  • Great ergonomic chair for hybrid work
Color: Grey
After a year of suffering in a cheap uncomfortable chair while working from home, I finally took the plunge and got a Steelcase leap. I’m not sure why I waited this long! I experienced an immediate improvement in my posture and lower back pain. I also just feel so much more comfortable working in this chair. It comes fully assembled, so all you need to do is unpack the box and start working. I love the fully adjustable arm rests, which allow me to get closer to the desk when I am on video calls. I’ve seen some people questioning the price and I have to say it is totally worth it for your back health and overall comfort while working from home. I purchased the gray Leap with platinum base. The color goes well with my gray desk and the platinum base lends a softer tone than the black base. If you’ve been thinking about upgrading your home office, this chair is worth the investment. ... show more

  • Great chair.
Color: Blue Jay Fabric
Literally sitting in this thing now. Have had it for about 3 years now. Great chair. I'm a computer aided drafter. You should have a stand up desk as well but if you sit a lot, this is a great chair. The only one better was the Herman Miller Embody. A little more pricey but that thing was sweet.

  • Comfortable, but had wobbly arms - I fixed it!
Color: Alpine
I really do like the Leap V2 office chair from Steelcase. I consider it one of the more comfortable office chairs I’ve ever used. I use this chair daily in my office and it allows me to spend long hours working into the night. My one big gripe with this chair is the wobbly arm posts that came with mine. I did manage to fix these arm posts, but I would have expected better for a chair that costs this much. Still, this is not a deal-breaker. I still would have purchased the Leap V2 simply because of its comfort and wide range of adjustability. Wobbley Arm Post My particular Leap V2 had an unsteady wobble to its arm posts. I am NOT talking about the armrests which can swivel laterally. I am referring to the ARM POSTS which support the armrests and elevate up or down. When locked into place the arm posts will not move vertically. However, they still move side-to-side making the whole armrest “wobble.” This makes them feel loose, and causing an annoying rattle whenever I place my forearms on the armrests. This doesn’t cause discomfort, but is more of an annoyance. It seems this is very common with this chair. I suppose I can get used to it as others have. But I really wanted to fix it. The Fix for the Arm Post Wobble I searched several user forums on information to fix the “wobble.” I found a few posts where poeple modded their arm post to fix the issue. The hardest part was to disassemble the arm post housing so that the arm posts could be removed, and then modified. To find out how to do this, go to Youtube and search for “Leap V2 armrest.” (Needless to say, you must be careful not to damage the chair - so do this at your own risk. For me, it was relatively easy - as I normally like to tinker with things.) Once you get an arm post separated from the housing, look carefully for the two plastic clips that are attached to each post. These white-colored clips form a “ring” of sorts around the lower parts of the arm posts. These clips provide the friction/resistance to the arm posts when they are moved up or down. Simply remove these plastic clips (which is quite easy) to reveal an indentation of where these clips would rest in. Then cut a piece of tape (I used painter’s tape) to fit and place inside each of the indentations. Apply 2-3 pieces of tape (2-3 layers) into these indentations. Then put the white plastic clips back into the indentations (which are now covered with the layers of tape.) The idea here is to make the clips stick out more than normal, which causes more friction, and thereby making the arm post fit tighter within the housing. Do this for both arm posts and re-install them into the housing. If done correctly, this should make the arm posts fit much tighter than before - wobble fixed! Final Thoughts I share my office with another person who has a Leap V2. That chair doesn't have this wobble issue with the arm posts. Perhaps its a small fraction of chairs that have this issue. But even if I couldn't fix it - I could see myself getting used to it eventually. I previously had an Aeron Chair for 17 years. And I would still pick this over the Aeron despite the issue. ... show more

