Great upgrade from the Blackstone cast iron. The original one corrodes/ rusts being outdoor and is difficult to maintain. This Stanbroil one fit perfectly and cleans up easily.

    • Pros and cons
This is a pretty well made stainless steel top for the 17" Blackstone front grease cup. It fits nicely except for the fact that I have the griddle hood/lid and it doesn't shut all the way. This is because the stainless top is slightly longer on one side. Without the griddle hood I would not have noticed. Not a big deal, just a little annoying to look at once you notice. The top feels only a few pounds lighter than the carbon steel top, so if weight is your concern it does not make a big difference. I actually found it harder to carry due to how much sharper the edges are compared to the rounded edges of the carbon steel top. Another minor annoyance I found was the hole for the grease. It does not curve downwards for flow, instead is flush so you really have to push the grease into the hole. To avoid warping START THE HEAT LOW and gradually work your way up. You probably will never need it higher than medium heat as it gets pretty hot easily. Cleaning was a total breeze and no need to worry about seasoning on stainless. ... show more

I will buy a stainless steel top for every griddle that I own in the future! It can take the heavy use of chopping while cooking - metal tools used to flip- scrape or clean.

Wow. First the Pros: Gets hot fast- eggs, sausage, bacon were all cooked on Low and were perfect. Fajitas, burgers and taco meat cooked on Medium. Easy to clean- tried just water on hot griddle and a paper towel, but ended up buying a cheap grill stone. Hot grill, water and grill stone make quick work of any stuck on food. Yes there are tiny scratches after using the grill brick, no it won’t hurt the steel. No seasoning!!!!- Stainless steel doesn’t need seasoning, just good oil when cooking. Clean it up and it’s ready to be put away, no rusting….ever!! Cons- gets really hot, don’t use High unless you’re ready to sear. Hot spots, heat distribution isn’t as even as the original Blackstone top, although that had hot spots as well. The stainless griddle is about 1/4” less wide at the walls than the BS top. So when storing, the top doesn’t sit nicely over the base unit like the BS top did. So it doesn’t fit the the BS carrying case very well. None of these are deal breakers, they just prevent it from being 5 stars. ... show more

    • Well made Grill
This 17 inch stainless steel grill replaced the original cast iron grill on my Blackstone grill. It is well made and it fit perfectly. It heats up fast, and cooks outstanding. It is re-enforced underneath with welded baffles......so it should NOT warp. Very pleased with the product and price.
