  • small, mighty player
I like this player so much I'm thinking about buying another while it's still available. Easily plays DVD's and Blu-Ray Disc my old, apparently worn out player was struggling to get through. Good price, and bang for your buck. Simple operation. I can use my Sony television remote with this model and everything syncs. ... show more

  • When you need one, this is it.
Update: Amazon sold this DVD player/streamer to me this summer. So yesterday, Amazon Prime announces it no longer supports this device. Nice scam. I keep the old electronics for backup. When my DVD player got wonky, I had two backups. The further back in Sony history I went, the worse it got. How primitive! So I accidently order this one which was "refreshed". Sound is much better, the picture is amazing, and the streaming works great. What a BARGAIN. Oh, the streaming controls are great ... show more

  • OK for Playing Video Discs, but App Software Stinks
Using this "smart" Blu-ray player to watch Amazon Prime, YouTube, etc. on my perfectly fine but not-smart TV. Everything works the first time, but if you want to watch two Amazon shows in a row, it often gets hung up unless you totally exit from the Amazon app and then re-enter. You can watch multiple things on YouTube, but if you then go to Amazon without totally re-starting the device, things don't work right. Have been hoping that a software update will come through, but so far, no luck. Not having the same issue on the Samsung Blu-ray player attached to another TV, so I think the software problem is Sony's, not Amazon's. ... show more

  • Happy so far and price makes it virtually disposable
Connected this to a Toshiba Fire TV Edition and the TV's remote controls it well. There does seem to be one missing HTML-CEC link though: switching to the Blu-ray input on the TV should turn on the player, but does not. Have to fish out the player's remote to turn it on in that scenario. None of the TVs buttons will return it to the "home" screen either, but don't really care as only use it to view discs. Turning off the player when the TV goes off is configurable. I turned it off, but found the player still goes into standby after a while. Recommend enabling the "fast startup" option as well, as it is almost instantaneous, as compared to the several seconds it took out of the box. One week in, have seen it freeze up once. Easy enough to disconnect the power cord from the back of the player and plug it back in. Hitting open and then close on the remote works as well, auto-playing the disc. Will be irritating if it happens more than once a week. Wonder if I should have skipped connecting it to the network, as have no need to stream through this thing (pales in comparison to the TV). Also can't believe that Sony's firmware still insists on popping up an alert when "Internet content is ready", requiring a tap to close it and see that, yes indeed, the content is there. Whatever. :) Came with all of the cables, including HDMI and like that it has such a small footprint as well. Can't beat this for $60. Know that it is renewed, but it is new to me. :) ... show more

  • Comes With Everything You Need, Great Renewed Condition
Disc players are pretty much the only thing I'll buy renewed because they're pretty study and simple machines and I don't see a reason to pay full price. This came in perfect condition and works exactly as you'd expect. I love that it's small enough that it borderlines on portable and can easily be moved from my living room to my bedroom with the plug of an HDMI cord. ... show more

  • A renewed product with a bang
Have not placed any kind of a disc within. I have put my 2TB USB external drive into it. It plays mpeg, MP4, mkv files without a problem. Simple installation by HDMI to the TV and play a movie of choice without the fuss of putting a disc in and taking it out at the end. The biggest gripe I have is the TINY remote and it's not back lit. Big fingers in a dim room on a tiny remote... ... show more

  • Do not order this item
I ordered two, one for our bedroom where we only had DVD, and one for a room which we were preparing for isolation in case one of us caught the virus. Both worked perfectly out of the box. I set the up and was excited about all the features. Then I didn't visit them again since they were not in our main view area. I decided to watch a Blue Ray in our bedroom while the family watch something else. I tried the remote. No response. The unit was turned on because I could see a blue light. But when I manually pressed the buttons, no response. I was going to try a Blue Ray disk, but I got no response either from the remote or the button which I tried to open the tray. When I tried to get permission from the company that sold it, this is their email to me: "Good As New Electronics has closed the return request listed below. Reason for the closure of your request: Expiration of returns period" They are right about that. It was passed the expiration date. So I've got some equipment which won't even make good boat anchors, and they get this review. This is an addendum to my review. I Googled the model # and found that I was not alone with this problem. This is what I wrote to the company who sells this garbage: I bought two of your refurbished Sony BDP-S3700 Blue Ray Players a couple of months ago for my bedroom and for a room we set up in case one of got Covid19. I set them upl. They worked. I was thrilled at the features. Then, we never used them until last night. Both units are dead. No response either the remote or the panel. Blue on light stays on and blue ray shows on the screen, but nothing else. Yes, it is past time for my return. But here's the deal. I went on line to research solutions for this problem. And guess what? There are none. I admit, I should have done due diligence as a buyer, but as a seller,, if you are legitimate, you have a responsibility not to sell a product with problems with which there is no solution. There are tons of postings about this complaint, and none of them are resolved. You should have know this. You can type the product # on Google the same as me. You are a shady company, and Amazon has no business having you as a vendor. I will do my best to see that you are removed. An addendum. I was wrong about being beyond the expiration date for return. I ordered 04/10/2020. I ask for return permission May 23. The Amazon warranty was for 90 days, so I was well within the time limit. ... show more
