    • This is a fantastic modern-looking piece of furniture, especially for the price.

The item does take some time to assemble, but that's expected with something as large and complex as a dresser. The majority of the item is a dense particleboard - it's very heavy compared to most flatpacked furniture. The only weak-ish points would be the plastic drawer railings and the bottoms of the drawers, but the railings seem durable, and with a 5-year guarantee from the manufacturer I'm appeased (I did snap a bit of one on my fiancee's dresser, but the way they're constructed allows for some leeway in...er, minimalist assembly). I was worried about the bottoms of the drawer bending or snapping due to the material being thin, but it's holding up surprisingly well. I opted not to glue anything initially to see how it held up, but even with my moderately overstuffing the drawers there's no sign of bending or weakening on the bottom panels. So, really, the fears of durability seem unfounded. The finish I opted for was the pure black one, which is a really modern look to match the room with black glass/steel decor. It's fantastic. I was expecting the traditional black-dyed veneer, but the dresser is actually a solid black, hiding the material it's constructed with and, in my opinion, making the piece look way better. PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING! I wouldn't recommend this to anyone I like. I do know furntiure and putting it together. I bought a 4 piece set mirror, dresser, two night stands and every piece had a ding scratch or broken piece in the set I had to get replaced and even the replacement they got backwards as well as two pieces came damaged again, then I had to wait for another shipment. The top part of the mirror came cracked. Two sides on the on each night stand had cracks in them and edges broken off. One dresser drawer side holes were to big and no way to fix it, as well as a chunk broken off one of the pieces. Support is very helpful, sounds like they been through this before, alot. Each piece is heavy. Made of cheap pressed wood, sturdy accept for at connections (you reallty should glue any pieces together).BIG NOTE; The items that I had come damaged I don't think was from shipping. The boxes they were shipped in were in undamaged condition, not only that but the items damaged were in towards the middle which to me means they may have packed it damaged. The finish is crap. I would recommend putting a coat of sealer for tops and sides, a smooth bottom ashtray put a scratch on one piece. I used Polycrylic by Minwax after cleaing the surface and used a Tac cloth to remove all particals before I coated it. The "special" dowel holes are to big on almost all of my pieces and unless you glue them the thing falls apart. I found this out while putting it together. On the night stands and dresser, I was at the step up to flipping the pieces over after attaching the sides middle bottom and top, then you have to turn it upside right. I knew I was going to have problems because I noticed the dowels were loose in their holes and coming out of the wood through the process. We were turning it over and it just fell apart at most the "special" dowels. The only way to fix that is to glue the "special" dowels in place first and and you may also need wood filler if the dowel holes are to big to just glue(did that on two of them). I wouldn't move it around much if you do buy one and don't glue it. Keep in mind if you glue it, you will destroy it if you try to take it apart to return piece(s) or for any reason. The drawers bottoms are flimsy, but holds a drawer full of clothes. Another important step is to make sure everything is square on the dressers and stands before you nail on the backboard. I see people saying to glue this nail an extra that, change this and that, but that's not what it says in instructions. From how they describe you'd only need a screwdriver and hammer. Ease is one of the main reasons why I bought this. All that said after taking the time to glue it all and put the clear coat on, it's a pretty sturdy cheap set of furniture because while shopping if you want a "real" set of furnture like this you're looking at at least a grand or two. The good thing is anything damaged they replace fairly quickly with a phone call and you're Item number which is on the first page of your instruction leaflet, don't lose that. I was concerned about buying it because of the negative reviews but I'm glad I went with it because it's a great piece of furniture for the price. It looks modern and goes great in my bedroom. The material is cheap but, like I said, a tight budget requires sometimes that you buy cheap. If you expect to put food/drinks on it, it probably won't last long. I would recommend it in a room for adults who'll leave it alone. It does smell a bit the first few days. The set-up is really difficult but once you do it, it's worth it. The part that is difficult are the drawers. Every step of putting the drawers sucks! Expect to try different tools, and be amazed at the screws. I would recommend standing on the plastic slider stuff instead of using the hammer (you'll know what I mean if you get it). Also, get a few friends over and put the drawers together because it'll take a few hours alone. Even my strong husband found it challenging cuz of the dumb design. Also, N item may be broken in half. You don't really need it. We put it in place anyway. Hope you enjoy it! ... show more
