  • Cheap and effective
I really should have wrote a review for this thing ages ago. This is going on 7 years now. I don't have to use it every year, but goodness is it a back saver for those years we get a a lot of heavy wet snow(like this one). That said do know that with a lot of heavy wet snow it is still a lot of work to get this thing to do the job. You have to put your back into if you are going to be using it to clear its absolute maximum 6 inch depth of wet clumpy snow. If you are going to have to clear thick heavy snow on a regular basis you are probably better off getting a full sized wheeled snow blower. If you just want to take care of heavy snow once per year or every other year and light snow a couple times per year then this thing is quite wonderful. Low price for entry and it is small and doesn't take up much space when storing it. You could also potentially store it in your car trunk to use as a portable snow blower for those of you on the go. ... show more

  • best used they day of or early morning after
I should of spent another $20 for one that's on wheels, your just trading a shovel full of snow for a shovel with a heavy motor, for walk ways, but if its not a flat surface, be ready to put your back into it, best used they day of or early morning after, in another words, when snow is still loose powdery, it struggles with anything that's been sitting for days, though with you working just as hard, you probably could still remove it, though you might kill the motor. ... show more

  • Cord unprotected in handle.
Works great removing snow - but white wrap protecting electric cord inside handle where you insert handle pieces together to make one piece and screw together was shredded and electric cord was not protected. Fortunately cord itself was not damaged and I covered the cord with electrical tape to protect unprotected cord from screw holding handle pieces together. Also wasn’t packaged very well. Looked like pieces were just tossed in box. Almost wonder if I received one somebody else returned. ... show more

  • Powerful little guy! Handy for decks!
We live in the upper peninsula of Michigan so we get about 2 feet of snow or more easily. We use this on our back deck to clear a path for our dog to go outside and to get some of the weight off the deck from so much heavy snow. It's about as loud as a vacuum and it is powerful! It's just like using a broom only it shoots snow probably 15 feet! Often we have to be careful of where we are aiming it because we covered our neighbor's deck in snow once! Works quickly and is very lightweight! Very easy to use and I'm sure that if it can handle the heavy Michigan snow it can handle your snow too! ... show more

  • Works great easy to use
This was very easy to assemble the handle and extremely easy for me a 165 pound woman with average strength and arthritis hands to use. It moved a ton of snow easily and quickly after the blizzard we just had and I’m so happy I bought this it made it a lot easier and it uses electricity which for me is preferable to gas. Bought the outdoor extension cord and reel separately here. ... show more

  • Too heavy for me. I Might as well heave a shovel myself.
Got this just in time for February storms. But, not the North East kind. 1. Use this electric shovel only when the snow is fresh, light & powdery and no more than 6-8". (like in Aspen, CO or Jasper, AB) 2. Snow should be light and airy, other Snow Joe will not throw too far. or at all. 3. You still have to push and pull this heavy thing around. But when you have to lift it for a snow pile, etc, it can get heavy. I bought it so I don't have to push a big heavy ass snow blower. This was not much better than me shoveling by hand and heaving it as far as I can throw (~10'). Too late to return. I would if I could. Kind of useless. Now takes up room in the garage. TIP: spray WD 40 on all surfaces of snow chute where snow will be thrown against and out. It will vastly improve the throw distance; it releases the snow much better with WD40 on it. I even spray my hand snow shovels with WD40. Snow slides off works like a charm. Snow stick no more. ... show more

  • Amazing little Tool!!
What an amazing little blower! My husband has his gas powered snow blower and now I have my own! I'm 5'1 and the gas blower was hard to maneuver! This was Really light weight! You have to hold at an angle so you won't get snow all over you! LOL I learned the hard way! But after that it took about 30min to do the front walk and the whole drive way! Add salt and yiur good as gold! I used a 100 ft extension cord also. A real good buy! ... show more

  • Sure is fun!
Having only used this guy once, I can only say that it's fun. More than anything, I experienced misted snow. The noise level is about 70% of an electric trimmer and it weighs just a touch more. It does its job well: it takes all the snow on your sidewalk and throws it in the air. Once that happens, it then aerates and comes back down to earth in a 12' radius as individual snow flakes. I was laughing the whole time--even when it went down my collar and down my back. TIP: If you're doing an area that will affect your neighbor(s), instead of going in a straight line parallel to your sidewalk, make many short 45-degree clips at it. because the snow only goes in front of the machine, you can angle it back onto your property and not upset your neighbor. ... show more
