Yes, that actually happened. (to be clear, they didn't actually steal the ukes outright; I have a soft spot). I DO get to hear the ukes when I visit though, and they sound wonderful, so there's that.

There are some fit and finish issues that just make you feel a bit cheap. when running you hand over this eukele you can feel a few slightly unfinished areas where joints meet. It also arrived in a not well package box which may have left it susceptible to the shipping process where it has taken at least 3 small digs. So for the price greater care should be taken in the packaging process so that such a light item does suffer the wrath of UPS, FedEx or anyone else in the distribution process. The eukele does sound wonderful but when comparing it my wife’s Martin eukele this Kala eukele falls a bit short. My wife’s Martin was also about $100 less expensive. On a positive note all the materials and hardware seem very nice and the matte finish is also nice. I think at this price range there may be some other options out there that could have made me happier.

Good workmanship, plays and sounds great. All solid wood. A different, darker fret board, bridge and nut would enhance the look. Plain looking ...... four stars

I got this with standard (free) shipping in 2 to 3 days. Amazingly Fast. Surprised the box was not taped shut ! The instrument is gorgeous and seems very well made. I am just getting it tuned up which takes a week to two to get it stabilized but the sound seems nice. I have only just begun to learn to play a ukulele so am not very knowledgeable about quality of sound as yet. I have only played a concert Kala for 4 months. I'll update on the sound in a few weeks. After 2 more months of playing I will say this has a beautiful tone. I am still a novice but can better evaluate the tone and overall quality. In my onion this is a real gem. As good as I could have expected as of Nov. 27, 2018. JimBene

I was so excited to get this ukulele, it sounded perfect and felt really good. The only problem I had was that it had been shipped in the original packaging, and there is not enough support to protect the instrument. I noticed almost immediately that it had 3 cracks in it, and I am fairly certain this came out of shipping it in inadequate box, as their quality control is really good. The box was really damaged. Unfortunately I had to return the instrument, I loved it, and I was really disappointed as I had gotten it with a good price that was no longer available. I will likely buy the same instrument, or maybe the one with possibility to plug in, but it will either way be likely another Kala.

This is a handsome Uke, but it doesn't resonate as well as my KA-T, which costs nearly 1/4 the cost of this one. Also, if you have large hands like I do, the top of the neck may be a problem for you: the back of the head (where the tuning mechanisms are) is thicker, and when I slide my hand up to play a D, it gets crowded against the back of the head. I really wanted to love this Uke, but I'll keep shopping for a higher-end model that is worth the extra money.

Just what I was hoping for. Clear tone, medium sustain. I set it up by lowering the action at the saddle and nut, rounding the nut shoulders and upgrading the strings to Aquila Reds with a low g. I just love playing it.
