  • Flow volume rate does not work
20260730: Checking back in to share that I'm very happy with this water valve. It is reliable and works awesome with home assistant. One piece of advice and do not leave it outside, connected or disconnected, if the temperature drops below 32° , I lost one of these devices due to that. I have four of these devices now for various Garden watering schedules. 20251002: I just wanted to provide an update and everyone know that I resolved all my issues when I switched it from Zigbee to Zigbeemqtt. The company Sonoff was awesome and they even sent me a replacement. All my prior issues are resolved, especially the flow rate now works fine. Increasing the five stars Flow volume rate does not work over zigbee connected home-assistant installation. I've tested multiple times with varying garden hose spigot adjustments. Even work with manufacturer and receive replacement, which also doesn't report water volume flow rate. ... show more

  • Avoid. Leaks and spews water out of the connectors. Find a better product.
Using this with Home Assistant. Pairing and connectivity is fine. Reporting is so-so - the flow-rate reporting would frequently stop working, while the on/off control would continue to work fine. Batteries last surprisingly long time. The reason for one star, and this is a dealbreaker for me: this thing is leaky as heck, especially around the top connection collar. The primary issue is that you cannot trust it, and you need to constantly check on it in order to make sure it's not spewing water. A particular problem that happens frequently is when you turn it off, it'll go into a "hammering" sequence where it spurts water out the edge of the top connection collar. This is not a trivial situation - it's a horrible racket, and it spews water everywhere. You have to go physically manhandle and rotate the body of the device, or just turn off the upstream water supply. Not a fun event, let me assure you. And even when it's performing optimally, it still leaks a continuous (albeit small) amount of water from the top. So it's a perfectly fine controller, but a very poorly-built piece of hardware. The whole point of a device like this is to be able to control it remotely, and yet you cannot do that because this one needs to be baby-sat. Even trying to turn it off can be problematic. So you can't automate this, you can't even switch it off from indoors because again - that hammering issue is real, and you just cannot trust it to behave. And it's especially frustrating because as far as I can tell, this is as good as it gets for Zigbee-based water/hose valves. ... show more

  • Great way to automate lawn watering on a budget
I am using this for a makeshift irrigation system to water a newly seeded lawn. I was able to easily connect this to home assistant and build a watering schedule. It's also great to just push a button on my phone to turn on rather than walking out to the spigot if I notice the seed/soil is dry form inside my house. I had to use the extra included o-ring to stop leaking at the device input, but once added, I have no issues with any leaks. ... show more

  • Worked, but only for a month
I initially had this set up in Home Assistant using ZHA. The attached misters were too low flow and the Sonoff valve didn't see any flow, so the valve was automatically shut off. I then read that if I ran the valve using Z2M, I could disable that setting. It worked beautifully for a month. One night I saw the misters were still running at night. The valve was no longer responding. I changed batteries, but nothing changed. So, two stars. Using Z2M on Home Assistant I was able to have automated outdoor misters for a short time. ... show more

  • Great for stationary application.
Plastic threads, I would not trust for none stationary application. However, I forgot to remove it last fall and found it frozen with solid ice inside. Thawed it out and worked fine. Pulled out this spring and Home Assistant (Zigbee2MQTT) instantly reconnected after putting batteries back in. No connection issues even thought it is outside a separate building from hub (SMLIGHT SLZB-06). 5 stars if it survives this summer.? ... show more

  • Good Zigbee device that doesn’t need an extra hub with SmartThings
Good product. Paired easily with my SmartThings hub just as a zigbee device. I read I can install a different driver maybe to get battery level and some other features but haven’t tried that yet.

  • Great for the price and features when it stays connected =(
Takes a little getting use to, as there's not much information included as far as default functions, like what it'll do if it loses signal or max run time, or even how to ensure it has good signal in the first place. the most frustrating thing was that in using it with home assistant via zigbee, and it being located outside was difficulty in the zigbee signal reaching it, prob cuz my zigbee adapter isn't a v3 like this device is. Which i think explains my limited range and low signal level and seeming inability to update to the latest firmware, though it did update it one version but not after that. Ive figured out that putting a zigbee light in the room nearest the outdoor spigot its connected to has fixed it losing signal and dropping off the network, which when this happened it would require reaadding the device by going outside to it and then running back in to add it in the system. Also it doesn't say anywhere but if it does drop off the network due to low signal and it's on it to turn off automatically after 20 minutes, but other than it not turning back on via command there's no way to tell by looking at it that it's not longer connected. but once u get it consistent signal it never drops off anymore. it has a sensor to measure flow rate but it has to be significant flow to get a reading, so Mister or drip systems will read as 0 usually. Its a great product for the price, solid. I would recommend not leaving it in direct Sun, i put a shade in front of it to prevent it from drying out and cracking the plastic body. battery life is as advertised it seems so far. UPDATE: 7.2026: This thing still works great, WHEN it can stay connected. The number of times it has disconnected and stays disconnected requiring me to run in and out of the house, pressing the join button MQTT or ZHA as I've tried both, then running outside to the SWV and press its button in time, then running back inside to check, only to see that nothing has happened, rinse, repeat, battery swap, holding button reinserting batteires, changing zigbee channels, resetting the zigbee network, removing, force removing. its been a hassle to get it to work reliably. At most I think I get about 7 days of work out of it where it stays more or less connected, it at least stays connected enough to get 90% or more of the commands sent to it. I've tried turning off and on optimistic mode in MQTT but it didn't help. The flow measurement is stuck on always, I can manually request a reading and that will work when its connected that is, but it wont update on the next turn on of the valve. Its incredibly intermittent. Going to try to change batteries again maybe that will get it better signal. I'm using a a Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 dongle, so I don't know what else I can do to get it to work better, its frustrating to say the least. Add to that they released a newer model, and made this one way cheaper than when I purchased it not that long ago. The newer model has a brass connector which is fine, mine is still good, though I found its better to put some sort of shade provider so the plastic body doesnt age or dry out too quickly. As it is its already starting to fade on the black part of its plastic body. It could be awesome, but either iits range, or its policy on reconnecting or attempting reconnection to the hub is terrible. I've even updated the firmware and it seems to not have helped much if at all. Please update the firmware to attempt to reconnect to the network rather than losing connection for a few minutes and refusing to try to connect again until manually going out there to press the button to rejoin. One time it wasnt even that it lost connection on its own, I just had to reboot my computer running MQTT and I guess the machine was down a few minutes longer than this thing wanted before it decided to give up checking in and not reconnecting again. ... show more

  • Completely Useless and Turns on by itself! AVOID!
AVOID!! I liked this option since it can run on Zigbee like many devices in my house, but this has to be the worst smart home product I have ever tried! I run a Home Assistant server and control wi-fi, z-wave, and Zigbee devices. I have tried everything to get this thing to work. I tried using normal batteries instead of rechargeables (even though I have never had an issue), I tried a new Zigbee radio (even though none of my other Zigbee devices have issues), I have tried moving it closer to the radio, I even tried a BRAND NEW home assistant controller and radio.... it barely connects. The pairing took multiple tries, it looses connection in the same room as the radio, but the final nail in the coffin was I came home from work with the power out on the house and the water was running! When it could not detect the radio it just turned on! Filled my garden with water and probably killed all my plants. Keep in mind I had pretty much given up on the connectivity, so no automations were controlling it to tell it to turn on. Worst smart home product I have ever seen. ... show more
