  • High Quality Soaker Hose
Size: 100 FT
The hose and fittings are high quality and provides a good distribution of water along its length. The package includes several elbow fittings along with hose clamps, landscape staples and one end cap. The clamps have plastic tabs so a tool is not needed to tighten them. Pay attention to the instructions printed on the box as there are no instruction sheets included in the box. In particular I noted that leaving the soaker hose out in the hot sun is not recommended and will probably result in reduced hose lifetime. When you are planning your use, keep in mind that there is always more water flow at the supply end of a soaker hose due to the porous nature of the hose. Pressure goes down as the hose gets longer but the difference can be easily managed by careful placement of the soaker hose. Since the package included all the fittings and hose clamps required for my particular use I couldn’t resist the chance to try something that will reduce the amount of time I spend doing the bi-weekly watering of a large pine tree. This will be somewhat of a new adventure for me. I’ve used soaker hoses for years but I have always connected them to the end of a hose, let them run until the soaking was done, coiled them up and then put them back in the garage. I'll put this hose under the landscape rocks and leave the hose installed for the whole watering season, not taking it back up until the colder weather hits. This use will be more like drip irrigation than a soaker hose. The area under the tree is completely shaded so I believe this will eliminate the sun problem. ... show more

  • Pleased with output
Size: 100 FT
Nice kit, plenty of fittings and extra hardware. But after only one week of use some pinholes have developed where I get a spray instead of a drip. I question the durability.

  • Big disappointment doesn't work right
Size: 150FT
The media could not be loaded. Hose pours water for about fifteen feet and then tapers off till at the end it barely trickles with no end cap needed. If I turn down the flow till it works right at the beginning, then there is NOTHING no water coming out the far end with the cap off and of course no "soaking" for most of the length. 😠 ... show more

  • Good quality soaker
Size: 150FT
The soaker hose is good quality, better than others I have tried. It is a soaker. I had wanted a drip system, but the hose is accurately described. I particularly like that it has brass fittings. It oght to outlast the others by quite a bit. The trouble I have is that it is much larger than my beds. I have 5 small planting beds. I had hoped that with a longer hose I could use it to water all of them, and I can... sort of. That is, it is perforated along the entire length and so it also soaks the lawn in between. That in itself is not a problem, but figuring out how to get it from one to another, and find risers so that it doesn't just pour into the lawn is a puzzle. When I first set it up I noticed that most of the water was going into the ground next to the bed. It does flow most heavily at the lowest point. It was easily solved with the first bed by just running a hose to the bed, and then the soaker inside the bed, but getting it to a second bed without losing most of the wate4r in between is still.... in the works. I currently have 2 hoses going to 2 beds, and used a narrower hose (the metal hose) to turn the flow down a bit. Not everyone will have the difficulties I do. Where I live it is very wet half the year, and very hot, with intermittent downpours the rest. I was surprised when I lost some plants to hot/ dry weather (it is seldom dry for long). The hose is also stiff (no more than others I have tried) and somewhat difficult to maneuver around small palnts/ seedlings, and delicate plants. I do have it in a U shape right now, and that takes care of one bed. I have another hose going to other beds with a sprinkler system, which was represented as a drip system. The soaker hose does get me closer to what I am after than the sprinklers do. I think in the spring I will try burying the hose under the mulch to see if I can do a better job of watering the roots... without too much excess. ... show more

  • A pleased first-time user…
Size: 100 FT
For better or worse I currently live in “the Land of Enchantment,” New Mexico. Albuquerque draws its water from the Rio Poco (more properly known by the misnomer, Rio Grande) as well as the VERY depleted Colorado River (more technically, the San Juan River, a tributary). For a bit of green in our backyards, we really need to be PRUDENT in our water consumption. The soaker hose helps immensely. I have two prime growing areas in the backyard. Thanks to the Vine Program I received a 100 ft hose with pop up sprinkler heads, made by Zollea. That system seems to be more appropriate when the plants are distinct and separated by a few feet, like the lavender and Russian sage we have in one area. In the second growing area, we have a wild profusion of flowering plants, nestled against each other. This summer we must have also had 50 sunflower plants growing fairly tightly in the area. For this area the soaker hose proved to be an excellent solution since it provides a slow amount of water over the hose’s entire length. It is a quality made product with solid brass connectors. Naturally the length of time the soaker hose is operational must be re-calibrated throughout the summer. I have a couple of plants that I watch, who provide the “send more water” signal as their leaves begin to wilt. Yesterday I reviewed the Linex Water Timer which automates the process and is easy to recalibrate the watering times. Of any watering system, the soaker hose is the most effective in reducing water loss through evaporation. Naturally I set the system to water between 5 and 6 am. At $57, the hose is good value for the money, paying for itself in one to two summers, through reduced water usage. 5-stars. ... show more
