  • Does the job well
Was not interested in chipper bells and whistles. Just need it to chew wood and this does exactly what I needed. Assembly was easy. Started on second pull. Ran it for 3 hours chipping up to two inch branches. Probably got a cubic yard of chips. Notes: if it bogs down and stops, they provide a very nice chrome plated tool for turning the motor to free it from what caused it to get stuck. The manual says it's a 17mm nut but its actually 16mm. If it does get stuck you will be unable to pull the starter rope. Just turn the chipper head a bit with the tool and visually check the chipper head to see if something needs to be removed. I used a diesel oil as it has more detergents. I needed to use a bit of choke to start, even when warm. So far, very pleased. ... show more

  • Great little machine.
Arrived fast. Easy to assemble, took about 30 minutes from opening the box to first staring it. Directions.... well I didn’t read them, just looked at the pictures. After assembly, added 16oz of oil and a tank of gas and we were off. Chipped quite a bit of juniper, pine, oak clippings, upto 3”. Does want to stall out once in a while on the bigger stuff if you just cram it it there. Doesn’t like a lot of foliage on the branches (pine needles and juniper needles), had to use a sacrifice stick to encourage some stuff to go through. Jams are simple to clean out if you have one of those infamous 10mm sockets. 2 bolts, drop the chute, clean out, bolt the chute back up and be on your way. Doesn’t self feed very well, but is manageable. Will shoot chips about 15’ if the chute is all the way up. Would be nice to have a handle to grab to move it around with, especially when it’s running, putting hands on the sides of the feed chute isn’t the greatest way. Overall very pleased, easy to start, decent on fuel and easy to assemble. Perfect for the average homeowner. We have just over an acre lot that is heavily treed with pinon/ponderosa pine and juniper. We use the chips for walkways and horse stalls, and have been using an electric chipper for the past 3 years, or renting a gas powered one. This thing is definitely better than electric for just a few $$ more, and while not as big as a gas one it costs less than me renting one for a week. Ran 4 tanks of fuel and 0 issues. ... show more

  • Best money I have ever spent !
Ok first thing I want to cover is the things that would improve this great little wood chipper is a set of handles! It's not the easiest to move over a rough lawn it's a little tipsy the second item is the outlet chutes length its a little short for my little 5 yard garden trailer but works great if I tilt the wagon to dump it works perfect now for the good it shreds trees fast! Anything under 2 inches is gone in seconds! Between 2 and 3 inch diameter branches you have to be careful how fast you feed them in but it will definitely do it this little chipper has outperformed every other chipper I have ever used that will do 3 inch branches! Including dr chippers! The other thing I really liked about it is it comes with solid tires! not cheap air filled tubeless tires that are flat in a week. A truly amazing product that is a great bargain for the price! ... show more

  • Not bad but...
For a small machine, works great for taking care of prunings and small branches. Shoots right into small rubbermaid can with no mess. Tired of hauling around larger chippers. This fits the bill. A common complaint about no handle was fixed using 1/2 copper pipe. Fits right inside frame. No screws needed if you do it right. Also when you lift up the FEED hopper for cleaning, make sure it is bolted back down enough for the two fillips screws to contact hopper. Or machine will not fire. Safety feature I figure. I was pretty close to returning before I finally saw the wires under the hopper. Runs like a champ so far and definitely not as load as the bigger chippers. Might get another one. ONE MONTH LATER.... Blades dulled quickly which explains the double edge. I mean FRIED. Don't even try to cut hard wood. Just will stick to smal diameter fresh wood. Changed to second edge and will watch what happens. Also as you can see from other reviews, getting placement blades is not an option. Not available. Company says blades will be available soon. But until that happens, pass on this chipper. Too bad because machine is good if blades were reliable. ... show more

  • Do not block the output chute. Works on bamboo.
Starts easy. Chips quick and up to 3". Assembly was child's play and disappointingly metric. (Still prefer SAE) Clogged once, my mistake. After removing the clog, it worked perfectly from then out. Motor is fairly quiet.

  • Good little chipper...
This is a pretty good little chipper. Not great, and not big or particularly powerful. Will it chip up a 3" limb? Maybe, but you must feed it manually and slowly. Worth the money? Probably. Good engine. Solid construction. Complaints? One. No way to move it. It's got wheels but no where to pull or push it from. No handle. Treat it well and it will probably serve you well. ... show more

  • Leaky unit only ran for 25 minutes
I ran the FM6DD for the first time this morning, and we noticed there was a leak coming around the shut off valve after about 25 minutes of being running, so we turned it off immediately for security reasons. After the engine cooled off, we tried to start it a second time with the intention to take a video and document this defective unit, but we were unable to get it started a second time. We verified the 10W-30 oil level and removed the existing gas in the gas tank as well as replaced it with new Regular-Unleaded-87-Octane gasoline with less than 10% ethanol. We had another new spark plug on hand, so we even replaced it as well. but none of our efforts were successful in starting this faulty unit for the second time. I thus want my money back as I did not pay to have this clearly defective unit. ... show more
