  • May Break Quickly Due To Unrealistic Requirement of Complete Immersion
Product has no tolerance for not being fully immersed, will start smoking! This item must be immersed over 8 inches in liquid or may start smoking and possibly break! Theres a protective sensor inside it if it gets too hot will permanently stop working. Most likely this will happen not fully immersed. This also means you cannot use it to say, heat up a 16 oz. Cup because several inches will be left not immersed and start smoking/overheating. If you buy this anyways, don't be surprised if it breaks quickly on you. A side complaint is that the power cord is way too thin! This is 1,000 Watts. Its like running a Microwave Oven on a thin little power cord. What often happens is these little cords cannot handle the heat and constant bending and either break, melt, or short out quickly. This could be hazardous. I recommend buying the ones that have a VERTICLE COIL (this one has a horizontal coil) I have used the verticle coil style before and they can tolerate being in only a few inches of liquid. ... show more

  • Wildly inaccurate rating
Wildly inaccurate rating. Rated as 1000W at 110V. I measured 1631W at 118V which would equate to ~1420W at 110V. My intended application is off-grid with limited power available so is not usable for my need. I'm pissed about the 36 mile RT to drop off for return on a $12 item.

  • Great Affordable Heater
I picked up this 1000 W stainless steel immersion heater to use during camping — in tandem with my Inkbird controller to keep water at a steady temperature — and I’ve been quite pleased so far. Right out of the gate, it warms water quickly. Even in cooler air temperatures, it brings a modest bucket or small tub up to a comfortable level in reasonable time. The stainless steel body feels solid and durable, and it gives me confidence it can resist corrosion or damage from repeated use outdoors. Because I’m using my Inkbird thermostat alongside it, I’ve been able to dial in a consistent target temperature without worrying about overheating or underheating. It holds fairly steady, with only light fluctuations, which is exactly what I wanted. Safety is always a concern with submersible heaters, and this one handles it decently. You do have to make sure it stays fully submerged (don’t let it run dry), and always monitor when in use. But in my experience so far, I haven’t had any issues like shorting or overheating. The power cord is long enough for flexible placement in most setups. Value-wise, it strikes a nice balance: not extremely expensive, but competent enough to do the job. If you want something more industrial, there may be stronger units — but for camping tubs, buckets, inflatable pools, etc., this hits the sweet spot. ... show more

  • Didn't work for very long
This thing is scary. There's no way of controlling the heat, and it will burn everything it touches if you're not careful. On that note, it heats up very quickly, and it gets very hot. However, I was only able to use it a few times before it stopped working altogether. I'm sure the more expensive water heaters work better. Skip this one. ... show more
