  • Slim, sleek for CDs and DVDs
It came with all necessary cords. Easy to set up, works well with my older stereo receiver. Theres a remote for all of the features. There’s three buttons on the unit to open/close the tray, play/pause discs, and power on/off. Easy to use the buttons but you need the remote to skip tracks or skip scenes. I’ve mostly been using for CDs so far. I like that it’s small and I might order a second one to just keep at the TV. ... show more

  • Great unit (if you take good care of electronics)
Make sure you get the model that has the HDMI out as well as RCA cable connection (S700). A couple of things: 1. ONLY use the open/close button for the door--DO NOT push the door with your fingers. It's not sturdy enough for that. 2. ONLY remove a DVD by placing your finger in the DVD hole. The drawer does not have cutouts on the side for your fingers and you could break the mechanism. 3. I have the RCA cables hooked to my receiver and the HDMI cord hooked to my TV. The RCA cables fit VERY tight--make sure they are pushed in snugly or you will have problems with sound/picture. If you're having trouble with picture or sound, the first thing I would suggest is check to make sure the RCA Red/White/Yellow connections are pushed in all the way. 4. I would highly recommend only adults use this DVD player--it's not sturdy enough for kids or others that don't take special care when using electronics. 5. MAKE SURE you read in the manual how to get to the settings. Some will need changing. On mine, the factory setting for picture size was set to 4x3 (for old square TVs) rather than 16x9 (newer recantangular TVs) 6. The remote is very compact/small with lots of close-together buttons. If you're older, you're probably going to have to hold it very close to choose what you want to do. 7. I've thrown all kinds of media at it--store bought DVDs, home-burned DVD-R and DVD+R. No problems with any of them. I have not tried using it to play CDs so I can't speak to that. 8. It's a nice, compact unit and light weight. I'd make sure it's not sitting too close to the edge of where you put it--I don't think it would survive any kind of fall. 9. It came with an RCA cable (Red/White/Yellow) but NOT an HDMI cord so you'll need to get a cheap one of those. The batteries are included for the remote. 10. Picture quality on my TV is excellent. Sound through the receiver is excellent as well. ... show more

  • More bang for your buck than anything else in this price range
I looked at alot of DVD players and was disappointed in most of what I saw. Some went straight to the video instead of to the menu, some had an audio lag, some were painfully slow to start, and some had unintuitive remote controls. I was especially disappointed with all of the Sony DVD players I looked at. For this and other products Sony has really gone downhill. This Panasonic player loads quickly, sets up easily, opens the menu, the remote has alot of buttons but it is easy to learn, it doesn't generate heat, and basically it does everything it is supposed to do better than many other brands. It does upconvert, not all the way to 1080 (none of them do due to the original quality of the recording), but the picture is better than I expected and there are no artifacts like in other upconverting DVD players. It works through my eARC connections (when I turn the DVD player on my TV also turns on and selects the correct HDMI port on my TV, plus it turns my soundbar on in the correct sound mode), and my TV adds some additional upconversion. It should note that I have a newer 4K TV and I use certified 8K HDMI cables. Since this is installed in an enclosed cabinet, I installed an IR repeater with an outside the cabinet sensor and this player and remote control have no problem with IR response at all. I am very happy with the quality and operation, specially given the price of this DVD player. ... show more

  • Great Player
I have some DVD's that look horrible on the big tv, this was at a great price and have a smaller tv I hooked this up to, it works perfect. Some of the titles aren't available for streaming and it's so nice to be able to watch them again with a great picture.

  • Choose Another Brand!
I have to give this one a low review. One it doesn't come with the cord needed to go in back of your TV so either have one or go but one. Two is really the reason why. It's the worst DVD player I've ever owned. It takes a long time to load and start playing. Also each time you want to put in a DVD even if playing more than 1 DVD, if you want closed captioning you have to select it. You basically are restarting everything each time you want to hit play. If you hit pause or replay/ fast fwd too many times it will tell you the DVD cannot be Read or it will say No DVD when there is clearly one in there. The remote is small and the buttons are too close so if you select the wrong button you're likely to start the DVD over... That's if you can get it to play again. Honestly I have DVD/ VHS combination that is 21 years old. It plays way better than this one. Quality today is down the drain. The manufacturer should be giving this one away for free. Don't waste your money. This is a true review. I still have time to return mine and I think I just have to. ... show more
