I have gone years in giving my soil the "eye ball" test to when it needs water, fertilizer, etc. This is the year that I am going to grow a successful garden without over/under watering, adding the right fertilizer, keeping enough mulch, etc. I needed a tool that could accomplish that. This tool measures the soil Ph, humidity and temperature as well as the amount of light a certain area gets. Hopefully, this will save me money in lower watering costs and dead plants. The results so far have been good as it is easy to use and read. It looks sturdy and durable and should hopefully last the season.

Using 1 in a pot to help give info about other similar potted plants. Not perfect, but I'd get 1 again. Mostly for the dryness as a double check to my other meathods. PH: Learned there is phenomenon when comparing the soil ph levels to runoff levels. This device needs electrical conductivity to measure. As the soil dries, electrons can't move as much, which then shows a higher ph than is accurate. I've got some 6.0 ph plants that show 7.4 by the time there ready for the next watering. Even though once watered, they show 5.9-6.0 again through runoff. Dryness: Has been very useful. And appears oddly accurate. Just remember it's measurement point is about 10" down. Temps: Appear accurate compared to known air temps. Light: Wouldn't trust it, havnt tested it, but I can't see it being better than an actual par meter. Besides the fact that light reading "at soil level" is useless. Screen: Small viewing angle. Will need to be in a place you can easily see 'straight on'. At 20% angle it's impossible to read.

The media could not be loaded. This soil tester is well-constructed and runs on four AAA batteries, which are easy to install. The screen is clear and easy to read, even in dim lighting. like that it provides multiple measurements, including temperature, moisture, pH, and light levels. I've noticed that the readings can vary slightly depending on where insert the probe in the pot. This is likely due to natural differences in soil composition and mulch distribution, so don't see it as a major flaw. I'm still getting used to how it works, but overall, it seems like a useful tool for monitoring plant health. If you're looking for a simple and convenient soil tester, this one is a good option.

I absolutely love this moisture meter! It provides approximate but reliable readings, making it super helpful for keeping my plants healthy. UPDATED: April 2025: I got a replacement and it was a little better but still off. I decided to do a product comparison. I bought two other kinds and tested them together - next to each other. They were all different -some slightly and the original was way off still. See the photos. The circle one on the left is my OLD one (Spoiler: I tossed it in the end). The others are new Amazon purchases you'd see when searching 'ph gardening readers'. As you can see in the images, the green ones are the same: not awesome. The two that are actually contending are the white one and the aqua green one with the one post. The pH values in the forest green ones are super alkaline at 7. The aqua is at 6. And the white at 5.2. I rotated as the pic shows and the forest green one is further alkaline to almost 8 AND the white doesn't change. And then you can see the changes in the wetness pictures (the white one doesn't change when the forest green one changes a lot). The light meters were all different in the exact same placement as well. So...in the end I am not impressed with this white phone/wetness/light reader. The only one I will be keeping is the aqua, one-post reader. March 2025: ORIGINAL PURCHASE: I think mine's faulty. The pH levels are I think flipped!! My blueberries are reading at a 7.3 and literally all of my other plants are reading at a 3.1. My garden is thriving and I have no problems. I just wanted to get this reader to make sure that I didn't kill my first attempt at blueberry plants. I have an old reader and it's measuring almost alkaline. So which one do I trust? An oldie but a goodie? Or this new fancy one?

The media could not be loaded. I ordered this soil teser to keep my indoor plants healthy. this product works pretty well. Easy to operate. It only has one probe.(not like other meter with two probes). Can measure pH, soil moisture, soil temperature and light. Only drawback I had is I couldn't change the units of light masure. (instrument only measure light in lux). But I was interested in micro moles per square meter per second.
