One of my recent clients required an electronic locking system with remote access, monitoring, keypad entry and a standard physical key solution. Based on so many favorable reviews I decided to give Smonet a try. I was quite impressed with the packaging, detailed pictorial instructions, and mounting hardware provided. After installing the Smart Lock in place of an old mechanical deadbolt, I had a number of questions while I waited for the gateway to arrive. I reached out to the manufacturer through their contact us link. Within 24 hours one of their tech support agents, Helen, reached out to me through WhatsApp. She introduced herself and offer to answer any of my questions. From our text exchange she took the time to walk me through the process of establishing a passcode, and explain various options. Awaiting the gateway and additional ecards I asked how one links them up to the Smart Lock. Helen took the time to demonstrate each function by creating a short video of her walking through it on her own smartphone and then sending it to me through WhatsApp. The printed instructions are very good but the short videos with live demonstration were extremely helpful. I have now successfully incorporated the gateway so they customer can monitor each entry remotely. Also programmed five e-cards for the staff each under their respective names. The app is well designed and easy to follow. And the Smart Lock confirms each successful addition with voice response. I am thoroughly impressed with the product design and it's many features to the point that I will install a complete Y1 system in my own house so I can be more proficient on it with future clients. I am most impressed with the timely, courteous, and extensive customer support I have received from Helen overseas. To me, timely customer tactical support is most important with product quality, design, and cost a close second. I will highly recommend this product line to all my current and future clients. I’m not sure why there are so many bad reviews. I’ve had this lock for 4 yrs and it works great! I’ve honestly never had an issue. The door tag and screen work well. If my print is unreadable I just add my code and press #. Does need new batteries every year or so but the app lets you know. I’m about to buy one as a gift. I would definitely recommend this and I have not been paid or asked to make this review. I rarely review but can’t understand all the negative reviews. 🤷🏻♀️

After three or so years it gave up. It was working great and suddenly the fingerprint feature stopped working and the battery life went from months to just a couple weeks. I’ve tried everything to fix it but it appears it’s dead. The keypad still works however; but with batteries lasting just a couple weeks now, it’s not worth keeping. So, my reviews are mixed. Worked great but died far too soon than I expected.

I don’t often leave reviews, but I thought I’d leave this one! I’ve had two of these locks, one on my patio door and one of my front door for one year now. I’m only back on the page to leave this review because I’ve ordered a third for the door that leads to my garage. So far, I haven’t really had any issues with this. The fingerprint works, and my kids come in the front door every single day using the combo. You can setup multiple combos. Do I think this is the best lack you can get on the market, probably not. But is it efficient for the price, yes. And the locking function seems to work every time. I do agree with some of the other reviews that the connectivity, you have to be close to the lack to get it to do things, but to me I don’t really use that feature often. Really only to check battery life.

DONT WAIST MONEY ON THIS GARBAGE!!!! This “lock” is actually locking you outside of the house every single day! I’ll explain, you need to press the # to lock the door but then a loud siren start working saying operation failed system locked emergency. The only way to get in the house is to use the extra key, not a code! They have no customer service line. It’s just an email you sent to India.

These locks were very easy to install. I put 2 of them in and had to have Elaine FaceTime me. She was very responsive and the issue was resolved within minutes!! I had tried what Elaine asked me to do (too hard to describe) but told her I’d do it again! And VOILA!!! I give the Alexa integration a 1 star because it keeps telling me that an account already exists after entering my phone number and password. I’m tired so will try again in the morning! I replaced 2 Liftmaster locks that would NOT hold the wifi so only Bluetooth worked. It defeats the purpose of having remote control. These locks were less than I paid for one of the LM locks. Love the fingerprint option! Elaine was fantastic and if I need help again, I hope she’s working because she’s very good at what she does! Also loved that she asked if we could do a video chat! Streamlined the fix by not having to take pics/email/wait for a response etc etc etc! I haven’t been able to check locking the door via wifi/remote but I’m not worried about it working! I purchased this deadbolt lock in September 2023 for about $100 and have lived with it for over two years before deciding to leave this review. The reason I’m reviewing it now is simple: I’ve been patient, but the product has never consistently worked as well as it should. Installation wasn’t the issue—I even had a professional installer handle it. I’m also fairly tech-savvy, so setup, Wi-Fi connection, and app installation were all done correctly. Unfortunately, the app experience has been poor from the start. It’s slow, unreliable, and often fails to unlock the door even when I’m inside the house. I live in a townhouse, and there are times when I’m just upstairs or in my office near the front door and the app still won’t respond. That largely defeats the purpose of having a smart lock. Battery life has been another major frustration. The lock frequently beeps and reports low battery, sometimes even after I’ve just replaced the batteries with brand-new ones. At times I feel like I need to change batteries every few weeks, yet other times it works for months—there’s no consistency. The constant alerts and random beeping have become annoying and unreliable. The keypad itself is also underwhelming. Compared to another digital keypad I have on my garage door, this one is noticeably less responsive and slower to register inputs. The fingerprint reader technically works—I’ve never been locked out—but overall the interface feels laggy and finicky. Because of these issues, my household now avoids using the front door altogether and enters through the garage instead. I don’t feel confident making quick changes or relying on the lock when I need it to work smoothly and immediately. This review isn’t to say the idea is bad, and it’s possible newer versions have improved. But the unit I purchased in 2023 has been consistently unreliable over time, and for that reason, I’m now looking to replace it.
