It's way faster than charging the battery through the camera (5hrs) or with the Sony BC-TRW W series Infolithium charger (3hours). Make sure that you're using a USB-C power delivery charging adapter rated for between 30W to 60W to get the fastest possible charge times with all 4 batteries inserted.

Just what I needed, now I can charge 4 batteries at once. Tip: if you want to charge 4 batteries at once, you'll need at least 18-20w charger. If not, it'll only do 2 at a time.

The Pros: Charging Speed & Capacity: The SmallRig 4-Channel Charger is a huge efficiency booster. Being able to charge four batteries simultaneously at high speed—rather than just one or two—is a game changer for long shoots. High Visibility: The bright orange color is a brilliant design choice. It makes the unit incredibly easy to locate even when buried in the bottom of a dark camera bag. Modern Connectivity: It uses USB-C for charging, which is perfect for keeping gear standardized and allows for flexible power options like wall adapters or power banks. ---------------------------------- Unboxing Struggle: My only major complaint is the packaging. The unit was extremely difficult to pull out of the box. SmallRig should definitely reevaluate their box dimensions; the tight fit doesn't seem to account for the thickness of the instruction booklet, making the initial unboxing a bit of a workout. Final Verdict: If you can get past the initial struggle with the box, the charger itself is excellent. It's reliable, fast, and the high-visibility color is a thoughtful touch for any working photographer.

Works great! Given the relatively poor capacity of the Sony NP-FW50 a multi battery charger is a major convenience if you are quickly burning through multiple batteries. My situation is a bit different in that I just have a massive camera collection and a 4-channel charger will make it so much easier to occasionally charge the many batteries I have to help maintain their health if some of them are rarely used. Perfect solution for either situation and you can really tell this charger has better build quality than the typical cheap off brand charger (or at least it seems that way to me). SmallRig is one of the most reputable companies when it comes to camera accessories and they don't cut corners like a lot of the many lesser camera accessories manufacturers. Haven't had it long but in what I think is an unlikely chance that it gives me any issues in the future, I'll be sure to update this review. But so far I'm loving it. Appreciate that unlike the majority of chargers on the market you can check the battery life when the charger isn't plugged in. Whenever you insert a battery the battery level indicator lights up briefly. The only complaint I have with this is how difficult it was to pry the contents out of the box. It took several minutes and my fingers were a little numb by the time I managed to get it out. I also picked up another very similar Smallrig 4-channel battery charger that charges a different battery and that was much easier to get out of the box. Maybe I just got unlucky this time but it truly was a hassle to get the contents out of the box.

Quick Verdict: After testing several NP-FW50 chargers (Hahnel ProCube2, Sony BC-TRW, BC-VW1, Vemico), the SmallRig 4-channel USB-C charger is my new go-to. It charges all four batteries simultaneously at high speed, saving me valuable time. Pros: ⚡ Charges 4 batteries at once—no slowdown per slot 💡 Bright LED status bar for easy monitoring 🔌 USB-C input for modern, flexible power Cons: ⏱ Actual charge time is about 2.5 hours for all 4, not the 2 hours stated What’s Included: 4-bay charger unit USB-C cable Build Quality: This is a solid, bright orange ABS plastic charger—larger than expected, but that extra size is intentional. The bottom has substantial rubber feet, so it stays firmly on my desk. Vent slots and a metal heat plate on the base keep it cool during long charges. I haven’t opened it up, but it feels well-engineered. In Use: I tested a variety of batteries, and all seated easily. The charger consistently delivered around 2.5 hours for all four, which is still impressive. Simultaneous charging is a huge time saver, especially for shooting days or long production sessions. Final Thoughts: If you need a fast, reliable charger that handles multiple batteries at once, this is a no-brainer. I’ve set aside my old chargers—this one gets the job done faster and with better design.

This SmallRig battery charger is perfect for owners of many Sony alpha cameras. Quite a few of the Sony alpha models use the NP-FW50 batteries. My old A5100 is still running and it uses these batteries. Over time, I have accumulated several batteries and I usually like to charge as many of them as I can before going on a trip. The 4 battery capacity of this charger comes in really handy for me. It provides great functionality with the FAST charging capability and the LED meters to monitor charging status on each of the four batteries. A USB-C to USB-C fast charging cable is included. The small square orange unit is very portable and feels solidly constructed. You couldn't ask for more features in a battery charger for your Sony NP-FW50 batteries. Just plug your own 4 batteries into this unit and you'll soon be ready to go. I highly recommend this for Sony alpha camera owners with NP-FW50 batteries.
