Description

Factory pre-charge: 38 psi (pounds per square inch). Maximum working pressure 100 psi. Maximum operating temperature 200 F (degree Fahrenheit). Engineered to provide years of trouble-free service using cold rolled steel for a higher strength to weight ratio. Rugged, stable steel base with protective plastic strip. Heavy-duty butyl rubber diaphragm and durable polyolefin liner to prevent corrosion. Water worker tanks feature an appliance quality finish which is resistant to sunlight and harsh conditions. All tanks are completely lead free for safety. Meets NSF (National Sanitation Foundation) Standard 61 for clean, safe drinking water. 5 year . Blue tank. From the Manufacturer The WaterWorker pre-charged tanks utilize a butyl composite diaphragm, which flexes up and down based on water level and air pressure, as the pump fills the tank with water the air above the diaphragm is compressed, increasing the pressure in the tank until the pump cut-off pressure is reached. When water is drawn from the tank, the pressure inside the tank decreases until the pressure switch starts the pump. The amount of usable water for every pump cycles is called drawdown. The greater drawn-down capacity you select, the less your pump cycles saving energy, money, and extending your pump life. Advantages over galvanized well tanks: Pre-charged tanks do not have water-logging problems like the galvanized tanks. The air and water are totally separated using a diaphragm. No external air controls needed. Pre-charged tanks have a much larger draw-down for the same physical size. Larger draw down reduces pump cycles and pump wear, i.e. at 30/50 PSIG range three times the draw-down for pre-charged tanks of the same physical size. Pre-charged Tanks completely empty during each pump cycle. Pre-charged Tanks are much smaller and easier to handle that galvanized well tanks. Pre- charged tanks with a 30/50 Pressure Switch would be one-third the size of a galvanized tank with the same drawdown. Deep Well Jet Pumps could use either a vertical tank or a horizontal tank, depending on space requirements and sizing. Submersible Pump applications would usually use vertical tanks, again based on proper sizing. Shallow Well Jet Pumps could use vertical or horizontal tanks, based on proper sizing. The rule of thumb in sizing is to count the number of fixtures in the home, i.e. sinks, showers, toilets, dishwasher, faucets, washing machines, outside faucets, etc. and multiply it by 3. Example: a house with 11 fixtures x 3 would be 33-Gallon tank. We would suggest our 44-Gallon tank, which is the next larger sized tank.

  • Water Tank
Size: 20 Gallon
Nice tank but a poor shipping container. Shipped only in a card board box with a plastic bag over the tank and plenty of room for damage in shipment. The tank we received only had a small ding in the bottom part of it. We got the 20 gal. tank as this is the size we use. It came pressurized at 38 psi. This is for a 40-60 well pressure switch. We do not recommend this tank for that sort of switch. Our pressure switch is 20-40 and we let the air off down to 18 lbs pressure before installing. We are getting 5.5 gal of water draw down from the tank before the pump kicks on. This is about all the water a 20 gal tank will hold, the rest is just air and the bladder inside. It is very important the air in the tank be set right before installing any water pressure tank. Always 2 psi below the low pressure point. Determine the pressure switch you have first such as ours 20-40, then there is 30-50, then 40-60. The inside cover of the switch should show this. The low pressure is when the pump kicks on, the high is when it kicks off. Thus the air pressure should be 18, 28, or 38 in the tank before ever installing according to the pressure switch. If the air pressure is not right it will cause the pump to cycle too fast, less draw down, rattling of water lines, and most of all expansion of the bladder inside the tank over time and the tank becomes water logged. The latter is caused by having too much air above the low pressure of the pump switch. We only get about 10 years use out of any these pressure tanks and they have to be changed. The weakest part of any of them is the elbow at the bottom of the tank. Its made of cheap cast metal which rust or corrodes over time and sometimes will block water flow to the tank. This elbow needs be brass or other non corrosive metal. This tank has a nice liner inside down to the point of the elbow and I suspect the elbow to fail after few years use, as there is no protection from rust or corrosion in that area. It would be cheaper for the company to discard all the waste of ink on the shipping box and use a plain card board box and pack this tank in styrofoam for shipping, the way this item is shipped is my only complaint about it. ... show more
