There is no motion detection. The light is perfect though and it does everything I expected. The pictures with the dog are from a pitch dark back yard. It lit up like it was daytime. Amazing for a solar light.

The media could not be loaded. Turn my backyard from dark and scary to daytime when it’s night! I’m out of this about 11 feet up in the air off of my pergola on my back patio. The timer setting is also a nice feature I can set it at 9 o’clock when I let my dog out and by midnight it’s turning off. One of my favorite parts is the dimming feature there are six different settings. So when we were out back with a fire we don’t have to have the strongest light blasting in the backyard. I also can’t believe how much power the light pulls even on overcast days.Overall this is exactly what I was looking for. It’s a must have if you have kids and a dark backyard. I have 14 300 to 350-watt solar lights around my horse arena. I bought this light because one got damaged in the wind. But this light is no brighter than any of the other lights. They claim this is 1000 watts, but it is not. It still works well but is not any brighter than 350 watts. I still recommend this light, just don't get your hopes up for a super bright light. ... show more

In response to a request from one of our national tenants, I bought four of these solar street lights to use in my parking lot. I'm happy to report that they perform admirably! The light output from them is excellent, and I installed all four of them on a single post at the darkest part of our parking lot. It provides excellent parking lot illumination and costs me nothing to operate each day. The dusk to dawn feature is my favorite; it seems to perform flawlessly all night long.
