This little pruning saw impressed me more than I expected. It's compact, lightweight, and surprisingly capable for routine yard maintenance. For trimming small branches, shrubs, and general cleanup, it cuts quickly and cleanly with very little effort. The included battery, charger, and accessories make it feel like a complete kit that's ready to use right out of the box. One of the things I appreciated most is how easy it is to handle. Its size makes it much less intimidating than a full-size chainsaw, and it's comfortable to use in tighter spaces or when working overhead. I only maintain a relatively small yard, so I haven't pushed it through heavy, all-day use, but for the type of pruning I regularly do, it's been an excellent fit. The reason I'm stopping at four stars is the chain tensioning system. It works, but the design could definitely be improved. Adjusting the chain isn't as straightforward or confidence-inspiring as it should be, and that's probably my biggest complaint about an otherwise well-designed tool. Aside from that issue, the saw performs very well. It has plenty of cutting power for its intended purpose, feels balanced in the hand, and makes quick work of branches that would take much longer with manual pruners or a hand saw. If your needs are similar to mine and you're maintaining a small to medium-sized yard, this is a very practical tool that's easy to recommend despite the less-than-perfect tensioning mechanism. ... show more

Im not as impressed as others were. Yes its small and light and can cut branches probably up to 5” but there are flaws. I bought this to trim the crown of a robellini palm tree. I could use my 36” chainsaw but it was too heavy. The fibers were getting stuck inside and jamming the gear. I had to strip and clean it which took longer time than my first cut. What you see in the photo in just a fraction of the fibers and small branches inside. Since I only bought for only $22 at Costco. I’ll probably keep it for other tasks. The chain tensioner is also flawed. Other items included in the case are cheap gloves, glasses, etc. What do you expect? It’s made from China. ... show more

I received this Sun Joe 20V EcoSharp Cordless Handheld Pruning Saw through the Vine program for an honest evaluation. First Impressions & Kit Contents Out of the box, this is a very impressive-looking package. The kit is highly comprehensive and includes a durable storage case, the pruning saw itself, a 4.0Ah battery with its charger, two chains, and all the necessary assembly tools. Visually, the tool has a standout, premium design that looks great both on the shelf and out in the yard. Initial Setup & Performance Initial assembly requires loosening the side cover to tension the pre-installed chain. After properly tensioning the chain and adding bar and chain oil, I took it out to clear a few branches. In operation, this saw is definitely designed for light, small-limb maintenance rather than heavier cutting. When attempting to cut slightly larger limbs, the chain experienced significant chatter and struggled to bite smoothly. The Issue: Mechanical Tensioning Defect After just a brief period of use, I noticed the chain had become dangerously loose. Upon attempting to retighten it, I discovered a significant design or manufacturing issue with the tensioning mechanism. The adjustment screw system is not robust enough; the adjustment stud repeatedly slips out of the locating hole on the guide bar, allowing the bar to slide freely and lose all tension. Through careful and meticulous adjustment, I could temporarily secure the bar, but the vibration of cutting quickly causes the stud to disengage from the bar hole again. Ergonomics & Safety It is a shame the tensioning system fails, because the ergonomics of the saw are quite good. It feels well-balanced in the hand and features excellent safety mechanisms, including a protective guard over the top of the chain and a wrap-around hand guard to protect your fingers from debris. Because of the mechanical failure, I was unable to use it long enough to accurately judge the overall battery runtime. Conclusion At this time, I cannot recommend this product as it proved unusable out of the box due to a critical safety and mechanical flaw. The tool presentation, battery inclusion, and safety features are excellent, and I can see its potential as a great homeowner pruning tool if it functioned correctly. I plan to reach out to Sun Joe’s customer support team to determine if this is an isolated defect covered under their factory warranty.     • Great for cutting smaller to average size limbs that traditional loppers can't!
This little handheld chainsaw is the perfect size for cutting through small tree branches with ease! I have only used this on tree branches that are just a bit too big for traditional manual "loppers" and I'm so glad that I ordered this! It has saved so much time and hard work in trimming limbs off of a very stubborn tree! This saw is very easy to use, the compact design makes it incredibly easy to take along and the durability of the blade has been on point as I've cut through many limbs as easy as it was with the first limb, so it's holding it sharpness, so far! The battery life appears to be great as I've used it over a handful of afternoons and I've only had to charge it once since I received it! I imagine that if you are constantly using it that it would easily get you through a few hours. I have not attempted to cut through anything thicker than the blade is long, but I feel that it wouldn't have much issue, you would just have to work the angles. It is also a bonus that it comes with gloves as well as the oil that you need for the chainsaw! I have purchased a larger saw before that did not come with any and it was very frustrating trying to find the right kind! It also includes a heavy duty plastic housing case to store and carry it!
