    • Fit perfect, quick fix
My electric heating element was tripping the breaker in my RV. I ordered this replacement. It's a bit longer, but otherwise an exact match. You need a 1.5" thinwall socket to get the old one out. I used an air driven impact wrench because the ability to get the socket on is limited by the thin nature of the heating element head. It wants to pop off. But the impact tool on a low setting can be aligned perfectly and since the tool does the work, all you need to do is hold it straight and level. 20 seconds later the old one is out. I cleaned up the hole, put the new one in, tightened it with a hand wrench, and put things back together, filled the hot water tank, and tested it out. Works perfect. No leaks or issues. Water was plenty hot. Draws about 1200W according to my kill-a-watt. Breaker held fine for the test, so I think it's good to go. ... show more

    • Fixes a common problem and gets the dual element heater back in service...
Burned out my OEM Electric Water Heater element (somehow, who knows) which wasn't an issue as this particular RV heater also can heat using Propane when off Grid. Wanted to fix it though so decided to by 2 of these (hot spare for next time it fails). Install was a bit of a PITA as I had to remove the gas igniter tube which was in the way of accessing the nuts for the element cover... But, no big deal and it now is back in service... It would be nice to have some sort of LED indicator light to know the element is "ON", but that's an issue for the heater manufacturer, not this particular part... If you leave the electric element on with no water in the heater, it burns out, which is what I assume causes 90% of these failures... Also, a standard wall thickness socket won't fit, get the special thin walled tool to save a lot of hassle and time. ... show more

    • NEEDED TO BUY A SPECIAL WRENCH TO INSTALL THIS
The element was easy enough to replace once we bought the special wrench big enough to get the other one out. Would be nice if they sold a combo unit with the special wrench. But, good product and fixed our problem.

    • Good Element Replacement Decision
This was the correct water heater element needed to replace one that was burnt out. No issues. Water was hot. Easy install and replace. Need a special tool/ socket to replace the element. But...all went well for me.

this went right in. Just a little info about this element, I replaced the element in a 6 gallon water heater on my travel trailer. The pic's I posted show the new and old Elements and a rod I used to measure the depth of the water heater. As You can see the new Element is longer than the old one BUT the rod is how deep the tank is so the longer Element is no problem in the tank. I know there are many questions about the longer Element but the longer one works great. Also, This Element takes a 1 1/2 inch THIN WALL socket to remove and install. You also have to move the gas line to get to the Element. This is a easy fix, just remember to unplug the trailer, turn off the breaker and release the water pressure before working on it. This is a Suburban original part, fit the original perfectly. My photos will show the original and replacement side by side, along with packaging. I replaced the element for a Suburban SW6DEL, within a 2018 Keystone Outback that I recently purchased used. I could tell previous owner never drained the tank in 5 years when I checked the anode so I proactively replaced the element. Typically, I would only flush out with the anode removed but I found it far more effective to flush out the tank with both, the element and the anode removed. This tool via link below is great to remove this element, and fits the anode/plug also.
