While I'm not a fan of padlocks on most ranch gates, the lock feature on this latch makes it easy to attach a spring clip to the standard gate chain & through the latch lock making a secure gate control that takes seconds to operate & not get lost when disconnected. this thing is great. easy to install. the gate will swing and latch itself shut. the latch is easy to open. the build is thick and sturdy. It's exactly what I wanted and needed. I'll put one of these on every gate I have from now on.

I put this latch on my driveway gate, and after cutting and chipping the old RR post to attach it, it is way better than a chain and a long cable to lock it. Very solid and easy to use in a free range area where cattle can access my property if it isn't secure.

Overall - I was very impressed with this gate latch. Comparable ones were twice the price at home depot but I feel that the quality is just as good (maybe better). Only "complaint" is that the paint rubbed off in a few spots during install, but it was primarily near the washers so it's hard to notice and afterall, its a livestock gate. ... show more
