I have been looking a long time for a low speed 4 inch fan, and this is by far the best I have found at a reasonable cost. Very quiet, simple hook-up. It would be very nice to get more specs before ordering-I had to test it to see how many watts it actually uses. I guess "Energy Star" is all you are supposed to know.I also ordered a Tamarack speed control from Amazon and it was cheaper than the Tamtech.com website,but neither place gives any energy info on this either.I even called, but couldn't locate any knowledgeable people.It gives you great confidence when even the makers don't want to give information. The control works, but is such a small difference in energy savings it's not worth the cost (3 watts, whoppee!)2 stars on the Tamarack. ... show more

    • Soler & Palau are my go to for in duct fans.
My only complaint with this is that the air flow is not as strong as other models in this size. It does work very well and runs very quiet because of the good build quality. I just would have liked the air flow to be more than it is.

    • pretty good.. lasts about 2 1/2 years
I replaced this model fan in my house in June 2013. The house was 2 1/2 years old. The fan installed in 2013 is making noise like the previous did before it went out. This is being used as a crawl space vent, so it runs 24/7. The space is consistently cool and never gets over 80 F, so it's not overheating. The space has good ventilation, so back pressure should not be an issue. I really would like to get more than 2 1/2 years from these, but they are extremely quiet until they start to go out and the price is not bad. So far they are hitting me at about $4.60 per month in cost + electricity. ... show more

This fan is worth every penny. My shower has a false ceiling installed with a regular overhead fan. It acted like a subwoofer and was extremley loud. I spend a few hours installing this fan, securing it to a joist in the attic. The fan itself is not even detectable and the only sound heard is air moving through the vent. It appears to move the same amount of steam as the old fan did. ... show more

    • 2nd TD 100 fan that has failed in less than 2 years
My first TD 100 fan was installed by the home builder, after less than 2 years, the thing made so much noise I couldn't use it. I purchased another from Amazon to replace it and that one did the same in less than 2 years, so noisy, I couldn't use it. Called S&P for a warranty as they state 5 year warranty, and they say I have to go back to Amazon for replacement. Don't buy this fan unless you want to keep replacing it. ... show more

This seems to be a well made quiet Exhaust fan. It came with wiring instructions for low or high speed operation. I didn't give it a 5 star rating for one reason: It is described as a 4"/100 mm fan. One would assume that the tubular ends would be 4", but they are not. The ends measure 97mm in diameter--an odd size that does not mate with 4" ID PVC tubing. Fortunately, I have a lathe and was able to create two thin rings to make up the difference. But, if you do not have a way to make the ends 4" dia., then you will perhaps have to wrap them in multiple layers of tape until they fit.     • Well worth the money!
This is a very well built fan, the construction is super solid. The fan is well balanced and moves the air very nice and also very quiet. You will need your own power cord and wire it yourself but that no big deal. I have 1 other fan by another manufacturer and I can be close (2 feet) to this fan running but all I hear is the other fan that is 7 feet away. You get what you pay for and this is just super! ... show more

A high quality fan. Very quiet. We tested CFM. Was around 160! That was on about 10 feet of 4" pipe on the inlet side. The wiring instructions differed from the actual wiring. Seems like a change to the instructions may be in order. Still figured it out, so no big deal. Again, real nice!
