The Level Bolt was the perfect solution make my front door smart while maintaining the look my wife desired. Watching the deadbolt open and close by itself looks like magic. The device is well made and everything feels high quality. Installation went smoothly with only a minor adjustment to our original deadbolt casing to allow the Bolt to smoothly operate. We use it primarily with Apple HomeKit and all family members have access to it. I do wish they offered face plates and strike plates to match other hardware colors, but it's a small thing. Before the recent Matter update, it wasn't dependable enough to count on- the response took a few seconds when it did work, and would sometimes not respond or lose connection. I purchased the Level Connect wifi bridge hoping this would help, but it didn't make a difference for me. Enter the recent Matter update! Despite owning a Level Bolt for over a year and a half now, Level added a Matter support option to the Bolt and offered an OTA update to all previous owners. You have to submit a questionnaire to make sure your home is compatible with Matter over Thread, and after review, they send you an email with a new Pairing Code and the firmware update will appear in your phone's Level app. It walks you through the process, but essentially you remove the Bolt and add it back using Matter. The Bolt with Matter now responds instantly. No more three second delays! It's been about 10 days, and so far, not a single lost connection or "no response" message. The update option was a wonderful surprise and has made my Bolt just as quick and dependable as the rest of my HomeKit devices. ... show more

    • Great little gadget
Overall, I love this product and I recommend it. However there are some caveats and the operation is not perfect. I installed the Level Bolt on a guest room that I intend to rent out to strangers, and it is perfect for this purpose. I love being able to send access codes to people's phones and then deny them access once they leave. This is so much safer and more reliable than using a lock box. And honestly, the product sells itself. The guests love it and they're shocked it just works like magic! So my first caveat is that the door, along with the locks, must be standard doors. They have a "compatibility check" which gives you standard measurements so you may assess your own door prior to purchase. My front door, which was built over a hundred years ago, would not be a candidate for Level locks. This was plainly evident as I was installing the Bolt to my guestroom door. Installing the actual lock is quite simple, however making sure the bolt slid effortlessly into the hole was more tedious. I had to enlarge the hole with a knife and drill. The strike plate has beveled edges to help guide the lock into position. Which brings me to my second caveat. While the motor in the Level Bolt is strong enough to lock, it does not get into the fully locked position unless I press the door closed. Thankfully, even with the error, the lock is extended enough so that you cannot open the door. Applying a little pressure while I use Level Bolt will lock it into place fully. This might be just some imperfection with my door or maybe I have some more whittling to do. They also have this calibrate function to customize the lock to the door, but it didn't do much better after calibration. Lastly, I use an Android phone, so Level Lock will only work while I am within bluetooth range. This hasn't been a problem for me yet. IOS phones have HomeKit integration, which allows for remote and other uses. I'm hoping Android will come out with something like that as well. ... show more

I needed a dead bolt that worked with my ring system so I went to the Ring website to see what locks would work with ring. Level bolt was advertised as working with ring if you have a ring doorbell pro, I checked the product on the website and it stated that it also works with Amazon Sidewalk. I don't have a doorbell pro but I do have amazon sidewalk, so a bought the product. What I needed was to be able to unlock the door remotely in the event of an emergency, such as providing emergency services access to the house because of my dogs. I received the product and.... it has been an adventure. I installed the device on the door, downloaded the app, added the device to the app.... so far so good. Test the lock and unlock function via the app close to the door (BIG NOTE: THE LEVEL APP ONLY WORKS WITH BLUETOOTH) and the lock opened and closed, however I noticed that the app kept on displaying "NOT CONNECTED" on and off and sometimes it would not allow me to lock or unlock because it was not communicating, so I continued to registering the device in Amazon sidewalk, it was a bit of a research process but finally I got connected. it worked for a little bit and then.... sidewalk could not connect to the device.. so I removed the device from amazon sidewalk and from the level app and added it again. once again it work for a little bit and then it stopped working. Tried multiple times to make it work and all I got was "device unresponsive" in alexa.... I was already getting fed up with it so I left it alone. A while later I checked and the device was responding again... ok maybe I need to give it time... but no.... later on it showed unresponsive again and it has been a non stop of being able to remotely lock or unlock and all of a sudden it's unresponsive. In the end my recommendation is to not buy this product if you want to lock and unlock remotely, the connection is unreliable and most of the time it does not work. I am at the point of biting the proverbial bullet and get another brand of remote lock. ... show more
