  • Works like a champ!!
Style: 1HP
My pump showed up today, and I put it straight to work. Instructions weren't terrible, but could be a little clearer. I figured out the initial startup and air purge without any issues. It's a hefty little sucker, and for being plastic appears quite sturdy and we'll built. The two adapters that come with it seem thick and sturdy as well. If you're looking to hook up a yard hose to it then you're in luck. It will screw right on there with the supplied reducer. I bought it because of the 1 hp motor, and high flow rate, and I wanted to use a 1 1/2 inch hose. Unfortunately, the adapters that came with it are only reducers fro 1 12 inches. Now granted, the largest diameter reducer is 1 1/4 inches, so I cut off the excess smaller end and the hose fit with a hose clamp with some minor leakage. It did not appear to affect the pumping suction though. I will go purchase a threaded coupler from the hardware store and use the 1 1/2 inch adapter that I already have. Not a big deal really. I bought it to finish draining my pool for a deep clean. My old Wayne pump that I've had for years and rebuilt a couple of times finally decided to croak for good leaving about 2 ft of water in a 24 ft round pool. I was about to spend about 4 times more than this pump costs, and I thought for the price, why not? So I hooked up the hose, purged the air, and plugged it up. This sucker is a hoss!! It completely filled the 1.5 inch hose and started throwing some water! It drained the remaining water in under an hr. One note if you're not paying attention to detail...it only drains down to 3/4 inch. If you're looking for lower than that, look elsewhere. It was perfect for my needs. On a positive note, it will suck debris up to 1/2 inch, and I can tell you it does it effectively without any snafu's! Oh yeah, another plus is that it's very quiet which is nice. The only real downside that I see to this pump is the topside discharge. Once your water gets low enough, the weight of the hose will tip it over. So I had to babysit it for a bit close to the end. I believe that I will solve this by making a hard vertical pvc pipe with a 90 at the top with an extension to attach the hose to. It will be a fairly cheap fix and work well I think. You could adapt that setup to any situation that you have. Overall, I would highly recommend this pump after first use!! It performed flawlessly! The price point is unbeatable for a 3500 gal/ hr pump and a 1 hp motor. I will update after I've used it a few more times, but for now...5 stars!! ... show more

  • Very valuable household item!
Style: 1HP
I did not expect to use this at all! When I bought it, I figured I’ll get a cheap one for my newly built pool “just in case.” Now we have a lot of rain lately here in CA. I have been using this a few times already to quickly drain some of the pool water to prevent it from overflowing (pool overflow line is not quick enough). It works very quick and efficient, very easy to use once you’re familiar with the set-up (hose). We are so happy with this purchase. Saved us from headaches from this rainy/stormy weather. FYI. The only downside is that it needs a deep water in order for this to work properly. It wont work on shallow puddles of water. But I can’t complain since it did what I wanted to do (for pool emergency drain). ... show more

  • Worked fine but not for long term use
Style: 1/2HP
The city had a water leak in the alley that kept filling up my sprinkler valve box. The leak last 3 months. So I bought this a set it on a timer to pump out every 2 hours for 15 minutes (it took about 1 1/2 hours for my valve box to fill). My valve box was large enough that it held about 110 gallons of water. It worked great a first but the float on the low level switch would get stuck and the pump would not come on. I would have to go and shake the pump a little to get the float loose so pump would come on. Over all it worked as intended and I did use it for about 3 months straight on a timer. When I took it out I did clean it up and back flush the pump to clean it out and it’s ready for the next time I need it ... show more

  • Started off great.
Style: 1HP
The media could not be loaded. I have had this pump for less than a year and up until recently it had been performing great. I have only used it to pump my hot tub out twice and a neighbor's tiny kid pool out once. 3 days ago we were hit my a huge storm that put down a TON of rain and everyone's window wells were filling up with water. I had water 8 inches up on one of my basement windows as well as my next door neighbor. We grabbed this pump to help us bail water put of our window wells and in the middle of all this it quit working reliably. It let me down when I needed it the most. We ended up having to toss it aside and just bucket out the water. I works for a while then it slows way down to where water is hardly coming out as if it's just chu chu chugging. Then finally it will slowly pick up the pace and and within less than a minute it slows way back down to barely any output and chuggs for a bit then will speed back up. I tried recreating it using a bucket in this video and and it shows it chugging and then finally ramping back up. Then it almost tipped and sprayed me. Sometimes when I trial it in a bucket, the bucket will be almost all the way full before it starts to even put out water. Kind of frustrating in the middle of a flash flood that was basically flooding our entire neighborhood. ... show more

  • Fantastic professional quality Pump
Style: 1HP
I have worked with many many pumps over the years, so many different kinds and types I have lost track. This is the strongest pump I have ever used (in this specific category), I am very impressed and I don’t impress easy. Please make sure to use as thick of a hose that you can! The quality of the pump is great and it has weight to it. I highly recommend this pump. Also the seller is great, we ran into a technical issue and they are super responsive and helpful and fully resolved our issue. Big plus for excellent customer service! Also the price is unbeatable, I thought this was going to be a throw away pump because of the price and then, after receiving it and seeing the quality and then using it for hours and hours on end, I realized this a long term pump. Edit: Also I’ve read other reviews here where people claim it’s cheaply made and that’s just not true. I so many pumps from Home Depot and other pump stores, expensive and cheap, they’re all the same, a motor in a plastic housing lol. You can tell once you turn it on if it’s a good pump or not. What makes the Home Depot one for $200 any better quality? I have both and I prefer this one. To me it primes and pumps easier. ... show more
