An excellent item, it is the state of art and it comes with the price. The flashlight is compact and very bright with distraction features in two modes of operation. Thumb access is easy and ambidextrous. The green laser is bright and has two modes, constant or only when activated, and can be sighted in. The negative is getting a holster used for this light has to be custom ordered depending on what weapon you mounted on.

2020 update: The TLR-2 HLG is still going strong, several thousand rounds and a few battery changes later. Would buy one again in a heartbeat! ——— Original review: I was apprehensive at first, but I'm definitely glad I got the High Lumen, Green Laser version of the TLR-2 streamlight! I did a ton of research on these lights, and if you need any help deciding which is right for you, head over to streamlight's website - they have a product selector to help you choose what's best. (...). This is what I used when choosing to go with this particular model. PROS: High Lumen lights up the room! But it's not "too much" for a weapon mounted light. Strobe function is OUTSTANDING! The green laser is pure, has a smooth circular shape, and has much more definition at long distances compared to red lasers. (though, I do not have experience with the red laser version of these streamlights, YMMV) Super simple to install. Comes with the Glock/Universal mounting 'key' installed, but changing it out is simple. Very good diagrams in the instruction manual. CONS(?) I put a ? because I really cannot pick out any negatives about this light... but in the interest of being fair... Price is, of course, a little steep... but, you do get what you pay for. If you're in the market for a weaponlight, you've probably braced yourself for the sticker shock. But, then again, this one has ALL of the bells and whistles... I would not hesitate to buy one of the cheaper streamlights either! Quality is rock solid! I'll put this under the cons, but the battery door can be..... tricky. It isnt' by ANY means difficult or a major pain, just take your time and read the booklet! All in all, I'd give this 10 stars if I could. This model certainly has a lot of extra features, and you may or may not want them, or depending on budget, it may not be for you. I will say that if you can, I'd save up and get this or just invoke the "buy once, cry once" rule! You won't be disappointed.

Style: With Red Laser
The whole body is aluminum and head. I though head was plastic but nope accidental sanding determined metal also. But laser is polymere but functions well sights in perfect with no drift after firing. Its a good light and ill be posting review vs surefire x400 on youtube. I prefer the streamlight for many reasons. So modular and snag free with battery cap thats beefy with steel hatch thingy. Its hella bright but youll wana go to rechargables cause it do eat the batteries. Slowly dims as depleted. But first 20 mins will indeed impress. Beam pattern can only be described as a big ball of white searing light out to 100 yards or more. I dremeled the toggle down to a stump more or less and that leaves zero snag points or drop vulnabilities. O ring sealed but havent taken it diving lately. Its got a sorta easy bump somewhat loosish rocker switch but that makes it easy to do the bump then click for strobe. Stobe is all that it is advertised to be and with fresh batteries will indeed blind someone for a minute. I just like the light. Surefire is dimmer beam but dhs certified laser so little tlr does have slightly smaller laser dot but still very bright very visable. Surefire has plastic switches and 50 million snagle points two lock out modes and laserlight is some square honkin switch that is in middle setting. Gee hope it doesnt get bumped into lockout. Kinda dumb. Streamlight goes from right to left laserlight... light only... laser only. So simple intuitive and can be actuated with trigger finger. Not even so with the surefire two handed opperation required and you got 5 modes to fiddle with while youre getting shot at. So ive changed philosophies. Simple is better. This light will bring you joy. Call safariiland for holster options and youre set.

Great laser. everything they said it was. Update: I have had this laser for a few months now and it works great. At night can see the laser for probably a miles or more. It the bright afternoon sun I can see it at 100 yards if it is painted on a darker surface. If you are outside in the woods obviously it wont show up very well on plants and leaves. The laser is very easy to use with either your right hand or left. The light is VERY bright and the strobe is actuated very easy with a double tap on either side of the lever. I can shine the light on the white ceiling of my bedroom and it will light up the whole room. Very sturdy construction. There are plenty of Youtube videos that show how durable the construction is. I mounted my laser to my Springfield XDM 9mm. I can no longer fit the gun with laser attached in my holster but I can quickly take laser off when needed. I have realized that when I re-attached the laser it is no longer zeroed. I don't think this any fault of the laser though. My "picatiny" rails on the pistol are molded as part of the poly frame. Mounting the laser in the exact same spot that I zeroed it in on my gun at is difficult. Another positive aspect is when I take it to the range everyone want to see it. I feel like I have sold a bunch of these by "demoing" to strangers on the range. I should figure out how I can make some money doing it.

