I ordered one for myself and one for my elderly mother. They arrived early and were easy to set up. I charged the battery as instructed and hit the snow-covered deck. Wow, was I impressed! This little electric shovel is AMAZING! It handled powdery snow and heavy wet slush with no problem. The battery lasted longer than I needed it to and it was easy to maneuver. My mom is able to hold and maneuver hers as well, for which I am very grateful. I hate the thought of her out there trying to shovel snow but I live to far away to help out with that. She loves it! This product is no joke. It throws snow easily and makes shoveling a breeze. You can even take on heavier snow as long as you do it in layers. I successfully shoveled out about 6 inches of snow from my driveway. Battery life is good enough, I don't have a huge house. My old gripe was that putting it together was a bit of a pain but honestly its not too bad. ... show more

2024 Update: This is the second season with the Snow Joe Cordless Shovel. I have an 18" Snow Joe Blower, corded, and now I only use for snow accumulations over 10 inches. Otherwise I just grab the shovel and make short work of the light snow accumulations. I am mobility challenged, but I can use and manipulate this much easier than the Blower. It is powerful, light weight, and quick, and while I have two batteries, I've never had to change batteries mid-stream. I bought it to use on my wooden decks, but I tried it on a 60 foot driveway, I love it. However, you do need to be wary of small rocks, and larger branches, which will jam, and stop the blades. ============= I bought this mainly to help clear snow from three wooden decks. I've used it twice after two snow storms. I gave it four stars because you have no control over the direction of the blown snow; generally, it is up, and slightly forward. Because of that, on a deck, your blown snow will be packed against the posts, and pickets, etc, and under the lower railing (if you have them.); and against the outside walls of the house. So, be advised that you will still be doing a fair amount of shovel work, though not the usual amount of bending, and lifting, and throwing. It works best with new, shallow snow, and it takes a little more work if the snow is deeper (say 10"), and heavy. It will jam, and stop if the snow is packed too much; (be careful, the blades are plastic). (With the deeper snow, I found it works best if you just work the edge instead of the center, and make more passes.) Overall, I think this snow shovel, along with my Snow Joe Snow Blower, will make my snow clearing much easier. ... show more

We bought one 2 years ago to use on our back patio. A smooth concrete area. It was perfect. Light enough for me to use but very effective. We bought our second one this year for the upper deck and front walkway. We have give one as a gift and recommended to a neighbor which he is very pleased with.

LET THE BUYER BEWARE! Had a snow thrower that last 1 days then electrically failed and caught the house of fire when the children were sleeping. The customer service is horrible. The snow Joe customer service will not refund my money. Will not replace the unit! Stay away! And this has been ongoing since December 2024! Horrible service and horrible quality of products! ... show more

    • Wanted to love this, but...
Ok for light snow 2 inches and under. Otherwise, it was a struggle for me; there were a few times it jammed, and I thought it was going to break. The other thing is that there is no real direction for the snow to be chuted to. There's no real directional chute other than up and straight ahead. The snow sprays forward: 1) lots of it blows back on you and your face; 2) the snow blows forward, so it lands on your neighbor's space. That's another space I had to shovel with a manual shovel. Did not cut my time and effort on snow removal unfortunately. Assembly was simple and it was easy to use, but not useful for this winter in Chicago. ... show more

I haven’t taken this product out of the box yet. But I have the same thing in a corded model that I’ve used for three years and it has been wonderful. I have no reason to doubt this will any different.
