This product has a nice clean "soapy" smell and it is pleasant. Please don't be led into thinking that it smells like clean, fresh skin bathed with unscented soap as claimed. Instead, this is the smell of an old-fashioned, perfumed soap like Camy or Lux, which even the newer generations can associate with the fresh smell of clean, but not the beautiful natural clean that the product claims. These soap fragrances can be purchased far less expensively in essential oil form. But, some people just want to spend $40 I guess. This is just a personal preference, but if it smelled like Ivory soap they would have hit the jack pot. ... show more

Not only does this not smell like books or paper it smells like an old alcoholic woman. It's not worth the money and not good to use. I looked into it because I wanted to find a nice slight scent for work, nothing strong but something that will last. This is not it. Was too strong and did not smell good in the slightest. I think, going in, I was expecting kitten fur, and having had cats my entire adult life, I was put off by the smell being anything BUT kitten fur, which to me, smells mildly of sweet popcorn. This fragrance does not smell like that. However, when I put it away for a few days, then stopped expecting kitten fur, suddenly, I fell in love with it. It has a unisex, husky, musky quality that is delicious. However, smell is so subjective, I can't say it's for everyone. Not at all. TO best describe it, it, it smells like a sweet, mild, non-alcoholic whiskey, if that makes sense. But not too sweet. This is, so far, one of my favorite scents to wear and I wear it all the time now. I originally used it in my car as a car freshener, but now, it's got dual purposes: y car, and my body.