  • Just get one.
Color: Blue Jay Fabric
Why did I wait so long to spend a giant chunk of money for a chair? It seemed ridiculous. I worked in one of these chairs in an office and loved it every single day, but when I saw the price I decided not to get one at home. After working at home I started to notice so much pain and spent lots of money buying cushions and other chairs etc. I was hurting so much I actually posted on Facebook to my friends and ask them what seat cushions or chairs they liked. A very smart friend asked why i was buying cushions instead of getting a better chair. Impart I wasn’t looking for a new chair because it was the pandemic and I didn’t want to go outside to a lot of stores and try on new chairs. She then asked if there was a chair in my history that I knew I could trust. Leap chair was right there in my mind!!! I did it. Spent a grand on a chair. Bought a vibrant bright blue one with platinum base. My arm rests move with me. Everything adjusts. Just everything. The lower back support is wonderful and the actual seat moves back and forth. Cushion is just right and literally removed my pain. I’m 5’8” and large sized but I’d say someone much larger would have plenty of room too. Since arm rests also can move closer to the body, I’m guess smaller people would love it too. Everyone in the office where I worked with them was happy with it. Gushing about this, but... life changer. It’s my work car/vehicle. I also bought a bamboo floor mat on Amazon. Sweet. ... show more

  • Excellent chair!
Color: Black
I've been using this exact model chair since 2012 at my work office. I've always wanted one for my home office, well I finally got one. This chair at home blows my mind replacing the one I had before. My back felt the difference immediately. I have used a cheap ~$250 office depot chair since Covid-19 hit, March of 2020. The Steelcase chair has not needed any maintenance or anything at all since 2012, however, I will add, after about 10 years the chair slowly drops and needs re-adjusting in height - I would say it needs adjusting after about 2 hours of sitting, I sit on a lot of conference calls at work throughout the week. Overall this chair will give you at least 10 years of out-of-the-box performance without a doubt, well worth the money. ... show more

  • Backrest padding is non-existent
Color: Blue
The backrest always feels like sitting against hard plastic, and I'm 5'11, 155 LB's. chair is mostly plastic armrests are not very comfy the seat is a rounded arch, and no it's not comfy either, its hard. Backrest adjustments make minimal changes Softest lumbar setting still pushes into lower back lumbar support has this physical plastic bar you move in the backrest on both sides, which means it could get stuck at an angle, it would be better without it. Chair moved upper back pain to lower back, due to sitting against hard plastic, after a few hours my lower back tightens up and then I have to lay on the floor no support for upper back The only likeable aspect to this chair is that the seat moves forward when you lean back.... but for $1000+, I should love this chair, not hate it. ... show more

  • Comfortable chair, but it smells!
Color: Alpine
Overall, the chair is very comfortable. This chair is replacing a Herman Miller Aeron classic chair and the Leap V2 is almost as comfortable as the Aeron. I also tried the Gesture chair but I felt like that chair was forcing me to readjust my posture while sitting. The recline option is great; the back reclines without the seat moving. The limited arm pad adjustment (compared to Gesture) was not an issue for me. The seat wobbles but that is expected (as explained by BTOD.com). The reason why this doesn't get a higher rating is because the chair smells on and after delivery. I bought this chair "Used - Like New" ship and sold from Amazon. The chair arrived in great condition (as advertised) but it had a strong chemical smell like some reviewers mentioned. The smell is similar to a hairspray product. It's a pretty strong smell and was still present even after letting the chair sit in the garage for 7 days. I tried a few different methods (as mentioned on Steelcase's website) to clean the chair and hopefully remove the smell but to no avail. I eventually gave up and started to just use the chair and hope that the smell would go away. 22 days after it was delivered, the smell is still there but not as strong as before. ... show more

  • My favorite office chair. Pricier but 100% worth it to me.
Color: Black
I had one of these chairs in the office for 6 years and loved it. It's now been just shy of 3 years since I purchased this for my home office. Zero issues with it. I've been working from home since Covid and wanted/need a high end chair. I was making do with a cheapy gaming rocker style chair that was marketed as "ergonicic" with a back pillow and was miserable. The Steelcase Leap is a true ergonomic chair and it's definitely worth the money with the hours per day I'm sitting in it. I'm also a PC gamer. This is the most used chair in the house by wide margin. ... show more
