Great Alarm Clock!

I ordered this alarm clock because the previous one I had bought the farm. It got old, dusty and just didn't work properly after about 6 years. No these won't last forever, as with most things manufactured these days, but they are a nice touch if you really need to wake up at a specific time. The included vibrating attachment is very loud, should you choose to connect it. I didn't want to be late for work a few days during crunch time so I plugged it in and set it inside my bedside drawer. Needless to say, I woke up. As far as setting the time goes, it's got a slow and fast ticker. There is no reversing, so if you miss the minute you want, you have to sit for a while to dial it in. You can also set TWO alarms on this clock and both can be activated at the same time, or just one or the other. The numbers come in a classic red as shown in the listing picture, and is dimmable if desired. I highly recommend this for anyone having trouble getting out of bed (just set it in another room to avoid the snooze button) ... show more

10 Years Still Going Strong

I write this review because I was worried that the vibration shaker finally gave out, but apparently it just needed unplugging and plugging back in. As the title states, I got this alarm clock 10 years ago because I needed something that would still wake me up without disturbing other members of the household; the vibration shaker was the perfect solution for my needs. The decibel alarm itself is very effectively loud, so I cannot speak for it as much as I only used the vibration option to wake up in the morning, but I love this clock dearly. The accuracy of the alarm triggering is always spot on, the time display is very much visible and easy to read. The black/red appearance of it is a favorite color combination of mine. I cannot speak for the battery life as I've only left the clock plugged into the wall, but I'm sure it's just as good as the rest of its functions. The first few times you use the vibration shaker, it'll jostle you for sure, but you'll quickly get used to it and I find it necessary to use alongside my phone alarm to get me up in the mornings. Unfortunately the price is higher than what I paid back then, but considering general inflation over time and the quality of this clock? I'd buy it again easily. In need of a forever(?) alarm clock? Perfect alarm clock for anyone

Alright, I got a long review. So bear with me. First, back in high school, I struggled to find the perfect alarm clock to wake me up, bc I’m hearing impaired and a simple alarm clock on my phone will not work. I tried several brands. One with a flashing lamp. Which doesn’t really work. I tried other brands that also had a vibrating disk. But they quickly broke. So it wasn’t durable. Then I came across sonic boom. And honestly, the product I got had lasted more than ten years. And it’s really impressive The alarm volume is loud enough, not too loud or obnoxious. And the sound can also be adjusted as well The LED for the time can actually be adjusted for brightness if you can’t deal with light while you’re trying to sleep. Which is super cool And the buttons for changing the time… I actually don’t like this. I would have to press really hard to actually get it to move forward. And to me, it’s not really easy to do. Plus, if you accidentally went over your target time, you have to cycle a full 24 hours until you get your desired time. My one suggestion to make this easier is this: Here’s our format ##:## Toggle one of the ##, and you can easily change it. And toggle to the next ## to change it, and then assign that as either AM or PM. That way we don’t need to keep cycling a full 24 hours to get the desired time But that’s just my suggestion. But I do understand that sonic boom is made to be simple, but the buttons aren’t fun to press or adjust so I try to avoid changing it at all Thankfully, this clock brand does give you an option to create two different alarm. Like, one at 5am and one at 8am. Which saves you the trouble of resetting it every time. In addition, the alarm does flash light. It’s not too bright, but it does help me register my sleepy mind that my alarm is screaming at me. And the disk. It’s perfect. It wakes me up without issues. And it’s extremely durable. And the best part? It has a five year warranty. So if I were you, I would definitely save any paper from the box. And this battery also takes a backup battery called a V9. In case your power goes out. I bought another one bc I saw that my alarm clock kept resetting itself. It still works, but research tells me that it started to wear down and any electronics, like wireless charging pad can actually disrupt the compacitor - I forget what’s it’s called or spelled. But basically my old clock is starting to show its age. So I bought another just in case. All in all, this is definitely worth the $40. And I do recommend this brand to anyone. ... show more

Great alarm, poor configuration experience.

