Amazing. I was hesitant to buy as I wasn’t sure a home frother could make cafe quality milk; but it blew me away. Milk came out perfectly warmed and a nice thick creamy foam. A splurge for sure but no regrets.

It looks great on the counter. Well-built and good-looking, small footprint. Easy well-engineered operation - just put in the disc (mixing or frothing), pour in milk, twist the knob to the operation you want, and push. Very quiet and it is ready quickly. Metal container is easy to manuever, pour (spoon is helpful for the froth), and clean. We just rinse and wipe it out and lift out the disc and rinse it off too. Plastic cover works well, and the center can be lifted during mixing to add sugar, hot chocolate mix, etc. The top is also easy to clean. Cup and top are also both dishwasher safe.

I have had poor satisfaction with the frothers available at the typical $30-50 price point. The electronics have failed due to poor design and inadequate waterproofing. My expectation was that spending this much more wooukd result in excellent reliability and performance. I have been using this item daily for over 8 months without any issues. And the performance and versatility have totally met my expectations. The distinct settings provide you with the result you expect: From nearly 100% foam to just hot milk. I usually use the hot, dense setting to make a latte macchiato and the result is delicious. I have also used it a number of times to make hot chocolate with the included heating/melting paddle installed. The agitating function really gives your beverage a melted chocolate ice cream flavor that is really rich. I got the best results using grated dark chocolate, but it also turns out good with powdered cocoa or chocolate chips. It’s really easy to clean the stainless steel pitcher and since it’s removable there is no hazard to the motor unit from water while rinsing. If you want versatile performance and a machine that will last, I recommend this unit. The only other consideration would be that no mechanical frother can give quite the same control and flavor of a powerful steam wand. So if you are a real coffee gourmet , maybe invest in a fancier espresso machine and use the steam. Personally I prefer the flavor of a moka pot, so I don’t have a countertop machine.

This is a really expensive product at $229. I received my SMEG frother August 28th to celebrate something, and enjoyed frothing milk with morning coffee every single morning till exactly October 9th, at which point it simply stopped working. I read the instruction booklet carefully before every using it and followed the instructions faithfully and double checked by reading the Amazon helping tips too. This frother ceased working in 42 days. What a disappointment. I had thought that SMEG was a good brand. I cannot recommend this product to anyone. Customers are better off getting one of the many inexpensive hand-held milk frothers.
