  • Ahhhhhh! finally a decent chair for my back!
Probably the easiest thing I have ever put together and I have built lots of mail-order furniture in 70 years. The instructions were simple and straightforward and all the small parts were well packaged and clearly labeled and all hooked together in the order of their use. Big enough packaging to make them hard to lose, too. The most difficult part was putting the (pretty heavy) seat and back onto the center post. It's awkward for one person alone but would be a cinch for someone with help. I knew it was a good choice as soon as I sat in it for the first time, even before I adjusted it! Now that it is adjusted to my liking I am even more pleased. The seat is a bit hard but still comfortable and tilts to a choice of settings. The lumbar support in the back is perfect for me and the back tilt and arm adjustments are just right. The height adjustment will allow for resting my legs in different positions to help circulation. It rolls easily on the lightweight pad I use underneath and is not nearly as ungainly as the last chair. A tiny flaw is the arms which are not entirely stable and wiggle a bit, but this is an OK trade-off for the fact that they are adjustable, IMO. I am delighted with this chair and if it holds up to my hard use I will be even happier. (The last chair I bought at Staples before they closed their store here, was shabby and fell apart way too soon.) Recommending this chair very highly after very preliminary use. Easily worth the money if you have been struggling to find a good computer chair. ... show more

  • Great supportive desk chair
I was replacing my older version of this chair, which held up well over course of years. Has number of ways to adjust for comfort, and like the lumbar support. Highly recommend. Easier to order through Amazon than go through Staples.

  • Nice chair
This is the 2nd chair like this I have owned. It's comfortable. I like bring able to adjust everything. Only bad thing is the arms are the last thing you install, sowhen I got it all together I noted one of the arm buttons was broken. The seller told me I could return it (wasn't going to take it all apart) or they'd give me 20% back. I also tried calling the 800 help line in the paperwork, but nobody ever called me back. ... show more

  • Amazingly nice for 2 months
This chair is awesome for 2 months then the strut will leak and Staples of all companies will not work with you to fix it. I guess I should have spent the extra $100 and got the 3 year warranty. But that put the chair out of budget. I needed a chair after mandatory work from home, my company does not allow us to take our ego chairs and keyboards home, so we needed something. We figured buying from staples would equal a quality product. NOT. Buy a cheaper chair and buy the Warranty. ... show more

