I used 3 of these to convert my whole home Baseboard heating into a "smart" system. Each channel pumps the switching12v to a bank of high amp relays which are connected by the black/red pigtails strait off my independent Baseboard 20a circuit breakers. 240v power goes through the breaker to the relay by the pigtail, switched by the relay that is controlled by the sonoff, then back through the red pigtails to the lead in the breaker panel feeding the thermostat then into the heater. It works great! I can schedule zones to be on/off and different time of the day, but most important I can turn OFF all the heaters during the 2 peak power periods where my electrical rate is nearly 2x normal. I've also got 4 sonoff ZigBee thermometers that can override and turn everything back ON if it gets too cold. It works great and these 4 channel devices are the heart of it all! ... show more

We have kind of an old run down property in rural Oregon I'm slowly updating... one of the updates was adding a 2nd garage door opener to our manual door in our garage. I knew before installing it I wanted to be able to add smart control to it and the existing garage door opener... ideally whatever I went with would also allow for RF control. I was really excited to find this, and also find it was a great price for what it does. It took quite a few trips back and fourth to the electrical panel (not close to the garage) before I figured out what I was doing, but once I got everything connected up, it worked perfectly... now I can control both doors and lights with this controller with my phone over the internet, or with RF remotes. The item is lightweight, flimsy, and feel brittle. Everything about it screams "cheap" like most Sonoff products. That said, it does the job it's supposed to do, albeit with a clinkity-clunkity sound that doesn't inspire a ton of confidence for longevity. At the end of the day, I'll keep it and put it into service because it fills a market niche that doesn't have a lot of competition...and if if breaks, I can replace it cheaply. But I would rather pay a little more for a better-made product that feels like it's going to last. ONE HUGE FLAW in the design is the fact that it is DIN rail-compatible, but NOT DON BOX-compatible. That is to say, most DIN equipment has a standard "Front face" that is a standard hight and depth, and multiples of one unit wide...That's because DIN enclosures often have a front cover that allows the control part of the equipment to be nicely presented, and the rest of the component, the rail, the wiring, etc. to be hidden. This relay mounted in such a cabinet is recessed far back into the darkness. There's just not real reason to make it DIN rail mountable with front-facing controls, and not put those controls up where the control area of a DIN enclosure is. It's a huge miss. As for myself, I'm going to design and 3D print some DIN rain standoff brackets that will move the relay forward and up (or down--I don't remember quite off) to get the control buttons and status lights up to the actual control area of my enclosure. But it's far from a perfect solution, because the mounting ears on the sides won't allow you to butt it up against another component, and it's a non-standard size. It's so weird--they fit the control buttons and lights in the space for a control panel, but they didn't put those in the actual place for a control panel. It's DIN-compatible, but NOT DIN-compliant. I might design a 3D print a whole new case for it. That would be a huge hit in the maker space, I bet. Why can't SONOFF do that themselves? It's a huge miss. ... show more

FANTASTIC SWITCH!!! i love this thing. it was easy to install. simple to setup. just the way i like it!! works like a charm. ive been using mine for the last 2 years or so. looking at getting a couple more pretty soon. dont pass this switch up. it was an amazing find!!

When I learned that the Sonoff 4CH Pro R3 works with home assistant without flashing its firmware, I bought one of these. I used SonoffLAN on GIthub with Home Assistant and got it working. I had to manually edit my automations and stick in the device ID and entry ID since HA did not see a device for the entries. Note that my multimeter says it draws .016 amps when no switches are on, and then each switch turned on draws .04 amps while on. So the total was about .176 amps (at 12 volts). ... show more
