I can't verify exactly how precise this is, but I did test it out with 1 pot of dirt that was bone-dry, 1 that was normally watered, and 1 that was saturated. The readings were as I expected for each. I use it in my garden to check how moist it is at root level, as sometimes the surface is dry but it's actually pretty moist a few inches down. Nice inexpensive soil moisture meter. Compared its readings to my blumat digital moisture sensors and it stacked up well. Yes, they are different sensing systems but the Dr. Meter was surprisingly accurate in its moisture readings. I use organic living soil. In this media I get consistent readings I can trust. I had the hardest time over the winter with my watering schedule since nothing has free drain like they have over the plant friendly weathered times. So few of them I didn't realize how wet they still were on the bottom..root rot. But with this stick I managed to save check better and bring some plants back. ... show more

I have had several of these meters and use them extensively. They all wear out eventually but I have always felt I got my moneys worth. Was suspicious if this one fro the beginning. All of my succulents measured as โ€œdryโ€. Possible but I was surprised. I watered everything yet they as same measure just two days after. Decided to do a little test. Saturated one plant then returned to test it in 2 1/2 hours. This meters dial went crazy. Literally bounced from one side to the other and back again. Never seen anything like it. Then the dal rested on โ€œdryโ€. Many of these on the market. Do not waste your time and money with this one. ... show more