i'm not even sure where to start- this thing is a seizure waiting to happen. i don't even know if one would have to fire after bashing someone with this much light at short range. a local pd buddy of mine loaned me his 300 lumen tlr2s a while back. it was perfect for the glock nightstand pistol, and fit the ar well (in front of the front sight, on a two slot pic rail). i figured i wanted a hotter light for the rifle, so when streamlight came out with the hl models, i bought one. i had always imagined the 630 lumen light might be too much for indoors, but when i got it and started messing with it, all i could think was "six hundred lumens is twice as good as three hundred, right??!!" WRONG! after wandering around the house a few times, getting used to the controls, i waited until late night with no ambient light (other than the now ubiquitous led glow that comes from just about anything that has an edison plug on it these days), and picked up the g17, cranked on the light, and got traumatically blinded from behind the sights. even the dingy, not entirely white walls of my dusty residence splashed wayyyy too much of that 630 lumens back at my night adjusted retinas, and i had to blink off the initial burn. i had a lasting case of greenspot just to start with. not content with that degree of masochism, i decided to go through the motions of clearing the house, and when the light hit the chrome finish of the bicycle repair stand in the living room, i think i may have screamed. my eyes were fried. to be fair, anywhere i did not experience splash was fine, and really, the added brightness was only a liability in case of terrible reflection- but when it was bad, it was bad. i think that says more positive about the attributes of the light than negative, but it should also stand as a caveat when considering the high lumen models of this light for indoor use. the way i was looking at this purchase from the start was that i wanted this light for the rifle, and thought it might be good to test it on a pistol. if you do not have a default longer range/outdoor application for this thing, and you are on the fence about its brightness for your purpose, definitely find a way to check one out before you commit to it. the price difference between the 300 lumen job and the 630 lumen item is currently pretty modest, so for an additional few bucks, if the brighter light is what you want, you should definitely buy it. historically my eyesight has been better than 20/15 in either eye, so it's possible that my sockets are more sensitive to big light. i cannot emphasize enough, that outside of the blinding reflective issues, the high lumen output provided an amazing sense of "field of impact" (i know that sounds kind of silly), and simultaneously huge peripheral awareness. i mentioned it was blinding, right? i think i'd rather get tazed than smacked by this light at anything under ten yards, maybe more. every other light i have owned, i have been willing to blast myself with, just to understand it firsthand. not this one, at least not intentionally. oh yeah- the "seizure waiting to happen"... i haven't even started talking about the strobe, have i? eeesh...

Style: With Green Laser
Great fit on my HD pistol. Very bright white light and I prefer green lasers over red lasers because green stands out much better in the daylight and I have read research that the human eyes picks up on the green color laser much faster versus red. This light/laser combo is a quality piece of kit and I wish I had one on all my pistols, but with it costing as much as it does, that will take awhile. Keeping my right finger in the ready position close to the trigger, I am able to use my left thumb to manipulate the controls with ease and it does not compromise my grip on the pistol. Holding DOWN on the switch activates the momentary control, two quick presses with holding of DOWN activates the strobe feature. UP on the switch locks it into the on position. These functions are reversed if you were to use your right thumb. There is a small toggle switch below that allows you to select the light and/or laser. LEFT is laser only, CENTER is light only, RIGHT is light and laser. I leave the toggle set to the right for both light and laser at the same time when I use the control lever. I like the fact that it takes two CR123 batteries. They are common and used in many other pieces of my gear. I have seen pictures of other people using this on their rifles and I think it work well on a long gun, but for me it will only see use on pistols as I have different lights I prefer on rifles.

(TLR-2 HL red laser review) This is a great laser/light combo. I purchased it primarily for the 800 lumen light, but the laser is an added plus. I'm using it on a 1911 platform. Pros: Very easy installation EXTREMELY bright LED light Strobe function (push temporary wing down (or up depending on side) twice within half a second and hold) Laser holds zero surprisingly well Cons: Windage/elevation screws strip easily Windage/elevation screws get misthreaded when adjusting sometimes --Misthreading happened to me a number of times, but I was able to force the screw out and realign it The device is quite wide The TLR-2 is an expensive piece of kit, but it's worth the money. Quality build, stellar customer service, and ease of use make it a no-brainer for those looking for a light/laser combo. Don't waste your money on $600 laser/light combos -- get this one. I've heard the green light is even better than the red, but I've had no issues with the red at all. If you have the money to purchase the TLR-2, I would look no further. You will not be disappointed.