  • This chair is V2 revised from the 1st which gave me at least 4 years of comfortable sitting levels
This chair is by far the best, regarding what it can do -not a 1000 dollar comfortable chair could do for you (except built in massager in those eeh) I have bought this chair first in around 2010 at local store and threw it out 2015 for reasons unknown apart from having arm rests sides torn due to tight space and constant pressure pushing and scratching against the desks sharp edges. -To be exact what made me want EXACTLY this chair back is the possibility of not only leveling higher lower which all the chairs do. But also, you can position your back rest angle. {BTW this chairs backrest is revised since my old one didnt have the (not sure what to call it so i just say kidney pillow positioned on the lower back which most mesh backrest chairs do come with nowadays, OLD one did NOT have this feature - back to that later)} Some other chairs do offer you backrest positioning but I did notice their price is somewhat super ridiculous and dumb! Lastly and most importantly, this chair not only lets you set these two or rather one feature since height is a standard with all of the office chairs. The chair also lets you set the sit tilt. Not sure I would say from -15 degrees (tilting you forward, good for legs here and there) to about 30 degrees backwards. Now I could not find one chair with these 3 settings all together. I could not find one chair that let you set the actual sitting piece angle whatsoever. This chair has it all, and for fairly low price if not INCREDIBLY low price on amazon! This should not let staples raise the price however, because there is a competitor that I found here and it does indeed look like it might support back way more comfortable. Back to the backrest. With the old chair, the only flaw that I really had with it and I would blame the pre-manufacturing engineering error was the actual mesh on the backrest frame. It started to peel off at one point. First it was only a small hole right by the top right corner, then it became larger, however it did take a good year to get about 1 and a half inch long cut like peel off by the frame. Mesh material was sturdy though, there was no way you could say that its tearing or anything, only it just wasn't clamped together too good thus made the whole backrest so lose I felt the frame support if I pushed back too much, and If i wanted to fix it, i never tried for I was sure I wouldnt be able to since it was all made so snug. I assume that now they put the lower back push "kidney pillow" it probably isnt there for your comfort which i dont find comfortable compared to the older chair, but its there to prevent this peeling from around the frame, and I see all the mesh chair has this nowadays. Its kinda pushy like the air lower back pillows in loaded car driver seats. I dont prefer that feeling but will have to adapt to it since I threw the old chair out. Should I keep it or at least the actual bottol part and buy a separate top, drill the holes and mout new chair on. Its what Im gonna do with this if it gets to start breaking again after about 4 years which again, wasnt anything mandatory for me to throw away. I still dont understand why i did. Legs, If i remember right, the legs were made of metal, gray powder coated legs, same shape with the V2 only theyre made of plastic now. Its better regarding the weight. But plastic legs? Ummm, I will see if it has any different quality after years of use, though it seems okay. Backrest goes from probably about 100 degrees up to 130 and that + seat level to the back by 15, almost laying in recliner. Very good for a chair at this unbeatable price. Its a win win for you no matter how sceptical you look at it. Im glad I ever gave this chair a try by buying it for 300 back then. Local store has it for 2, but amazon?! AMAZING! For years of the most comfortable sitting its a must, for me at least. Seat, backrest mesh and armrests materials seems to be still the same way so staples obviously only made the changes to improve this fantastic product. and not make it worse. And Im happy for that. I might end up buying one more. UPDATE: Originally Reviewed in January 12, 2016 - It's Dec. 2022 now so, you could say 7 YEARS LATER? Chair still holds up, only needs new seat cushioning, that foam part. Both seat upholstery & Mesh on the back is good! Not faded, no tears or peeling at all. Amazing! Though im sure cushion is worn out due to me being on a heavier side. Tilting mechanism on the seat part is loosened up - if you sit at the front edge itll tilt forward the more weight or pressure you put on it. But if you like it tilted all the way backwards and Sit, not freedrop your bottoms, the proper way it wont change angle and it doesnt wiggle loosely as if it's dedicated lock-lever was in unlocked position so this little inconvenience get more than a pass after all the weight abuse in years. Lifting mechanism is done hovewer, I cant seem to get the height of the chair back up, as if it's stuck at all the way down position, most likely it is since I tried to manually Pull the seat upwards with 100lbs if not 200lbs of force upward and it wouldnt budge while pulling the height adjust lever upward with it. While I keep this chair, I also bought the 3rd one and it feels like Im landing on a feathery cloud every time. Old one felt okay but after a while it was painful, not anymore. Regarding quality, it feels the same, w/o a single change. Maybe the cushioning is improved as well. We'll see in another 6 to 7 years. But for all these years for a comfy sitting, I strongly recommend this chair out of all the options out there. There are few, only a bit cheaper but reading the reviews on those, the horrid pictures and experiences? Get this one, even if its pricier. Am still mad for throwing away the very first chair with metal legs. The positioning mechanism under the seat is what makes this chair so uniquely versatile that I will not settle for less, ever. Neither would you! Trust me, you'd grow with it. Just that little backrest plate, that part should get a redesign or at least an option to take out. (now that I'm thinking about it, maybe I'll use powertool to sort that issue out since I have a spare backrest now) if so, I will update again. ... show more

  • super comfortable chair
I have a bad back so this was just the thing in terms of comfort once I finally figured out how to adjust it to the proper "fit". The only negative thing is the seat cushion -- while extremely comfortable, it is very slippery -- in fact, one day I literally fell off the chair. Wish there was a way to correct this -- I may end up using a piece of non-slip shelf liner. ... show more

  • Good value for price point; easy assembly
I liked that the screws were separated into "pockets" labeled for the step in which they were to be used. I had an issue connecting the back to the seat. There was a piece of plastic blocking the channel, so the flat metal bar supporting the back wouldn't go all the way into the slot. Figuring that out took me several tries. Remember, the flashlight on your phone can help with a lot of issues ;-) Other buyers have commented the seat isn't soft and cushiony. I agree, but I added a foam cushion I had bought previously for my old office chair, [ https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EBDV9BU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ] and it feels very good now. The arm rests are made from a sculpted plastic, which is probably a better choice than the upholstered ones on other chairs. After a few months, the vinyl on my old chair's arm rests flaked off like a cheap "pleather" sofa. ... show more
