE whatsoever. It snaps snap snap and done.. I had to do it twice since I bought two containers that I need for two places so it was fun to learn on the first one and then use the skills on the second one. MY TIPS FOR SNAPPING SIDES: - don't attempt to do the long sides as they are upwards, that is more complicated and makes process difficult. - start with all pieces sorted and lying flat. - look carefully at the long sides, they come in two pairs, put them aside together. - work near a clean wall so you can push the box agains the wall to snap sides in place , wall will be your assistant, a second person.. START with a long flat side.. on the floor.. snap the bottom at the end of it. Then snap the opposite side on it.. but beware the pairs of long walls with the same interior pattern need to face each other. So now put them on the opposite side, you will need to figure out which sides to put in first as the other two have to cover the first pair. snap them on.. Now just add the lid and you are done.
