Was not love at first sight, but..

I purchased this after reading positive reviews. I have had 3 surgeries to alleviate the PF that I have experienced over the span of 30 years. Years and years of tennis and running as well as inferior shoes have taken their toll. I initially tried this a few nights after receiving it. Many straps and adjustments to contend with. A bit cumbersome at night and after 4 nights, in the corner it went. Since then I have purchased a strap brace, in the corner, compression socks, in the corner, a competitors soft sock/strap, yep, in the corner and a few more pair of orthotics which also ended up in the corner with the other 5 pair. After spending a couple of hundred dollars on all of this since the purchase of this brace, I decided to give the splint another try. The key here is persistence and patience. The wedges that are included are a must addition for proper fit. The side straps also needed to be adjusted as to not pull the foot past 90 degrees or numbing will result. Finally, the 3 cross straps must be adjusted not tighter than snug. Over tightening will also result in numbing and tingling of the foot as the night progresses. I have also found that wearing a long sock makes it a bit more comfortable. Use this religiously and don't give up on it. I now run a couple of miles a day, wear this splint at night and my foot is without pain the next morning.

It helped with severe plantar fasciitis in just 4 nights, see tips here.

We've had this splint for a week now, I wanted to wait to try it out well before leaving a review. My husband has severe plantar fasciitis and it's been so bad lately he's been limping a lot. We tried the socks and various arch / shoe inserts but those didn't help much so this was the next suggestion by friends and doctor. We got a large and it fit great. He's 6'1, 220 lbs and wears a size 11-12 in shoes and has a wide foot. There was a little extra room so I suspect someone with a larger foot would find this plenty roomy too. The splint comes with a booklet, not that he read it of course, he had it all velcro'd on by time I got the booklet out to show him how to do it. We did make some adjustments though once reading the instructions, but it is pretty self explanatory as to what strap goes where and how to tighten them. It comes with two wedges, small and large. He used the smaller wedge for the first hour but he began feeling pain in the ball of his foot (upper) and after reading another review I suggested he loosen the straps. Someone said that looser was fine that they still got the same benefits and it allowed them to feel more comfortable and sleep better with it on. We did that and removed the smaller wedge for awhile and that helped. Later we replaced the wedge and made sure it was pushed further down than we first had it and that seemed to be the right fit for him. After figuring out the right adjustments he wore it each night for 4 nights and by night two he could tell a difference. Morning 5 his limp is gone and he hasn't said a word about his foot hurting. Some say it's better after just one or two nights but for him it took 4, but we did talk to others who said it can take weeks too. I just have to now convince him to keep wearing it. ha ha. He feels better and off it goes. I think it'll be back on once the pain comes back though. Final tips we found helpful: You can walk on it lightly if you need it to go to the bathroom etc. You can wear it with or without socks, he found with socks better. It's better with the straps not on too tight. Push the wedge down pretty far, don't just push it in a little ways. Remove wedge if it hurts. Adjust straps with knee bent and have someone help you if possible.

A little awkward to wear in bed but worth every penny!

It certainly makes a difference with my plantar fasciitis. It does as described and keeps my foot in the extended position throughout the night. It does have some drawbacks, being a hard splint, which can make it a bit awkward to wear while sleeping... especially for a side sleeper like me. But not having horrible, stabbing pain in my heel after waking is absolutely worth any awkwardness while sleeping, and you don't risk overextending your toe joints overnight like you do with the soft Straussburg-patterned socks. It's worth noting that it doesn't keep your foot strongly strapped into position - it does allow a degree of flexion, and doesn't maintain a 90 degree angle all night. This may be an issue for some. While it also fits properly, be very careful not to over-tighten the straps. I tightened them a little too much (they felt plenty loose before I went to sleep) and woke up a couple hours later to a completely, totally numb foot and ankle.

Fixed plantar fasciitis after 4 months of pain - I run ~50 miles per week

I run 40-60 miles per week participate in marathons and half marathons. I first noticed something wrong with my foot around November or early December -- a tightness whenever I got out of my car after commuting to work in the morning. I didn't think much of it. Then in late December the tightness turned to pain and I quickly realized I had plantar fasciitis. I ran once more a couple days later and then took 6 days off running. It didn't go away. I started being much more careful about my running. I realized interval training hurt it much worse. I reduced mileage and rotated shoes. I tried massaging it throughout the day or rolling my foot on a frozen water bottle. Nothing worked more than temporarily. In late March I came down with a slight knee injury and decided to take a couple weeks off running and only bike. My plantar fasciitis didn't improve at all -- even just walking around was irritating it. I started running again and decided I needed to try something else. A little over a week ago I purchased this product. The first night I adjusted it too tight and took it off in the middle of the night. The second night I fixed the adjustment and wore it all night. When I woke up in the morning my foot didn't hurt, although the pain returned later in the day. Since then I've worn it every night for about a week and I can say that my plantar fasciitis has improved dramatically. It only hurts slightly in the afternoons. I really feel like this product is helping it heal. It's annoying to wear to bed, but it's worth it if this is what it takes to eliminate the problem. I highly recommend it.
