  • Service Department was helpful
I purchased this pump last year to boost the water pressure at our seasonal cabin. I had an old pump with a pressure tank that was on the water line when we bought the cabin. After 10 years, the pressure tank rusted through and it was time for an upgrade. I purchased this pump mainly on a recommendation from an other person on the lake. I installed the pump last season, it worked great ( only wish you could manually reduce the pressure) and removed the pump and stored it for the winter. When I went to reinstall the pump, I could not get it to reset and begin pumping. I called the manufacturer and one of the service technicians walked me through the fix. I did have to remove the pump from the impeller housing, but it was only 6 screws. The pump is running like a charm. ... show more

  • Works but not perfect.
Works as stated. I did not have leak problems as many others, but I did wrap threads with Teflon tape as I do all things with water. loud, one person said it was like grinding up rocks, yes I would agree with that 100%. For something to be in the home, its louder than it probably should be. But I think it will turn into white noise once I get use to it. Drawbacks: Loud, no adjustments for when (what PSI) the pump kicks on, probably would benefit from a flow switch as well for a slower smoother ramp ups as it dims my lights when it first kicks on, The footing is absolutely a terrible design. Positive: works as promised, decent price, provides the pressure, pressurizes quick, runs for a short period after the faucet is closed, on the small side. Overall comments: Overall I gave this a 4 star rating when it really should have been like a 3.4/3.5. I settled on 4 because I don't hate it but it could have been better in some ways. I think this unit would benefit from a flow switch and pressure run system for perhaps a slower ramp up to full pressurizing of the system. one unacceptable thing about the pump is the footing/base. its very unstable. not sure why the design calls for 3 leg/points, just stupid if you ask me. it tips easily but held in place by the plumbing. Make it four legs/points and be done with it. It needs more adjustment options for when the pump kicks on and how much pressure it is delivering. the PRV solves the out going pressure, however, it doesn't seem like two huge request if you ask me and PRVs cost additional money. Not sure what you should expect at 250 dollars though as it is a pretty big jump from there to other pumps. I won't be returning it, there are a couple of conformable options, they all generally look similar. no one has said much about the sound on similar looking units. I guess it comes down to how long it last now. I followed the instructions to the tee, even the piping size. ... show more

  • Works, but specialized install
This is an interesting pump. I was in the market for a whole home pressure boosting system for low city water pressure. My static PSI is around 30 and drops below 25 during use (measured at the shutoff). We are on a hill and others experience low pressure, so the city recommends installing a pump for more pressure. The price of the pump is what got me interested, plus no need for an expansion tank. Here are a few very important details: - The pump will only turn on when it senses a DROP in pressure, not necessary water flow at the faucet. - After water flow has stopped, the pump will continue to pressurize the system to about 80 PSI. - Any inline expansion tank WILL affect the pump sensor and will not operate as expected. Since I use a water heater tank and not a tankless heater, my installation requires a small pressure tank to stabilize the system (As water in the tank heats, it expands and causes the system to pressurize. The tank absorbs the pressure and reduces strain). With the default pump installation (Pressure limiter set to 20 PSI), having a pressure tank causes water flow to reduce to a trickle before the pump kicks on. My installation includes a pressure reducer before AND after the pump, ~25 PSI in and reduced to ~50 PSI out. 50 PSI is more than enough, 70 is way too much IMO. My water line is split, half feeds the cold water supply and the other half feeds my water tank. Directly after the split, I have a one way valve, then pressure tank. This works well enough, turning on cold water almost instantly turns on the pump, and only turning on hot water reduces pressure quite a bit before turning on, but still allows the pump to operate. I found this system works best with single handed faucets that mix cold and hot water, causing little pressure drop before turning on. Now the pump itself is quite loud and sounds like it's grinding up rocks. I have it installed downstairs and can hear it clearly upstairs. I plan on closing off the utility room with rockwool and hope that helps. Eventually I might switch to a standard well pump based system with a large pressure tank and a pressure switch, but the low cost of this pump was perfect to start off with. Note, for a proper install you will need quite a bit of plumbing parts. Avoid this type of system if you have a water tank. ... show more
