Description

The Staub cocotte is unsurpassed for slow-cooking meats and vegetables to tender perfection, and for simmering hearty stews and soups. Cast iron possesses exceptional heat-retaining qualities, so the pot heats evenly throughout. The innovative lid features tiny spikes on the interior that continually release condensed liquid back onto the food, yielding moist, flavorful results. Staub. With their exquisite enamel finish, each piece transitions beautifully from the kitchen to the table. From comfort food to sumptuous suppers, every dish is special when served in Staub. Staub enameled cast iron cookware is the choice of the world's best chefs. With exceptional durability, it is perfect for day-to-day use in both gourmet home kitchens and prestigious restaurants around the world. Built to last a lifetime, these heirloom pieces can be passed from generation to generation. "Cocotte" in French means "casserole," but there are a multitude of dishes that emerge delectably from Staub's signature French oven. This attractive 4-quart cocotte, available in an array of rich colors, is an ideal choice for slow- cooked stews and soups, casseroles, and roasted meats, as well as many other one-pot meals. Measuring 9-3/8 inches in diameter, the cocotte is constructed of durable cast iron with a black matte enameled interior and an enameled ceramic finish that extends to the pot and lid edges to prevent chipping and rusting. And with its decorative design, it serves as beautifully as it cooks. Designed for oven or stovetop use, the cocotte features a smooth, heavy earthenware base that will never warp and can handle any cooking surface, including glass, induction, and convection. Like the pot itself, the handles and lid are cast iron for durability and even heat distribution and retention (handles and brass or stainless steel lid knobs do get hot, so use caution). The lid features innovative self-basting spikes to continually redistribute juices back to the ingredients as they cook. The black-matte enameled interior doesn't need seasoning and, as cooking oils seep into the pores over time, will become a self-seasoned, non-stick surface. Oven-safe to 500 degrees F, Staub's French oven doesn't need high heat and so should be used on low to medium settings. For best care, use with silicone or wooden utensils and wash by hand with non-abrasive cleaners. Made in France. From the Manufacturer Why Cast Iron? Why Staub Enameled Cast Iron? • Perfect cooker
Size: 4-qt Color: Cherry
Very heavy. I almost sent it back. However, when I made vegetable stew in it, it cooked so evenly, didn't run dry and burn and I kept it. Also, cleaning by hand was a breeze. It is a stellar cooking item to add to your kitchen if you can get used to the weight. I'm elderly and have arthritis and bad back, so if you're careful and mindful, this is a jewel. ... show more

  • Best Dutch Oven
Size: 4-qt Color: Turquoise
This is the best 4qt dutch oven. It resists chipping and scratching like crazy. It has been through some rough moments with little accidents with no harm done. I have other enameled cast iron cookware but I have to be extremely careful with when using them as they will chip easily with a good bang. Staub enameled cookware is a strudy and hardy product that can be used everyday and still look brand new. It is heavy but that is pretty standard with all cast iron products. I find that cleaning it is very easy with a soak and soft sponge. I use it for cooking and bread baking. It is a pretty color and it works very well. It is a pricey pot but worth every penny. If you time it well you can buy one deeply discounted. I could have paid 125$ more for the pot at it's regular price at Crate and Barrel or William Sonoma. I am thrilled with the pot and price point sale at Amazon. You can't go wrong with a Staub Dutch Oven. I am so happy with it my 4 qt that I am looking at finding a Turquoise Staub tall 5qt dutch oven as well. The search goes on. ... show more

  • When Only the Brest Will Do
Size: 7-qt Color: Cherry
Staub, with a cast iron interior finish, is simply the best of the best. Why? First, the interior is raw cast iron and not enamel. I had Le Creuset pots for years. The enamel chips. Scratches show up. If you overcook something in the pot, the enamel never comes back. None of them made the distance. But Staub has the right formula of enamel on the outside, cast iron on the inside. Second, the lid is heavy and fits beautifully. I use an oya for black beans which is a clay pot that makes creamy beans. The only pot that can reproduce that creaminess is the Staub because of its tight fitting top. Great for braising meats on the stove or oven. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • It’s so CUTE
Size: 4-qt Color: White Truffle
Love the color. It’s small enough to make stuff for 3 people. It’s made well, the weight is great, and it’s versatile. You can make so many things in it and is a great space saver. It’s not too big.

  • Love This Dutch Oven
Size: 4-qt Color: Turquoise
I needed a smaller Dutch oven that would fit in my new Breville oven, so I bought this four quart pan. I absolutely love this piece! I bought the Dutch oven in turquoise and was really surprised at how beautiful it is. This is my second cast iron pan from Staub and it won’t be my last. I have cooked some awesome dishes in this! The black non-stick surface works well to quickly brown food, creating flavor that can only be achieved with a fine pan. I plan to take good care of my Dutch oven by using silicone or wooden utensils only. There are plastic spacers that come with the pan that keep the top from moving around and chipping the surface. Even though you can technically put the pan in the dishwasher, I wash the pan by hand, to prevent rust, even though it probably would never rust because of the enamel coating. Clean up is easy because of the non-stick enamel surface. Staub is a great company that puts out a durable product and I truly believe that this Dutch oven will last a lifetime. ... show more

  • The enamel chipped
Size: 4-qt Color: Cherry
This little thing is beautiful and performing good , especially with stews. However, after less than 30 uses, the enamel is chipped. I expect that they will last longer than my life since it is such an expensive and luxurious cookware brand which is reputed for its quality. Very disappointed. And the customer service agent said I have to pay for the shipment for the chipped pan to return for inspection. Yes, you’re right, for inspection. We live in west coast and the return location is in east coast. I’m gonna spend half or more of the price to ship it back for inspection. ... show more