Very loud, definitely will wake up an extremely heavy sleeper, but a struggle to set. If you wake up at the same time every day, you can't go wrong with this clock, but if you have to wake up at varying times, setting this clock is a nightmare. Time only counts up, you cannot go backwards if you go beyond the time you want - you have to loop around 24 hours to get back. While setting the alarm, if the alarm is armed, the alarm will go off while setting it - this is a design oversight. Overall, this is a strong recommendation for heavy sleepers who get up at the same time every day. ... show more

Great alarm clock for waking sound sleepers!

This clock is getting rather mixed reviews and I was a little worried when I bought my first one about a year ago. I bought it for my son, who was a senior in high school. He slept through all of the alarms that I bought at Wal-mart for him. He would then be late (or not go) to school and the principal would call me to ask where he was. (I swear the principal had me on speed dial!) After I gave my son this alarm he never slept through his alarm again. He did leave school early on numerous occasions (and the principal kept me on speed dial) but an alarm clock can only do so much at helping with parenting. (He graduated, thank God, and uses the alarm to wake-up for work now.) My son's alarm has worked perfectly since the day it arrived, so I had no qualms in deciding to buy one for myself last April. I am hard-of-hearing and I like the vibrating disc that goes under my mattress. It wakes me up right away. I don't even put on the noise--just the vibrator. It works great! It has gained 2 minutes in 5 months. I think people should READ THE DIRECTIONS and set the switch on the back for USA electric currents! My son-in-law and daughter sleep through their alarms all the time--even when they have 2 or 3 of them set! I gave them my Sonic Bomb alarm clock 3 days ago and he has woke up on time every day since! That is why I am purchasing my third one today. I need another one for me. These alarm clocks are great and I highly recommend them to heavy sleepers, hard-of-hearing, or even profoundly deaf people. There are some features the clock has that are not mentioned in the description of the clock: 1) It has battery back-up--so when the electric goes out (ours goes out about 15 times a year) the clock still keeps time. 2) The alarm has the ability to be on just noise--really loud annoying beeping, which can be adjusted for loudness and tone (for hard-of-hearing people who hear some tones and not others)Or you can put it on just vibrate--for people like me who don't like to wake-up with adrenaline pumping through my body. Or you can really juice it up by putting on the noise AND vibrate your bed, which my son and son-in-law both use to wake-up. 3)It also has flashing red lights that go off when the alarm does to help people wake-up. I do not have anything bad to say about the clock. I highly recommend buying one. Just make sure to read the directions pertaining to the switch on the back about setting it for which country you will be using it in. August 9, 2012 Update: All 3 of our alarms are still working great! February 9, 2014 Update: All 3 still working fantastic! The best alarms we have ever owned! August 19, 2021 Update: My alarm is still working great!! Keeps great time and the vibrator is still functioning perfectly!! Wakes me up everytime. Amazing!

This is quite literally life changing. Out of pure desperation of waking up our 14 year old son I ordered this alarm clock. Last Friday was 2 hours of trying. Mornings in our house are rough. Lots of “get up”, “let’s go”, “we’re going to be late” combined with lights on, shaking, moving blankets, the dogs helping wake him up, etc. We’d both end up crying - me because I didn’t understand why he couldn’t function, him because he couldn’t understand why I would lose it. The last two years of school were miserable. This summer he was diagnosed with inattentive ADHD, we are a week into school and for the first time EVER — this alarm woke him up within 10 seconds, maybe even 5 seconds. The volume wasn’t even at the highest level and he was up. He was up so early that they left for school 10 minutes early today. That jolt of noise was exactly what kicked his brain into gear. I’m truly amazed at this little power house and would give it a million stars if I could. The one thing I would change is the ease of setting - if I miss the time I have to circle alllllll the way around the 24hrs again, but for the ease of him getting up? Still worth it. ... show more