Style: With Green Laser
So far I only have about ... 300ish rounds through this. Things I like about it: - SUPER bright :) Guys in the club were all surprised at how bright the green laser is, and how visible it is even in the bright mid-day sun. At twilight it's extremely visible at distances well beyond what I'm capable of hitting. - The white light is likewise extremely bright and very tightly focused, with a very nice super bright white spot surrounded by a dimmer flood. In my bedroom with all the lights on it's *radically* brighter if I throw this at the ceiling. The reflector patern is so well done that honestly for indoor use in my tiny home (short distances) I can just use the center focal spot without even turning on the laser. Side by side with my Fenix PD35 - also 1k lumen, there's just no comparison in the actual candelas this applies at distance. Do I need to worry about blinding myself ? It's ok bro, I'm not stupid. I know where things like white walls and mirrors are in my house, and I know how to do things like not shine bright lights into them. Most importantly is that I can *really* see at night with this - corners that were left dark and mysterious with my other light are lit up like it's daylight. - Controls are dirt simple, which I like. Paddle up for momentary, paddle down for constant. Double-tap for strobe. Switch at the bottom switches between laser, white, and both. - Mounts extremely well and in my experience playing with it, it's very repeatable mount at defense distances; for target shooting you may need to check zero. - Battery life is pretty solid. Granted I played with it *constantly* testing and learning and went through a set of batteries - the amount of on-time it had in that initial period was easily more than it will see for the entire next year, so I'll just replace the batteries next Christmas. - Bit of added weight at the muzzle never hurts :) - Lens absolutely gets gassed up, but wipes clean to crystal clean again with a micofiber. - I find the old style switches to work very well for me; my support thumb is right there, and I can manipulate it very adroitly without losing any of my support grip. - Absolutely get a quicker picture than with steel sights. People who only use steel sights will say junk like "lasers aren't necessary", "red dots aren't any faster than steel", "those are for people who can't use steel". Lemme tell you son I learned how to shoot old school with nothing but open steel sights at 350 yard popups and I've raced with open sights and I sho know how to shoot with my open sights and ... these things are faster AND more agile because I can use one hand while working a phone, etc. A couple things to be aware of: - It's gonna be REALLY HARD TO FIND A HOLSTER. There's not a whole lot of light bearing holster makers out there, and very, very ,very few that support the TLR-2 profile. A call to Streamlight verified that it's the same profile as the lower-lumen TLR-2 models in that series, but also that the 2 series doesn't share profiles with anything else. If you can find a maker that supports the TLR2 it should definitely support the 2 HL. I didn't think about holster availability when I bought this, thinking 'it's streamlight, right ? this is why I'm paying for a big established brand cause who wouldn't support Streamlight" ? Well, news flash ... yes everyone who makes a light bearing holster supports Streamlight ... just not THIS Streamlight. Big bummers as I had to drop a TON for a custom holster that won't even get here for months. In hind sight, I wish I had gone with a different model but I really wanted a green light and 1k lumen; the TLR-10 is green but only in 500 lumen. There's also tons of support for Olights, but I'm trying to keep as much of this in my region as possible; even if it's only assembled here that's more of my revenue staying in the area than not. If you're just going to range run or nightstand this, jump on it. However, if you're going to compete or carry it, you're probably better off with another model unless you're just not picky about holsters and can easily find one you like. I'm extremely picky about holsters and honestly now have some remorse. - The contour switch is NOT compatible with this. Should really be clear about that on the Amazon listing; when I opened the switch it definitely fit the battery cap perfectly, but would only control the white light, not the laser. I guess the laser really needs all the energy and that bit of added circuitry is just enough added resistance to underpower it ? I guess ? The contour switch was dropped off at Whole Foods for a super easy fast return process :) - The laser will go out before the white light does. If you get a nice bright light but your laser is dim or flashing or gone, try new batteries. All in all I have to say that honestly I LOVE this light and laser combo, but I'm super bummed about the lack of holster availability.
