    • Difficult to give an overall rating, as it's a 3-part system not just a lock

Update: the vendor reached out with concerns that the lock may have been below-spec, given how it behaved. Bumped rating to 4 stars for good customer service. This system - lock + gateway + app - has some great features and some terrible misses, making an overall rating difficult to assign as your particular needs will swing the rating up or down. Read on and pick what is important to you... Pros: -Nice finish -easy install, outside of drilling a small hole through your door... but they provide really nice templates to mark the location. However, this makes it *really* well secured to the door. -smooth motion -iWatch app for (semi) quick unlock Really nice, easy battery change. no screws or having to disassemble like the old schlage locks. -jumper buttons outside for emergency power-up by 9v battery (i keep one in a plastic baggy on the porch) in case of dead batteries. UPDATE: I just tested this and both bluetooth and code unlock works when powered only by a 9v battery. It is a bit of a juggle, but not too difficult. 😳 Cons -have to drill hole in door (see above) -no notification of lock action if manually unlocked -App has only one icon when on a lock's 'page'; ergo no visual info about status. You have to query the lock to get status. Oddly, if you add the lock to Alexa, the Alexa app shows status with the normal locked/unlocked icons -I added a second lock and imported the codes from the other lock on the gateway. Neat feature...if it worked. the 2nd lock showed all codes were imported, but NONE of them worked. Had to delete all codes and reprogram individually. Massive fail. -suspect battery life. Fiddling around with programming and testing ate 5% in one day, using new duracells. -possibly the weirdest thing for a REMOTE programmable lock is the statement that you must use new codes within 24 hours or they are invalid. WTF!?!? This is a remote programming lock... why such a limitation? So I had to reprogram all those codes manually AND enter each one into the lock so they were 'remembered'. Pretty 1990. -I had trouble finding a manual to describe some of the oddly named features in the app. Finally found one with a different manufacturer's logo on it -No sensing door closure state before autolocking. so expect deadbolt shaped dents in your trim if you set to autolock. autolock can be disabled. So, overall, I'm hopeful this will solve my occasional needs for remote opening and also alert me when the door is opened by authorized users. But I can't really give the whole ecosystem more than 3 stars. ... show more

I use Smonet Locks on two Airbnb units and it is super easy to change the code remotely between guests. Initially I had a problem with installing one lock that would never work. They sent me a new lock which works great. I had an issue with the lock automatically unlocking itself, but customer service got back to me through email the same day (Thanksgiving Day). The problem was eventually resolved by just removing the batteries and unplugging the Gateway to reset everything. I've been very happy with my Smonet smart locks! ... show more

***UPDATE **** After speaking with the seller they were able to provide me with a new lock that works even better then the original lock and also provided an additional year warranty! Deducting 1 star because they only responded overnight and it did take several days of communication to get a resolution. Physical key stopped working now I have to buy a new lock for my maintenance people ... show more

UPDATE: Customer service came through and is sending me a new lock. I tried to trouble shoot the lock and wound up uninstalling it and reinstalling the lock several times to no avail. It just has a small catch in the bolt retraction. Customer service sent me emails on trouble shooting, but nothing seemed to work (except the key). The lock is fairly straight forward to install. The electronics seem to work, but the bolt will not fully retract when using the keypad making the whole thing pretty worthless. The door remains locked. I can unlock it with a key or from the inside with no issues. I am sort of at a loss on how to fix it or even if I should. I could have saved myself a lot of money and just bought a deadbolt lock. ... show more

Bought this lock in November of 2021. Worked great for a few months and then all of a sudden the deadbolt locked and unable to unlock it without taking it apart. The pin that controls the deadbolt keeps falling out. After a few times of repeating this, the pin has fallen somewhere within the housing of the lock and unable to locate it. Now the front door is unable to be unlocked, forcing us to use the garage. 8/30/22 After leaving my previous review, I was contacted by the company who offered a replacement or refund. I selected to receive a replacement and the new lock seems to be working fine as of this review. However, the last lock worked fine for several months until the issue began happening. Hopefully, this lock will not have the same issue. However, the customer service was fantastic and hassle free. They went out of their way to make sure I was taken care of. ... show more
