Instructions are not very clear. The A and B were bit mark in the product, so you need to make sure the longest one goes to the front. They are mark L and R, however instructions doesn't state where is left and where us right. I installed by logic the left is on the driver side. The metal crossbar clips into a hard plastic bracket. Assembly was easy, we put J style kayak holder on the crossbars and before we left the drive way one snapped and broke right at the plastic portion. I have not tested the cross bars, but they appear to be of great value. The installation was super easy. I gave the sturdiness 4 stars only because the 4 mounts are plastic, which is fine, but I suspect after years of age and weathering, they might become deteriorated to a degree.
