I no longer have to worry that I grabbed the wrong set of keys when I leave the house! I can only imagine how a set like this would have improved my life as a kid. I swear I lost my house key on a monthly basis. This lock is easy to program with the free app. Choose your own combo, four to ten digits (longer is more secure). There are lots of features for letting friends/family/others into your house when you're gone. If you have one of the gateway stations (not included in this set) you can let them in remotely. Otherwise, there are little key tags that you can program to let them in during certain times or set them to only be used for a certain amount of time. Otherwise, you can set up to 5 custom codes. The app also lets you keep track of each use of the lock while you're away. There are some things that could be better. There are limited style options. The silver, which we got, is an industrial semi-gloss finish that does not match the "brushed" stainless or nickel finishes so popular these days. It still has a key, which may come in handy if the batteries run out while you're on vacation. It's too early for me to say how long the batteries will last, but so far both my partner and I are really enjoying the convenience of not having to worry about carrying the house key.

I’ve never setup a smart keypad lock before, but I am impressed with this unit. It has all the features you could possibly want in a smart keypad: phone app to control the unit, Bluetooth, key fobs, Wi-Fi access from everywhere, in addition to normal keys. Physically installing the unit was a little bit more detailed than installing a standard lock. But not by much. There are more pieces involved and a few steps had me stumped. Particularly when installing the panel that goes on the inside of the door. It requires the deadbolt knob to be upright, but instead I missed that detail and installed it with the knob sideways. The deadbolt wouldn’t function in this position. Pay attention to the details on the installation instructions. Of course the separate door handle was a basic doorknob handle installation. No surprises there. Installing and setting the app up took about as long or longer than physically installing the unit. For whatever reason, the QR code in the instructions didn’t work for me. I didn’t have the greatest service when I was installing it, so maybe that was it. So I just found the app in the play store. Registering was tricky. I kept getting hung up on the get and verification code step, but the manual didn’t give much guidance here. Again, this may have been related to my service at the time. Apparently, there was a slider bar you were supposed to “move to the correct position”??? After several attempts, finally a photograph appeared with a missing box you were supposed to move the slider to and fill the box to prove you weren’t a robot. Once this was completed, I received a text with a code to finish registration. Once you get past the registration piece, the instruction manual was fairly complete and thorough on the app which was surprising. Given the ever-changing nature of app software, this portion may end up being out of date at some point in the future. After registration, you can then setup permanent/temporary/custom PIN codes, other app users/admins, unlock/lock directly….everything you could want. For whatever reason, the included key fobs are not setup but these have to be setup for use first. It has record logging as well, but I’m not confident it’s working correctly. So far, the only activity I can see in the “records” is what I’ve done through the app. When you drill down to the individual items (PIN codes, key fobs), there is another location to see the “records” (presumably for that specific item), but these are all empty. I had to knock a start off for that. This was a big feature I wanted with this device. Once setup, you’ll want to go through the settings for security purposes. Namely resetting the default admin PIN code and turn off the “reset” button (can only be done via Bluetooth). There are all sorts of settings you’ll want to review and change to your preference. I don’t use Alexa, so I don’t know how it works to setup with that. It requires 4 AA batteries that are not included. Nowhere can I find in the instructions any mention of the batteries. Since it can be powered with an emergency USB C chord, I didn’t know if it took normal batteries or rechargeable. All I had were the normal ones in that size, so that’s what I used and so far everything seems to be working just fine. Definitely recommended!

Was a bit hesitant about the price buy the convenience is worth it. Setup was a breeze and it feels solid, not like it's gonna break anytime soon. Paid a bit more than your average lock, but for the tech and build its fine. No more fumbling for keys for this guy.

I got this lock system to replace our main entryway. It would make it much easier for me to allow caregivers into the house when I am not home. My husband didn't like the idea of having so many different keys... so I took them to a locksmith to see if they could be rekeyed. They can but not to my key... bummer. This is what the locksmith told me... He wouldn't put these on anything he wanted to protect. The parts are plastic and easily broken and would fail within 3 to 6 months. The locksmith did take the lock apart to see if he could rekey it. Since I can't risk the safety of my house I will keep looking and maybe find a way to use these on something interior as a secondary protection.

A "smart" TV is one that communicates wirelessly with the internet. A "smart" watch is one that communicates wirelessly with your phone. A "smart" doorbell should be one that... well... communicates wirelessly. This one doesn't. The image on the product page shows the lock beside two key fobs and a cell phone. If you want to use your cell phone, you have to purchase a gateway device and this is only going to work with one door so you'd have to purchase one for each door that you might want to control. With that additional cost, there a much better locks out there. If you're still not convinced to move on to another product, keep in mind that the body of the deadbolt unit is plastic and not cast aluminum. I gave it two stars because it does lock and unlock a door with a code.
