This is *not* a good chair. I have had this chair for a year and have sat in it every day - there are much better options available from Steelcase. First, the chair has a relatively flat back -- very limited lower back support. You will be constantly scooting to the back of the chair to try to get support for your lower back! Secondly, the amount of “tension” provided as you lean back on the chair is very low even at the highest setting. It feels loose. This chair is also very cheap and very squeaky! Steelcase sent me a replacement Reply chair and it still squeaked. This chair sucks!! Solution: Go with the Steelcase Think or the Steelcase Leap any day over this $600 excuse for a quality office chair. ... show more

The Steelcase Reply that I purchased is definitely a high-quality chair. It is substantial, well-made, and even the wheels are superior. It arrived fully assembled with no damage whatsoever. But for me the problems are several. First is the seat comfort - the cloth seat is sturdy and supportive, but almost flat and without much padding. I am a slim person, without much seat padding myself, and I find that long-term sitting is not at all comfortable. Also, the seat feels pitched slightly forward and I have to fully plant my feet at all times. Finally, the adjustable seat (forward/back), always slides forward (loudly) from the rearmost position when I lean back, requiring readjustment if you prefer it back. I solved most of the problems with an inexpensive memory foam seat pad, but why do I need to do this with a $500+ chair? I will keep the chair with the seat pad because I do like the overall quality for the price, but it is not a perfect chair for me. ... show more

I have had several Steelcase chairs during my working career. All of them very comfortable. Finally time to buy one for the home office. Unfortunately, when the chair arrived, it was missing the lumbar support. Trying to deal with Steelcase for a remedy is proving to be frustrating. This is a case for buying at a dealer rather than through Amazon. At least a dealer could help get the replacement part. ... show more
