Excellent task chair for sitting/working for an entire business day plus into some evening hours. Buyers should be aware that while this chair his upholstered, its designed to provide FIRM support more akin to taught mesh than memory foam. The good: * The chair arrives fully assembled. Amazon will deliver inside your front door or will take directly to a specified room for a small charge. * The chair has a wide and usable range of adjustments that make it easy to find a comfortable working position. The control layout makes it easy to make adjustments during the day as you desire- definitely not a "set and forget" chair unless that's what you want. * The arm rests can be moved positioned over a huge range of motion. The height and adjustment on the arms supports a comfortable "cradle position" so that you can do things like comfortably hold a baby or pet in one arm and type with the other. * The seat pan is adjustable over a wide range and provides good thigh support for longer legs. * The back height provides support and is comfortable for people 6'+ * The construction materials are high quality and look like they will last for years. The not so good: * While the chair is rated to 400 pounds, the seat pan is only 19" across. If you have more than about a 40" waist, you may find the seat cushion simply too small to comfortably accommodate your body. Steelcase really needs to offer a "size C" for this chair ala the Aeron. * The carpet casters are simply too small for the chair. The casters allow the bottom of the cylinder to drag across the surface of even a low pile carpet. Using a chair mat is pretty much a requirement with this chair. * The chair is *heavy* and can be cumbersome to move up and down stairs or over objects. * There is no option to retrofit a headrest to the model that comes without one. ... show more

I had a different office chair for many years. It works great, except I forgot to get a padded back for it (I wanted vented for better heat management). Any way, I have a choice of two chairs as needs demand. This Steelseries Gesture office chair offers some nice features such as shifting to support your back easily. The arms also move somewhat freely (although it is a bit awkward). The back support is the strongest aspect of this chair. The included wheels are a poor choice for the chair. They are small. It worked ok for several months, but as the seat post settled into the bottom, the spring clip on the cylinder scraps the floor and bent a tab out. Be wary of this, as it can mark up your floor. Fortunately for me, I was using it on short carpet. Also fortunate was that I had a box of Office Chair Wheels Black Replacement Rubber Chair casters for Hardwood Floors and Carpet, Set of 5, Heavy Duty Office Chair casters for Chairs to Replace Chair mats - Universal fit. These were suggested when I purchased the chair. I never got around to swapping them in, until today. These are the type of quality wheels that *should* have come with the chair. The wheels work on all floor types and are larger. The cylinder and clip are now clear of the floor. I expected more from a chair that costs this much. This is why the rating is set the way it is. I am also looking into solutions for my other chair. The seat padding on the Steelseries is not enough, unlike my other chair which has great seat padding. I am going to look for a padding that can be applied to the other chair. In summary, good to have choices. You never know what your body wants any given day. Stu's seal of approval! I finally did what most of you are probably thinking of doing right now. Spending a ton of money on what seems to be a good choice. Well, I am a few months in, and the back issues I suffered while working 8+ hours a day and spending personal time on the pc as well(working from home), seemingly went away. I'm not a doctor, but the cheaper $200 chair I was using was definitely making it worse. The functionality of being able to adjust your seat's depth is such a helpful tool. I sit funny, a lot. Most chairs end up broken and this one is loving every minute of all the 'gestures' I'm throwing at it. I'm a 6'0 280 guy who is enjoying every dollar spent on this chair. ... show more

Did a lot of research and reading of reviews (including here on Amazon) before buying. I took a leap of faith and am very pleased that I did. I bought this chair to upgrade an inexpensive mesh chair purchased from an office supply store. That chair was good, however the mesh started to sag and the chair ended up giving me back and hip pain after long periods of sitting. I settled on the Gesture after reading reviews and finding a decent price on Amazon. I find that the chair works just as I'd read. It arrived well packaged without any dents, markings, or missing pieces. Its a supportive chair, especially in the back area. The seat is fine, definitely more firm than I'm used to. Its not plush at all but more of a supportive feel. It took a little bit of time to set up everything to my liking but now that I've got things dialed in, I can sit in this chair for an entire workday without back and hip pain. If I had to come up with a complaint, the arms, while very adjustable, are not my favorite. They have a bit of a convex shape to them so my arms tend to slide off when I lean on them. Otherwise, great chair and I would recommend purchasing if you're considering it. ... show more
