Description

SPA AND HOT TUB USE: Each level teaspoon (0.17 oz.) of this product will provide approximately 1.4 ppm available chlorine in 500 gallons of water. Using an appropriate test kit, test and adjust the water to the following values: pH 7.2-7.8, total alkalinity 60-100 ppm, calcium hardness 200 ppm minimum. Maintain these conditions for proper spa and hot tub operation by frequent testing with a test kit. Do not allow cyanuric acid level to exceed 150 ppm. It is recommended that spas and hot tubs be drained every 30-90 days. More often under heavy use. Consult manufacturer’s recommendations concerning the compatibility of chlorine sanitizers with their equipment. Some oils, lotions, fragrances and cleaners may cause foaming or cloudy water and may react with chlorine sanitizers to reduce their efficacy. START-UP (FRESHLY FILLED): 1. Turn on the circulation system and ensure that it is working properly. 2. Add 6 teaspoons of this product for each 500 gallons of water. Check the free available chlorine (FAC) and, if below 4-5 ppm, repeat as needed. Re-entry into treated spas is prohibited above levels of 3 ppm of chlorine.

Don't even bother trying to get the lid off, it will be difficult every time you open it. Struggling with the lid is more dangerous than the harm the safety lid was meant to protect against. I'm always worried it will pry loose suddenly and the product will pop up into my face. Just buy this product, it works great.Then take a knife and cut a hole in the lid. Then pour the contents into a rational container and store it in a safe dry place. ... show more

Really tricky to figure out how to open. But I now know how. See below. Company should send me a free bucket and a company polo shirt for doing the helpful instructions below. Top fine print embossing on the lid says to push the tab "back." This is not at all easy to read or even see, and it is not at all helpful. What does "back" mean anyway. The embossing department could have spared one other tiny arrow point out from the center toward the lip. It is a safety latch, so for the sake of safety of children or spills do not remove it or defeat it. Chemically blind eyes will have an even harder time seeing what the embossing does and does not say. Red latch is curved on the inside for a thumb to be able to push it toward the outside of the bucket. Put your thumb on the red latch part. Place your fingers of same hand on the outside opposite the latch where your thumb is. Squeeze the thumb toward your fingers, effectively your are pinching your fingers and thumb together. Have the bucket resting on a clear flat surface. Have someone with strong large hands hold the bucket. You do not want to fumble and spill or shake the the chemicals into your face as you get it open. Place your other hand on the opposite side of the lid. Rotate the top counter-clockwise, just like opening a jar. When the lid is put back on you will hear the light sound of clicking, if the latch is properly seating. It may take a wiggle to set it so functions as a safety. Future openings are going to be much easier. ... show more

I've used other products that do not work anywhere near as good as this stuff. I'm having to add it less often so it lasts longer and the clean and clear water is the true test. Other brands have left undissolved granules in my hot tub, but this stuff doesn't. I was highly skeptical that it would work because I've paid 5 times more for brands that claim they are the best. I was worried that the price meant it wouldn't work as good, but I was wrong. I ended up buying because the brand I used was out of stock for several months.
