My wife bought the mini fire pit for me for Christmas last year. I thought it would be worthless, but I was dead wrong! It was the best gift I ever had! Thank to my sweet lady for this wonderful gift. I lives in the city where there is no fireplace allowed and a big heavy fine. So, this is perfect. It's sat on my picnic table, easy fired it up, and watch the flame soar high and dance away in the air. Wow! No smoke at all! And I even can feel the warmth came from it. Beautiful! We had a Fourth of July back yard party and my oldest son know I have one so he grabbed it and set it up. My whole family love it, they keep added more woods to it and still enjoyed it for hours! I never thought my whole family hooked to the mini fire pit that quick! Two months ago, I bought Mesa XL so I can give my first mesa to my grandson for his apartment with smallest back yard. He and his girlfriend loved it! She said it was the best fire pit she ever enjoyed it every time my grandson lit it up. He said it fit perfectly in his back yard and always bring it in once it was completely cooled. They don't want any of his next door neighbors take it and use it. Even their landlord loved it too! They are very protective about their mini fire pit. I thought it was odd but hey! We all love Mesa and Mesa XL! One time last spring, I took it with me to my brother country home and set it up on the low end table. Once I got it going, my brother freaked out! He said it like a blow torch in there. For such a small tabletop unit, I was amazed at how long it burns and how much heat it puts out. We bought this for the back porch for cooler evenings. It's great for 2-3 people to gather around. It really was essentially smokeless. Clean-up was so easy the next morning. Very minimal ash left over. We used food-grade hardwood pellets. Love everything about the mesa XL, it is the perfect size and easily portable. The only issue I had was that mine did not come with the pellet adapter as described which is helpful if you choose to burn wood pellets rather than actual pieces of wood or sticks. I reached out to Amazon, they said they'd issue me a credit to purchase the pellet adapter separately but they never issued it- I then reached out to solo stove directly but they said they couldn't help me bc I purchased through Amazon and not directly through them. I think next time I'll purchase from Solo stove to avoid these types of issues but overall I'm very happy with the product and have used it a ton even without the piece that was missing. ... show more

I didn't want to invest in a larger smokeless fire pit. This needs more attention to keep lit, but with a little practice and using small pieces of wood, I have been able to keep it going for more than an hour by stirring the coals to get them to settle. I'm happy with the purchase.

love that it doesn't smoke much. I cut up a bunch of limbs and logs to 4" and then split them - even just a 8-10 chunks can last you hours - or you can break up small branches. definitely never need to buy wood - so great.
