1. Very simple assembly. 2. Lightweight, easy to move & store 3. Noise level is very low, lower than a string trimmer. 4. Mulch size is variable, I used the smallest size and it was almost dirt. I don't think you even need to compost it. Straight to garden. Downside: I would imagine that choosing a course mulch or inserting twigs & branches will significantly reduce the life of cutting wires. Don't use it for chipping. Also watch out for acorns.     • Not sure it's worth it
Just received at and tried it out. First impressions: it is probably exactly what I need in some circumstances but not for my current workload. I'm cutting tall green weeds, lots of fibrous stems. The shredder will chew through them but I constantly need to stop and unwind the chewed up stems. The volume reduction is as good as the product literature says. I chewed through a lot of weeds and it left only a cubic foot or so of mulchy stuff. It will probably be great for dry, less fibery stuff like leaves and maybe clumps of grass clippings. THe cord is an issue, You have to put the shredder near an outlet or you need a long extension cord. I ended up bagging and carrying. (Putting the bag in place is just a little cumbersome). The bottom line is that I got a result just as good from my cordless string trimmer. Cut down the weeds, work at them a little while to chew them up and they're already in place. No need to bag them and carry them where you want them. Plus, adding string as it gets worn away is lots easier than the shredder. The heavy-duty trimmer (an Ego product) was cheaper than the shredder and comes with a 2.5AH battery that I haven't actually run dry yet. Added advantage for me, I have a walk-behind self-propelled Ego mower with a 7.5 AH battery and the batteries and chargers are interchangeable if needed. I will hold onto the shredder to see how useful it is when stuff dries out, but don't expect to use it any time soon. ... show more

Can toss dust etc into air. I put 5 gallon lid on leaves which eliminates this problem

Didn't come with all the screws wasn't able to get screws from manufacture,located them at hardware store.

I hoped to mulch rather than dispose of my leaves so was excited to try this product. Though flimsy. it was easy enough to put together and maneuver. First off, it mulched to far small pieces than my old blower vac but did not mulch 17:1 as advertised. Also, after turning off to empty my second (small) bag of mulch, it would not turn back on. I checked the outlet power as well as the extension cord - all good. I also let it cool down overnight - no luck - it’s dead. I do not recommend this product. ... show more

    • Whips the leaves to bits
Typical to "build by the numbers" projects the instructions could have been better, but they did suffice. Got it together without blood or swearing and we have put it to work. The adjustability for different conditions is easy to use, but I am not so sure what it does. We like it.
