One of the feet of the chair snapped completely off while I was rolling it between my house and my car via my driveway. It came off on flat ground. How is it so cheap that happens?? The seller was specifically amazon.com directly, not a 3rd party. Edit: I was able to find a local office furniture store that's an official retailer of the steelcase leap and the chair I received from amazon seems to be a different chair. Amazon Chair: Thin seat cushion. You can feel the plastic hitting your butt through the seat cushion. Generally cheap feel like it is going to fall apart. Official Steelcase Retailer: Seat cushion seemed full and comfortable. None of the "feel the plastic though the seat cushion" feeling. Chair felt more solid and durable. Appearance-wise they seemed to be the same chair, and sitting in the chair it had the same general shape and feel for how you sat...but without the "cheap" feeling to it. I wonder if either amazon is getting duped and selling a knockoff version of the chair, or if they're accidentally mixing up inventory from the cheaper retailers who are selling knockoff versions. The chair I sat in in the store - despite seeming to be the same basic chair design - felt far higher quality like one would expect for a thousand dollar office chair. I hope amazon will look into this and fix this. ... show more

After 7 months the chair cylinder had dropped to 1/4" above the floor. Found that the cylinder had been shimmed with tape. Contacted the seller Madison, who said to return the entire chair to Brooklyn, NY, at my cost (from the west coast). The chair can't be repaired at a local Steelcase facility because Madison removes all Steelcase identifying marks, meaning you don't get a warranty from Steelcase -- on a supposedly new chair. ... show more

We use the Leap in our office so I purchased this knowing it fits me very well. The lumbar support is perfect at the maximum firmness setting, the sticky backrest lets me sit back and stay there at different angles while maintaining the same lumbar support, and the armrest is of an amazing foam material that presses in and always bounces back. The ability to constantly shift angles and positions is important when working for long periods of time. I've tried the Markus and Jarvfjallet previously, but wasn't happy with the lumbar support they provided. The manufacturer headrest is poorly reviewed, but there are third party headrests that fit well onto this chair if you really need it. There are some negative reviews which are likely due to third party purchases. Make sure the item is "Sold by Amazon". I can confirm that chairs "sold by Amazon" are brand new and acquired directly from Steelcase. The tag on my chair and label on the box indicated that the chair was shipped from Steelcase a month before it was delivered to my home. ... show more

    • With Covid-19, wife needed a chair for working remove

I personally use a Herman Miller chair for working from home, but my wife needed a chair due to COVID-19 and working remotely. Purchased this chair and it came 100% assembled. Removed the wheels and replaced them with rollerblades type (much-needed improvement for any office chair). The Steelcase chair is better than my Herman Miller that cost about $500.00 more. This was shipped from Amazon, not a 3rd party. Came quickly on the day expected. Heavy, large box because the chair comes completely assembled and brand new. I've ordered the same chair from a discount website that cost half as much, but their chair needed to be assembled, and the wheels were well worn - so obviously rehabbed - although the discount website said the chair was new. The discount site also took 2 weeks longer than Amazon to be delivered. In the end, it was worth it to me to pay the extra cost for great service, and a new, fully assembled chair. One star off due to lumbar... just wish it was a tad more extended. The lumbar has a slider - stiff to move the left/right grips up and down. Typical for most office chairs. Finally, I love that I can move the chair around by gripping the back 'handle'. That will help keep the cloth at the top of the chair looking nice in the long run.     • A work chair, not a sleeping chair...

When I first sat on this chair my thought was "not as comfortable/relaxing as the one it replaced". I quickly decided this was a good thing. I think this chair improves my poor posture, encourages me to sit up and not lean back, and keeps me a little more attentive. Not a cushy chair, a work/focus chair. If that's what you are looking for (I was). Only comment is the supplied wheels, which move too easily. My chair is on a plastic mat on a rug. The wheels that came with the chair move very easily and I find the chair accidentally moving around. In addition if it rolls off the mat onto the carpet it takes some effort (and probably me getting up) to move it back on. I replaced the factory wheels with the wheels I had purchased for my old chair, which are the x-large (not blade) wheels.
