Description

The Staub cocotte is unsurpassed for slow-cooking meats and vegetables to tender perfection, and for simmering hearty stews and soups. Cast iron possesses exceptional heat-retaining qualities, so the pot heats evenly throughout. The innovative lid features tiny spikes on the interior that continually release condensed liquid back onto the food, yielding moist, flavorful results. Staub. With their exquisite enamel finish, each piece transitions beautifully from the kitchen to the table. From comfort food to sumptuous suppers, every dish is special when served in Staub. Staub enameled cast iron cookware is the choice of the world's best chefs. With exceptional durability, it is perfect for day-to-day use in both gourmet home kitchens and prestigious restaurants around the world. Built to last a lifetime, these heirloom pieces can be passed from generation to generation. "Cocotte" in French means "casserole," but there are a multitude of dishes that emerge delectably from Staub's signature French oven. This attractive 4-quart cocotte, available in an array of rich colors, is an ideal choice for slow- cooked stews and soups, casseroles, and roasted meats, as well as many other one-pot meals. Measuring 9-3/8 inches in diameter, the cocotte is constructed of durable cast iron with a black matte enameled interior and an enameled ceramic finish that extends to the pot and lid edges to prevent chipping and rusting. And with its decorative design, it serves as beautifully as it cooks. Designed for oven or stovetop use, the cocotte features a smooth, heavy earthenware base that will never warp and can handle any cooking surface, including glass, induction, and convection. Like the pot itself, the handles and lid are cast iron for durability and even heat distribution and retention (handles and brass or stainless steel lid knobs do get hot, so use caution). The lid features innovative self-basting spikes to continually redistribute juices back to the ingredients as they cook. The black-matte enameled interior doesn't need seasoning and, as cooking oils seep into the pores over time, will become a self-seasoned, non-stick surface. Oven-safe to 500 degrees F, Staub's French oven doesn't need high heat and so should be used on low to medium settings. For best care, use with silicone or wooden utensils and wash by hand with non-abrasive cleaners. Made in France. From the Manufacturer Why Cast Iron? Why Staub Enameled Cast Iron? Because of its outstanding performance Staub is used and praised by the most celebrated chefs around the world.

  • Best Dutch Oven
Size: 4-qt Round Color: Turquoise
This is the best 4qt dutch oven. It resists chipping and scratching like crazy. It has been through some rough moments with little accidents with no harm done. I have other enameled cast iron cookware but I have to be extremely careful with when using them as they will chip easily with a good bang. Staub enameled cookware is a strudy and hardy product that can be used everyday and still look brand new. It is heavy but that is pretty standard with all cast iron products. I find that cleaning it is very easy with a soak and soft sponge. I use it for cooking and bread baking. It is a pretty color and it works very well. It is a pricey pot but worth every penny. If you time it well you can buy one deeply discounted. I could have paid 125$ more for the pot at it's regular price at Crate and Barrel or William Sonoma. I am thrilled with the pot and price point sale at Amazon. You can't go wrong with a Staub Dutch Oven. I am so happy with it my 4 qt that I am looking at finding a Turquoise Staub tall 5qt dutch oven as well. The search goes on. ... show more

  • Quality product that will be used forever.
Size: 4-qt Round Color: Graphite Grey
Worth the investment. Soups, stews, bread baking, casseroles, also keeps salads cold on the table longer. Serves food looking classy. Looks pretty in my daughter's kitchen when not in use

  • Love my Staub
Size: 4-qt Round Color: White Truffle
My first Staub and wish I had splurged before now. It is a very fine product. It heats consistently over the bottom and I never worry about burning or scorching my food. Very easy to clean and since it's a black interior it obviously doesn't stain. I thought the 4 qt size would be too small but it really functions well for what I like to cook in this type of pot. I haven't had it long enough to attest to any chip resistance, but it certainly seems to be of extreme sturdiness. I like the White Truffle color, for a good neutral. ... show more

  • If you cook - you NEED a STAUB!!! I'm in love with a cooking pot! It's the best!
Size: 4-qt Round Color: Turquoise
This pot is fantastic and it's BEAUTIFUL! I am in love. I've cooked in enameled pans forever but that other brand doesn't even compare. I wish I had found this brand decades ago! I'm selling all my other (expensive) pots and using only this brand from now on. No More Sticking. No more having to deglaze the pan after cooking proteins. No need to hover over the stove to prevent scorching. This pot keeps things cooking just right and everything comes out perfectly. Simply keep the heat a little lower than you normally do, but don't worry, your food will cook in the same amount of time. It arrived perfect even with the rough handling from shippers with no chipping, no breaking. It's heavier than stainless pots but that's normal for cast iron cookware. It's just SO much easier to cook with compared to plain cast iron or stainless. Easy to cook in, easy to care for. It's so pretty, it's going to sit out on top of the stove as ART in my kitchen! 100% recommended! ... show more

  • Very Well Made
Size: 7-qt Round Color: Cherry
I was looking at this for months because it is costly. I decided to get it. Now I understand why it costs so much. It is like nothing I have ever used before. The black interior is not smooth . I got it in the red. It looks like a car exterior finish. I made beef stew in it. Started it on the stove and put it in the oven. I like that you can go from stovetop to the oven. If you on the fence, just get it. ... show more

  • Great Dutch oven you won't go wrong
Size: 7-qt Round Color: Cherry
I absolutely love this Dutch oven. Large size, works great. Love the dark coating, compared to a white one (does not show stains. Holds the moisture in well when using. I have used it as both a slow cooker (mine broke) and Dutch oven and works great. Coojs evenly every time. I do season it every 4 to 5 uses just to keep it fresh.Would highly recommend. We'll made and we'll worth the price. Take care of it and it will last a lifetime! ... show more

  • I like this cocotte...
Size: 4-qt Round Color: Cherry
... for myself. It is just the right size for a small roast or casserole, doesn't take up a lot of counter space and is surprisingly heavy for its appearance. It cooks evenly, holds temperature thru just about any length of meal, assuming it is moved from range to table, and could easily be mistaken for a centerpiece. Now... it is more delicate than one would think a cast iron pot would be. The surface inside is difficult to clean and not dishwasher safe, or at least not recommended. Has to be cleaned by hand and without any abrasives. They'll remove the interior coating which is rough and therefore not easy to clean. The interior coating is also black, meaning it is very difficult to gauge braising or opacity without a light directly overhead. The handles are cast iron and the lid knob is metal. Do not grab either when in service without a pot holder of some kind. If you do, it will be a memorable experience. I have not seen where this $400 pot cooks any better than any of my other cast iron, they are generally easier to clean and the other casseroles have a light colored interior making it much easier to see what is going on in there. While this may be left to someone in a last will and testament, I doubt it would be much more appreciated than any well maintained cast iron vessels, unless the recipient was a cast iron snob or a demanding gourmet chef that truly appreciated its capability and good looks despite its feature shortcomings. I have found after a number of months mine sets in an honored space along with some other shockingly priced cookware while lesser names easier to clean and handle provide the day to day cookery. ... show more
