After years of winding my yarn on a nostapine I finally broke down and bought this. I love it so much. It is small and portable and clamps perfectly to the top of a little side table. I spent hours yesterday rewinding all of my sloppy balls of yarn. Everything looks so fabulous. Extremely easy to use, although you will probably have to tape the wire arm to your table surface to keep it from moving. But that's no big deal. When I'm using a wrapped yarn it does tend to "shudder" and throw the yarn off when it gets to the 'shoulders' of the yarn cake. But once I discovered that it is just that type of yarn, I could keep an eye on it and work around it. It's no big deal. I haven't used it long enough to know how it'll hold up, but I literally wound yarn for 6 hours yesterday continually and it worked perfectly. Worth every penny! I also like that it is small and when I'm done with it I can just put it in the basket with my yarn cakes and it's out of the way.

I have been needing a yarn winder for all of my yarn that just keeps getting tangled up. This yarn winder is pretty good quality. It secures to my side table well, so I can sit in my recliner and wind my yarn. I am able to make pretty good sized rolls of yarn which can be stacked and stored easier than balls of yarn which unroll easily and get really tangled. It is easy to use and not too loud. I am really happy with it, because having these rolls will make it easier to crochet with. I would recommend it.

Bought this for my niece. She was quite impressed. She mentioned it was quiet compared to some. It was pretty durable for the price. Makes a mess of yarn into a neat ball.

The media could not be loaded. Great winder and allows you to wind a good amount of yarn. I started with a 380 yd skein and was able to wind about 3/4 of it. It winds smoothly but you have to keep some tension on the yarn so that it doesn't slip....I just hold it between my fingers. It's very sturdy and attaches to my table or desk securly. It has helped me to complete my crochet progects a lot faster.

It might be better than literally nothing, but not by much. If you can't afford a better winder, do it by hand and use the money to buy yarn. Cons: The slots to anchor the yarn do not grab at all. You either need to wind the yarn several times in the correct direction and friction-feed the end under it while holding a section in the slots, *OR* tape it, which kind of defeats the whole purpose. Nothing holdS its position. You have to hold the feed AND the feed coil, or it bounces all over. It does NOT control feed tension in any way. When it DOES work, it is very inconsistent. For just a short section in the middle, it winds as you expect. The rest of the time is chaos. Constantly having to stop and remove wound yarn from under the base, or kinked around the feed coil. I'm not trying to show off here. Not going terribly fast. Just fast enough to reasonably resist gravity pulling everything to the floor. Tiny cakes. It will only wind about 20-30 yards total. Then, the yarn starts jumping above and below the winding assembly and making a mess. There is no process to release your tiny baby cake of yarn. Just pull it off. But, if you initially wound it around the base tight enough to keep it from falling off, it will fight you and try to come apart from the center. Pros: It is very easy to assemble.
