I'm trying to figure out why, here in N. Calif. why I would ever want to take this out of the pool other than to clean the basket? Our pool is surround here and there by trees and landscape. There's always (actually there was) debris floating in the pool that would take me anywhere from 10 minutes to half an hour (not counting after storms) to skim out. This little robot runs all day on solar power and is probably about the least expensive of the offerings I looked at. I'm sure they've cut corners where they can and time will tell how long this unit lasts. But until then this quite simply, works. We just had a huge storm with high winds. The bottom of the pool is a mess, but the top is clean! I emptied the basked each day of the storm as it was full. Typically, I empty it every few days or so. The remote control (also via a simple app) really is only good for directing the unit over to you if it is on the far side of the pool. Otherwise, response is pretty slow so directing it to go over and get that leaf is more work than is worth doing. I just leave it in the pool and let it motor around randomly (it'll get the leaf eventually). I half charged it on day one, 'cause I wanted to see it go. I've had it six days and haven't charged it since. It even pulled enough solar power during the storms to keep going. Wish I had bought this years ago. ... show more

    • Great....when it works....
Pro - generally when working properly, this skimmer is amazing. Cleans the pool great automatically. Moves around pool fairly fast and sucks in leaves with a front propeller that pulls leaves into the bin. It actually has sensors that when it approaches the pool wall, it senses this and actually turns right before hitting the wall. Other skimmers just hit the wall (which I guess is fine) and then turn. I've tried 3 other robotic skimmers and this one actually works the best - when its working.... which leads to Con - I have a pepper tree with very small leaves (if you even call it that). Unfortunately, the leaves can be hard and can wedge into small crevices - specifically, where the front propeller spin - which caused the front propeller to stall and made the skimmer stop working. In 1 week of use, this happened twice and I had to manually fish out the leaves. This just doesn't work for me as I need something more reliable. Take away - if you have larger (normal size leaves) in your pool, this skimmer is awesome. I personally would have kept this one. But because of my pepper tree, it has issues and just can't rely on this. ... show more
