  • Great pan
I've had several other cast iron skillet prior and they were good if taken care of but they had to be taken care of very frequently, if not after every use. As for this cast iron skillet, since receiving it I haven't felt the need to do another seasoning, i usually just normal wash with light soap and that's it. Sometimes I just use a little coconut oil and heat it up to essentially get food off and just wipe it down. It's a great skillet and if you're thinking the price is a little steep, it pays itself over time as you will not need anything else. I use this skillet for everything, even frying. ... show more

  • Good right out of the box.
I bought the 10.5 and the 12 at the same time. Since I've had them I've cooked (this includes both skillets) eggs (first cook, no sticking), buttermilk biscuits, ribeye steaks, bacon, bacon gravy and homemade corned beef hash. It has performed like you'd expect good cast iron to perform. The cleanup has been pretty easy. The interior surface of the pan has a definite splotchy look, but it's performing as a decently seasoned cast iron skillet should. I really like these skillets and I'm glad I bought them. I'm leaving the same review on the 12 inch skillet. ... show more

  • Is super nice but this item has flaws.
I definitely like this brand and the quality. Pretty bummed the one I was provided has flaws. I do want to keep it forever so for the price I expect zero flaws.

  • Love this Cast Iron
You can make scrambled eggs and not have them stick to the pan. Cant do that in my other cast iron no matter how seasoned it is

  • Great cast iron offering
Cast iron and I have a love-hate relationship. I have a collection, I love the enameled ones, the non-enameled ones... well, not so much. And while people keep talking about how cast iron is naturally non-stick, well, this has not been my experience with my so-far cheaper options. Probably I am doing something horribly wrong, but, to be honest, between them being a pain and way too heavy... I keep them for searing steak. I decided to try this one out because of the polished cooking surface, which is supposed to help with the non-stickiness. And I was very pleasantly surprised. While I wouldn't call them good out of the box, I did need to season them again, they are reasonably non-stick, even with eggs. So, the polished surface does make a difference. They clean quite easily, a paper towel does the trick, and well, cast iron chain mail can help with tougher messes I suppose... but I didn't have to do that yet. I am expecting the pan to become better as the seasoning becomes better (cooking bacon for that...) Aside from the polished surface, this pan comes with the bonus that it is way lighter than my other cast iron cookware, which, to be honest, for a frying pan is a big bonus in my case; and the handle stays surprisingly non-hot (I couldn't say it cool, but I don't think I'd risk a burn under normal circumstances - another huge plus). Now, it is not cheap, but for someone familiar with how much anything but the cheapest cast iron options cost, it's not expensive either. I'd say that the current $125 price tag is not necessarily overly expensive compared to the rest of my cookware (some from well-known US and European brands as a comparison), and for something that I am expecting to last forever. ... show more

  • AWESOME Skillet!!
I've had a cheaper regular cast iron skillet I've used extensively the past 10 or so years. I'm used to it. I had the opportunity to use this Stargazer and first had to see why it was so expensive as I have extremely little knowledge on cast iron skillets other than the one I have. I read up on it and thought okay, let's give 'er a try! Out of the box it's beautiful! It's the same size as my other skillet and is noticeably lighter. I just like the way it cooks overall in comparison to my $35 skillet. Food sticks less on the new one than it does on my well seasoned cheap skillet. It's also much easier to clean regardless if it's bacon and eggs or steak. I'm a fan!! I'm at the point now where I'm going to pull the trigger on Stargazer's 12" skillet!! ... show more

  • Excellent quality and is beautiful
This cast iron skillet is one of the best skillets we have used. It comes already seasoned so we didn't have to do that before cooking. We thoroughly washed it though. It worked perfectly the first time and didn't discolor at all. We have used iron skillets for many years and we are impressed with this one. The food cooks evenly and it doesn't stick. We have used it constantly for about two months and it still looks beautiful. I'm used to handling skillets with oven mitts, but this is different. The handle didn't get as hot. The inside of the skillet is still looking new even though it has been used a lot. The bottom has turned a little dark, but it still looks good. We love to cook over the barbecue grill and this works as well as any cast iron skillet we've had. It seems to be slightly heavy to me, so I don't think it is as light as I was hoping, but that just means quality I guess. It's easy to clean and store for next time. ... show more

  • Stargazer skillet
Do some research about this company and how they go about manufacturing this skillet and you will be impressed. Once upon a time all antique cast iron skillets came with the cooking surface polished. Definitely a labor intensive process that added to the expense. Modern skillet manufacturers wanting to make an affordable skillet started skipping the polishing step. The sand cast roughness on the bottom of the skillet makes food stick unless you build up the seasoning layer. So my point is this, if you want a quality non stick cast iron skillet that doesn't put man made chemicals in your body, you will have to pay for it. The included picture is my first experience with the non stick ability of the skillet, I cooked 2 eggs. Came out perfect. Read how to cook with these, different than what you are used to. Preheating is essential. I used a digital thermometer to heat the skillet to 275°, the online recommendation for eggs. Seemed too hot to me, I will try lower next time. Eggs turned out great, cleanup with a paper towel is a snap. Handle stayed cool to the touch. Get one, you won't regret it. ... show more
